After 3 vids on this subject, yours was the most thorough, although I might have a unique situation. I'm a older male currently in a low level supply position for 23 yrs.at a hospital. I'm cross-trained in many skills. In a conversation about something else my supervisor mentioned they were looking for a team lead on my shift, that I have the knowledge required and should apply. He favors a relative in his dept.with nepotism and he filled my previous position with him. After thinking about this unfairness, how we're always short on staff ,pay is below standards,it's a revolving door dept.and they don't pay for educated bosses, I realized the probable costs greatly outweighed the benefits. They have trouble keeping this slot filled(bright red flag).Maybe I shouldn't have spoke in the first place but I was just curious. How can I refuse the offer when he asks(I know he will), without being insulting? PS: I will retire here in a couple of yrs. or might want to stay pt. time. A reply would be truly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
This really helped me. Thank you for speaking on a subject that is not always talked about.
