I'd deffo be doing an ESR test on those old 'lytics. I'd also be very suspicious if the capacitance reads significantly higher than it's supposed to be - it's a good sign of a wrong 'un.

There are other Amps by Audiotronic that do come up in a Google search... But they are probably earlier or later than that one. From the look of the builds; layout and types of PCB's It is reminiscent of a number of Japanese manufacture products of that era. It could even be a rebranded version of a proprietary big brand. Toshiba used to do that a lot. Good luck; you'll probably need it; especially if its caps that are the problem.. Some equipment of the era used some weird values.. From the style and layout; especially that encased transformer; you may be looking at a Sanyo product.

May I suggest you use your T7 to test the capacitors? Multi meters will give you an rough capacitance reading but don't measure ESR, the T7 will give you both, along with voltage loss.

It can be a pain in the arse getting some capacitors in the tester to be fair

@@FixitAde Get yourself some little crocodile clips on a short bit of wire, leave those clamped into the tester. Cap testing becomes much easier :)

@@FixitAde Another option would be to add some wires attached to those small mini-grabber clips, and solder them to the board - and drill a hole to allow them through the case (I used some heat shrink around the wires through the hole to allow for some strain relief there). .... And like others said, if the caps read higher than the stated markings plus their tolerance, it's a sure sign the caps are bad. I think the ones you were saying were fine, were actually significantly higher - so I believe those caps are indeed bad.

Great realtime repair. Your soldering iron link doesnt work. May I know what solder lead you're using? Seems easy to work with.

I learnt the hard way with the solder, it really is a case of spending a bit more to get decent solder instead of the cheap crap on amazon (same with solder wick) I have 2 main types of solder, the thicker solder is leaded and the thin solder is unleaded both were purchased from CPC
