Man, I love this guy... "These two are Neves. These others are knockoffs, but they're pretty much the same." "That's just a stud wall between the control room and the live room. Soundproofing is pretty much the worst thing you can do." He tells it like it is, from years of experience. A lot to learn here.
"I don't have an extensive mic collection..."
@@morganbebell9003 😃😃😃
@@morganbebell9003 Well, it really isn't that extensive - BUT What he DOES HAVE is Jaw dropping. Of course, for live he has a dozen 57s and 58s, Sennheisers, etc - but he meant "Extensive Studio Mic Collection." He mentioned Black Bird Studios in Nashville, which DOES have an extensive mic collection.
That was a fun watch!
Mr. Clearmountain seems like the loveliest guy on the planet he is so wholesome and down to earth, he just loves music this was very enjoyable to watch
Dude . Your wife is a keeper. The way you talk , you love her, Keep producing and listen that great wife of yours. Long live.
Wow - I worked for what must have been thousands of hours on that very desk when it was in Power Station A. Nice to see it again! (And you too, Bob - hope you are well!)
Cool - I hope all the artists appreciated your efforts! However your piece on the political left & entropy was utter nonsense.
@@tb-cg6vd Per your comment "Cool - I hope all the artists appreciated your efforts! However your piece on the political left & entropy was utter nonsense."...
You say you 'hope' all the artists... blah, blah?
You don't hope for anything he's done, for music created/enjoyed, or artists. You lie without a thought otherwise.
Your opinion... regarding Malcom Pollack's piece on the political left and entropy?
Besides being presented along side a lie, it's nonsense.
In fact, your comment (possibly your entire existence, IDK) is nonsense - and likely a waste of resources.
'Cool' you say..? (before being a douche, of course)
I'm afraid you wouldn't know 'cool' if it slapped your face, tb303.
Cool doesn't go along with status quo. 🙄
James Dean was cool, for example. He was a rebel - not a leftist. He didn't go along with status quo - or political correctness.
If alive today, he would have kicked leftist butt every time he encountered it. 🥋 (because it sucks, of course)
Leftism is a parasitical, weak, fearful, panicked-state-of-mind collective.🐛 It is not cool at all. Neither are Leftists.
In summary, today... Hitler, Stalin and Mao would probably be very proud of the Left.
The 'Leftist' cats mentioned above would likely also be somewhat proud of you, too, tb303. Especially considering what you accomplished here on YT... with your 'socially responsible', uncool comment above.
Whereas, James Dean..? For many, very cool reasons... he's laying in his grave right now - disgusted with you - and everything the Left stands, or better yet, 'sucks-off-of' others for.😎
@@tb-cg6vd BS! Malcom nailed it. You lefties hate the truth. You live in the twilight zone.
@@apstech4618 That left-wing politics is like degenerate entropy? I hope you're wearing a silver-foil hat to protect you from social progress! PS. I'm not a leftie, I'm a scientist who hates bullshit crap about entropy etc. Stick that in your twilight zone!
@@tb-cg6vd Dr Fauci must be your idol LOL!
I like Bob, the way he speaks, his wealth of knowledge and his approach to dealing with music in general. Thank you for putting this together!
I wonder if 2016 Andrew would have believed that 2022 Andrew was in Clearmountain's studio whilst pushing 100k subs on the channel. Inspiring stuff, well done.
Yeah definitely not! haha Thanks!
@@AndrewMasters You are doing the music world an incredible service. Thank you.
BOB CLEARMOUNTAIN IS THE STANDARD FOR CLEAR , RESONANT BASS AND DRUMS. THANK YOU BOB FOR ALWAYS KEEPING YOUR STANDARDS HIGH. ❤️
Living legend. What an honor to meet him and have him tour this studio for you!
What a lovely down to earth guy Bob is. Amazing studio. 🙏👍
No sound isolation, just treatment and that's Bob's starting point. Much like a ported speaker.
This was fantastic! An educational tour conducted by a legend. Right on.:)
It's clear by the interviews you've been getting lately big time people really respect your work. I'm hoping to grow my channel in a similar way. Thanks for the inspiration Andrew
Clearmountain was called the "the greatest mixer in the world" by the greatest mastering engineer in the world Bob Ludwig,
Bob's body of work speaks for itself, but his whole vibe is clearly why he's been such a huge success, over such a long period. I've seen lots of vids from his mix room, but this is the best look around the Apogee studio that I've seen yet. Time well spent! 👍
So when is he coming over to interview the owner of the old Philips studio. Wisseloord studios. The Netherlands ?
Im loving all the interviews that youre doing lately, Clearmountain is awesome and definitely was in the right place at the right time, thanks for doing these videos fella
Absolutely love these!
Bob's pretty down to earth for a living legend! Nicely done, Andrew!
this! ❤
That was cool! I never got a proper full tour of this space. Very cool video and back stories!
Sylvia Massey has a similar idea in that she doesn't even really have a control room. She just has a big room with everything in it. This is a great video. Thanks for doing this one!
What an excellent video, thank you and Bob, it's always good to learn from or elders and those who know.
It´s always so refreshing to listen to Bob! So down to earth!
What a chill and knowledgeable dude. Class act.
Great Job, an epic interview with a legendary mixer!
making a 5.1 compressor i imagine is the same as making a stereo compressor. You simply sum up all the channels on a bus and use that as your key input on all 5 compressors. Although you can play around with this by sending or less of any of the channels to have a different response from the compressor
This is a great interview I appreciate this thank you
Bob seem like a really nice guy to work with, so chill. Great video, and very nice studio.
Great work Andrew...Bob is a stone cold legend.
Thank You, Bob! Great tour Andrew new sub.
Loved seeing Bob and the Apogee Studio again 😍
Greetings from Germany
Nice tour. Always wondered what the Apogee studio looked like. Bob is awesome. Great to see you join the 5211 Mic Pre club. I’ve got four 5211 units 🖤
Brilliant show love the recording systems 👍😁👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Another great video, thank you very much that you meeting all of us with so nice and amazing positive people. Be blessed and keep going....!!!
Amazing most inspiring studio tour. Love his attitude plus correcting what we was taught wrong for years.. Thank You!
That was absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much for that video! When I first saw that Nev I thought it was the one that I helped install it Sound City ages ago but it's obviously I different bored
@19:34 imagine you got invited to a little gig and as you walk in to the venue you notice Bob Clearmountain behind a little Soundcraft board mixing the sound 🤯🤯
hahaha dude his little aside on an over reliance on soundproofing was golden.
Amazing studio with great stuff in it... I wish that I can with this guy with a lot of experience.... TQ for sharing... Appreciated
Fantastic tour & video.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend! And his studio! Wow! Greetings from Sweden!
I’ve followed Bob Clearmountain since my early days in the studio business.
Smart guy and his mixes are outstanding.
Thanks for the interview!! Lots of interesting info.
super dope clean
The man himself. Bob clearmountain! Great interview. These videos are part of my Monday morning breakfast now! Keep up the great work Andrew Masters! 👍🏿👍🏿
Legendary engineer and great producer. Awesome tour!
Great video, absolute legend. Thanks.
Andrew thanks for the great content! =)
Bob is the nicest guy in the business!! A real humble gentleman!
Thank you Bob. So much of how I view and perceive audio today, is thanks to you and your countless masterpieces.
First album (cassette tape) I ever owned was Bryan Adams - Reckless, a birthday present from my Aunt. It shaped my love for audio. Over the years, numerous different artists and genre's of music, a familiar name kept popping up in the engineering and mixing credits of the albums I loved, Bob Clearmountain. Truely a legend.
Such an incredible insight. Thank you Andrew.
40 years later, Bob's name is still synonymous with absolute class audio and mixes that have outlasted all the production fads over the years.
Your video says it all... thanks Andrew...
If I get a garage I'm building the same damn thing lol 😆, that's the great Bob Clearmountain dropping knowledge and love that set-up it's fantastic 😍😍😍.
this is great, what a lovely bloke
You can only go down hill from here…. The legend!
This was an amazing video!
This guy is a legend I've learnt a bit from bob and he's quite inspiring
17:38 Truth! I wish more thought like this.
Amazing studio tour. You do an excellent job and probably, one of the best regarding this topic. It would be great if you can produce more educational video's in your own studio, video's about the history about certain instrument / equipment etc (like some of the priceless stuff in this and some of your other video's), story about artists who produced music in some of the studios you toured, song produced, the setup, etc. The fact that you have have access to these amazing studio's, will provide you with this unique opportunity. And it will definitely grow your youtube channel.
Btw, I was waiting to see how Bob connects all those speakers to his dolby setup.
Once again, thank you very much.
Ohh...! Having a location like that for taping/streaming live performances!
Must also be fantastic for the musician with a small intimate club feel with a smaller audience.
Brings back that MTV unplugged vibes...
Amazing, and bob is down to earth as always. Did you also interview him in his mixing room at home? That would be great, he is the best mixing engineer in the world.
Great vid again mate!
these guys are generous with their time, bob has done many interviews with other youtubers, awesome
This is the Best studio tour epic ( plesss we need Bob mixing studio) thanks
Bob is the absolute best and nicest guy. 👍
Get u a Betty 👌🏾💪🏾
Keep Spreading The Love ❤
Your channel is dope. I dig the concept of running around checking out studio gear and hearing the history behind them. It’s like VHS behind the music!!
Owned two 8068 an I miss them every day. Deff going to get one more before I get to old. That console is so sic. Looks clean I’m sure it’s a MK2
Just listen to Tears for Fears' "Woman in Chains" from the late 80s. Make sure you are wearing good headphones, turn the volume up and listen to the multiple-dimensions of sound and the cascading "ear candy" that deeply impacts the emotional dynamics of the song. That is what a Clearmountain mix sounds like. Outstanding legend.. What a great interview and excursion - thank yoiu.
Glad to see they got the Sennheiser MK4 and MK8, I use them at my home too
what a cool guy. Very honest and down to earth.
This makes me want to see a Bearsville studio tour so bad! If anyone can make it happen, Andrew can!
That B3 and Leslie 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
A truly EPIC studio! Great tour and interview.
Thank you!
One of my favs so far.
BOB IS THE MAN..
i remember commenting on his website and when he responded i was like a little girl, this guy is a bigger deal that any one of the artists he has mixed.
Completely agree, he's a legend in my eyes
Was that a Peavey Bandit in Bob's attic?! Finally, I can say I own some of the same gear the pros do. Great tour/interview as always, thanks Andrew!
Yeah!! And I also own some Mackie SRM450's and when a helicopter flies over my studio I can also hear it..... It was never a big deal for me, but it's good to know I'm in good company! :)
I love this
Great job Andrew and your squad -- Really well done, and it's great seeing Bob and Apogee's space!
Sharp!
Dope full 7.1+.4 system :)
DOPEEEEE
Major League!!
Andrew, when Bob pulled out the device upstairs and you said “is that a recorder?” That was an ADAT BRC remote controller. I had a 24 track ADAT setup in 2000, and was working for Pearl Drums (Nashville) at the time. They gave me one of these controllers as a 10 year anniversary present. Can’t believe it was that long ago! ADAT was the best option in that era between reel-to-reel and hard disc recording. Crazy but fun times. BTW - great video. Bob is such a legend! Check out Warren Heart’s Produce Like a Pro interview where they talk about Tears for Fears “Seeds of Love” album. Very cool!
Adatsmand BRC... i am reliving nightmares....
Unreal.
12:19 spotted an URSA MAJOR space station on the bottom of that rack woooooooo
Well spotted! That is a rare item indeed :)
drooling
Now this is Gonna Be Truely EEEEEEEPPPPIIICCC!!!!!!!
Yeah buddy!
This is big time goals! I want a studio just like this one day!
What a pleasant person!
This guys awesome
What a career!
Andrew da 🐐 no 🧢
Living legend.
Just smashed like for coffee....
CBGB pma , love to see it !
Very nice
My knowledge of mixing, and recording studios goes about as far as "they got mics their right" Although I truly enjoyed this presentation of Mr. Clearmountain's "Garage Studio Setup" Even as someone as myself, not very knowledgeable in this field, I could really get into all the cool tech behind the scenes evolved that basically where it all starts to record and produce great music. What a cool guy Bob is too! Thanks for sharing your awesome studio with us.
awesome
Big Studio
wow,, just wow
he mentioned the Ball microphone joints What were they?
Very cool to see him so laid back and friendly. love seeing the gear he uses is stuff that some of us can even afford.
Maybe Mick Guzauski is up for this? Bob is a real GOAT loved the vid thanks
