Fun Fact: The opening scene with the street merchant was completely unscripted. Robin Williams was brought into the sound stage and was asked to stand behind a table that had several objects on it and a bedsheet covering them all. The animators asked him to lift the sheet, and, without looking, take an object from the table and describe it in character. Much of the material in that recording session was not appropriate for a Disney film.

Same here. It's usually "Abu [insert name]", meaning "[insert name]'s father". Sometimes, it's not literally a child's name and is just a nickname of sorts. So, as a kid, I was always confused thinking thinking "Abu who? That not how this works, you can't just end it at 'Abu'!".
17:55 Yeah that's why there are so many animation fans who either hate live action or hate animation haters because they keep talking about "this movie has a bunch of stuff that only animation can do and nobody could accomplish this in live action" and they're right there are a bunch of cool things in movies like Aladdin, Puss in Boots 2, and Spider-Verse that can only be accomplished in animation and not live-action.

A "diamond in the rough" is a person who's good but could be better. Aladdin is a selfless person as shown when he gives those kids his bread. *He* knows how to steal and get food, but they don't have those skills. 7:32 Abu is greed if it were a monkey.
