  • We often go to dinner parties, group picnics and other social settings with the desire to have a conversation with friends and enjoy, but many a times the conversation very quickly flips into an argument.
Perhaps this is due to less developed dialogue skills among us.
There is not much focus on developing "dialogue skills" in early school education, particularly in the Indian subcontinent.
Improving dialogue skills are essential for enhancing the quality of life and betterment of interpersonal relationships.
It's essential to engage in conversations with mutual respect and an open mind, fostering a shared purpose.
It is helpful to pay close attention to create safe conditions and content to ensure that everyone can participate without fear and with genuine goodwill

It will be great if the dialogue skills are learnt early in life. These skills are very helpful both in personal and professional settings.

There is a big difference between an argument and an healthy dialogue. An argument for the sake an argument is an expression of one’s ego. There is no desire to lean. There is a tendency to put down the party and walk away with an inflated ego of winning. Both parties are losers. In a good discussion both parties are winners. Mutual respect for each other brings people closer. Enhances knowledge and brings strong bonds.
