- Getting closer to an attempt to fire the rodent infested 390 FE in this old beast. Originally we had planned to swap a different engine into the car right from the get go but now its become a quest to at least see if this one will run.
I have a 1966 2dr Galaxie 500 XL with a 390 auto I have to revive like yours as well...I will be tuned in to your progress!!
I’m a new subscriber. Really appreciate the interesting info.
Do you ever come as far as the Olympic Peninsula? I’m in Bremerton and have a’65 Ford Thunderbird….I’m willing to part with the car. My health isn’t the best and I’m getting too old to work on it. I drive it often…never in the rain or snow but as much as I can.
Again, thanks for a great channel to watch. You talk to us, but not down to us. Appreciate that.
@@alanolson6913 welcome and thank you for watching! I’ve been to Sequim once, beautiful area up there.
I like the Starliner parked next to the '65 your working on!
That’s a big project, but we’ll be putting that one back on the road too!
I like that, Montclair. It would be an excellent car to travel in.
Rumor has it this Montclair was previously owned by a NASA astronaut.
when you go to start it and it wont do anything ...with your left hand reach over the wheel and wiggle the shift lever as you have the key in the start position ...the nuetral park safety switch might be bad or out of adjustment..[ most old fords they are out of adjustment ] .thats why you wiggle the shift lever with your left hand and the other hand keep the switch in the start position ...try that and see it it does anything
when you go to jumper the starter relay...just pull off that little red wire marked [ s ] on the selinoid and use a screw driver from the battery side and lean it into the small terminal that was marked [s ] ...it should crank good for you doing that
It will turn over but you also have to either turn the key on providing 12 volts to the coil, or run a wire from the positive post of the battery to the positive post on the coil. "Hot wiring"
Good luck with your channel
Thank you!
Just wondering if anything has happened with the Edsel Pacer.
That one is still in the queue. Stay tuned!

A Ford FE is an expensive and a bit difficult engine to go through. I just did it, so I know first hand. I would recommend putting a 5.0 HO out of a Mustang with the automatic from the Mustang unless this had a 3 on the tree which I would keep for old times sake. The say 92-93 5.0 with fuel injection would make this a fun trouble free car for a few more decades and get all kinds of looks.
That would be cool, since we have FE’s in almost everything we have a plethora of FE parts, engines, etc. You ain’t whistling Dixie though, they aren’t cheap to build.
If this is a true 1965 Galexie 500 LTD the original 390 CID had gold colored valve covers. I think the engines were painted black.
He said in the video that it's date coded 1966...it's not the original engine
Mine was gold also. A 352 four barrel
Yes, correct. It appears this is a replacement engine as the casting numbers all start with C6.
Have you an your old lady been drinking. Smoking ??
