Great podcast! Absolutely true! My husband is based in UK for work for the past 10years and I stayed back in India because I wanted my kids to know who they were. They are Indians and to realise that they had to grown up in India and study in Indian schools. The epiphany happened after reading Jhumpa Lahiri’s Interpreters of Maladies. I am happy that I made that decision and the sacrifice as a couple.
@@ashok.vardhan.g As you must know the book is a compilation of short stories based on Indian American experiences in the US. It deals with first generation Indian parents who migrated to US and second generation children born in US. What glared at me from those stories were mostly the struggle of second generation trying to be Indians to their parents at home and trying to fit in with fellow Americans outside. Their dilemma with their identity really struck me hard. I decided then and there that I am not going to bring up my children ever outside India. I am not confident about the Indian Muslims and their loyalty towards India. I have clear memory of when I was a teenager during the Indopak war in the 70s where the Indian Muslims living and trading part time in Nepal and living full-time with their families across the border in India collected money (chanda ) in India and sent them through Pakistani embassy in our country to Pakistan to support their war efforts. They would have heated arguments with my father a staunch supporter of India and Indira Gandhi. The Indian Muslims were staunchily supporting and praising the Pakistani army and listening to the Pakistani broadcast and believed in the heroic winning moves of the Pakistan army as per that broadcast. They even distributed sweets thinking that Pakistan was winning the war!! I will never believe that North Indian Muslims are loyal to India. This is a wishful thinking a myth.

Other than Charvaka, there are several other major schools of thought in Hinduism. Here’s an overview: 1. Vedanta: • Advaita Vedanta: Propounded by Adi Shankaracharya, it teaches non-dualism, asserting that the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman) are identical. • Vishishtadvaita: Founded by Ramanuja, it teaches qualified non-dualism, where the soul and God are distinct but inseparable. • Dvaita: Established by Madhva, it asserts dualism, the belief that the soul and God (Vishnu) are completely distinct. 2. Sankhya: An ancient school that emphasizes metaphysics, distinguishing between Purusha (consciousness) and Prakriti (matter). Sankhya is dualistic and does not focus on a personal god. 3. Yoga: Closely related to Sankhya, Yoga focuses on practical methods for spiritual growth and achieving liberation (moksha). Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras outline practices like meditation, ethical guidelines, and physical postures. 4. Nyaya: The school of logic and epistemology, emphasizing the use of logical reasoning and systematic thinking. The foundational text is the Nyaya Sutras, written by Gautama. 5. Vaisheshika: This school focuses on naturalism and atomism, positing that the universe is made up of atoms and governed by natural laws. Founded by Kanada, its main text is the Vaisheshika Sutra. 6. Mimamsa: Emphasizes the interpretation of the Vedas, particularly the earlier parts dealing with rituals (the Samhitas and Brahmanas). It stresses the importance of performing Vedic rituals to maintain cosmic order and fulfill one’s dharma. Jaimini’s Mimamsa Sutras are its key texts. 7. Bhakti: This devotional tradition focuses on loving devotion to a personal god. Major Bhakti traditions include: • Shaivism: Devotion to Shiva. • Vaishnavism: Devotion to Vishnu and his incarnations, like Krishna and Rama. • Shaktism: Devotion to the Divine Mother (Shakti) in forms like Durga, Kali, and Lakshmi. 8. Tantra: Involves esoteric practices aimed at spiritual enlightenment and liberation, often focusing on the union of opposites, such as male and female energies. Tantra includes rituals, mantras, and meditation techniques. These diverse schools of thought reflect the rich philosophical and spiritual landscape of Hinduism, offering various paths to understanding and experiencing the divine and the nature of existence.

There is a shift of thought between Indians who came in 80’s v/s Indians who came to US in 2000’s. Parents then could not explain the value of their culture to their kids. Either they left them to be Roman in Rome or pushed their values on their kids without making them realize understand what is Indian or Hindu values are. Those kids started hating it. But parents who came later did not do that mistake. I did not tell my child about the religion we follow. But kept following all the practices and festivals we do. One day when my child was 6 years old, came home from the school and asked do we belong to this particular religion. I asked how does he/she know. School was taking about different religion and the practices. So my child recognized the religion we belonged to. And that child is 18 years old now with all the values I followed or my parents followed. Community living was not a thing back then. But now some communities are 60% Indians. Kids don’t shy to show their culture out in open. Entire community celebrates festival. Indians get permission for fireworks on Diwali. Many used to ask why Christmas lights are out in November. Now they know it’s Indian festival. Things are way different now compared to 80’s or 90’s.

Regarding families moving to the West, where the parents are finding a disconnect from their children brought up in the West: The parents didn't understand then that letting go of their roots, including Bharat and Hindu history, Hindu philosophical studies, ritualistic practices, etc., for a one-track focus on making money or overcompensating on fitting in with the white crowd, would become such a backstabbing negligence on their part. I have been brought up in Canada, amidst all sorts of people with different backgrounds, but I was attracted to the local BAPS mandir because of the kids of family friends and because it was/is a place to hang out with fellow Indian community. My parents also saw the benefit of being part of the mandir community and started visiting it regularly. The mandir itself had weekly assemblies and various activities for kids throughout the year, which provided the kids an avenue to become more knowledgeable and inspired by their own culture, heritage, and religion. Not only that, it very specifically has a (basketball) gym where kids can enjoy various sports in (and it doubles as a venue for other events). Mandirs have a huge impact on the overall growth, well-being, and stability of individuals, families, and communities (perhaps even states/nations), especially in the Western nations.

The Charvaka tradition, also known as Lokayata, is an ancient school of Indian philosophy that is known for its materialistic and atheistic viewpoints. Here are some key points about the Charvaka tradition: 1. Materialism: Charvakas believe that only matter exists. They reject the notion of an afterlife, soul, or any supernatural entities. They hold that the only reality is the physical world that we can perceive with our senses. 2. Skepticism: Charvakas are highly skeptical of religious doctrines, rituals, and any knowledge that cannot be verified through direct perception. They reject the authority of the Vedas and other religious texts. 3. Ethics and Enjoyment: In terms of ethics, Charvakas advocate for a hedonistic approach to life. They believe that the primary goal of life is to seek pleasure and avoid pain. They argue that since there is no afterlife, one should focus on enjoying this life to the fullest. 4. Epistemology: Charvakas rely on direct perception (pratyaksha) as the only valid source of knowledge. They dismiss inference (anumana) and testimony (shabda) as unreliable. 5. Critique of Religion: The Charvaka tradition is known for its strong criticism of religious practices and beliefs. They view religious rituals as a means for priests to exploit people. Though the Charvaka school has largely disappeared and its texts are not fully preserved, its influence is still noted in the history of Indian philosophy. The tradition represents a counterpoint to the more spiritual and religiously inclined schools of thought in Hinduism.

370 Article, Ram temple but Abhijit forgot how Modi tackled Covid! Everyone in the world was waiting to see India to fail, but India prevailed)))
Absolutely
The real success of this government is handling COVID situation, COVID vaccination program and clever handling economy during COVID and Ukraine war. But nobody is talking about it.
Modiji saw what many of us eager beavers did not see as to how difficult it was to steer this uncouth ship called Bharat.
Absolutely true when you say the whole world (i feel mainly west) was waiting to see India fail. I used to think jealousy is only at the personal level....but my God I was wrong...I realize these days how much the west doesn't like anyone else but their countries to flourish and be powerful. They just can't take if India is doing good
You do know how Indians were dying left and right during 2nd wave of COVID??? And may God protect those who took covi shield 😂😂😂😂

You're being sarcastic, right? Because the only complaint I have with this podcast was how much Smitha interrupted them to give her own inputs.

I am in USA for many years. What Modi ji and voters of Bharat (by choosing him twice), have done for Bharat and Sanatan is phenomenal - a long list of achievements and progress that makes our hearts filled with pride and deep respect.
The way others have started to see us and feel about Bharat itself is a huge feat which was really unthinkable at one time.
He has single-handedly created a new image which is much larger and taller than past.
Wonderful conversation. This needs to be spread and taught to the present generation youngsters.
Other than Charvaka, there are several other major schools of thought in Hinduism. Here’s an overview:
1. Vedanta:
• Advaita Vedanta: Propounded by Adi Shankaracharya, it teaches non-dualism, asserting that the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman) are identical.
Major Bhakti traditions include:
• Shaivism: Devotion to Shiva.

Religion is sampradaya, dharma is dharma, dharma of king is to rule well, dharma of common man is to be honest, work hard etc. There is difference in religion and dharma.
I wish for that too, Hindus/Indians as a general should not be ashamed to celebrate or embrace their culture

Regarding families moving to the West, where the parents are finding a disconnect from their children brought up in the West:
The parents didn't understand then that letting go of their roots, including Bharat and Hindu history, Hindu philosophical studies, ritualistic practices, etc., for a one-track focus on making money or overcompensating on fitting in with the white crowd, would become such a backstabbing negligence on their part.
Good for you but I call this the 0.00001% impact theory, in my limited time abroad though I live in India now permanently the worst culprits of defacing and destroying Hindu culture are so called instagram Sanatanis, I have had the unfortunate experience of attending many a Diwali parties abroad where Non Veg and Daru was flowing like crazy while the host was claiming to be a Devout Hindu in front of his white friends, I hope none of these wokestwrs ever come back to India and this is what they are teaching their children, ki hamarey Dharm mei sab chalta hai, Fraudsters I call them.

@@not-human9264 bro you are telling only 30% of the truth. Gujrat has a loooonnnnggg history of frequent and severe riots since 1947 and even before that. Min 100 days of the year there used to be curfews in Gujrat. This was all under Congress rule. Hindus used to get beaten always. And hundreds of hindus and muslims have been victims of riots. I myself have witnessed 2 riots and 4 days of curfew in Baroda in the span of 8 days of my stay overthere in 1991 and have heard from residents of Baroda that that was usual phenomenon overthere. Godhra massacre happened within 2 months after modiji was appointed as CM, 2 rail boggies were set on fire and almost 100 Hindu karsewaks returning from Ayodhya were killed. The riots erupted after that incident and it went on for a week or so. Modi did his best to control it but people were moved and provoked by the Godhra massacre. But after 2002 till date there were 0 (absolutely zero) riots. For 22 years, there is bjp rule and no riots have happened.

The Charvaka tradition, also known as Lokayata, is an ancient school of Indian philosophy that is known for its materialistic and atheistic viewpoints. Here are some key points about the Charvaka tradition:

We must preserve our variety and differences be it language, culture, clothing, food habits art music etc etc the list is infinite, to preserve our Bharath, as it was in ancient times. We must never ever become the followers of monotony. This difference is the basic reason for bharath to survive and succeed till date. Lets celebrate our differences. India is invincible only if she preserves these variety in all walks of life, the underlying unity gets its strength from the difference on the top. Believer or non-believer are not words that have come from Sanatan. Charvaka was an equally well-respected, one of the six schools of Sanatan Tatva-gyan ! It has nothing to do with believing in ‘god’ or not. It refers to the basic view one has towards the life and the world around us. And every view was equally respected then.
