I’m a pianist and what he’s saying is amazing based on chord theory. Even though it was fast, watch like 5 seconds a day and practice and you’ll make great progress
What? Maybe the most simple theory ever, & nobody is going to memorize the fretboard from this. Playing piano will help you memorize the fretboard tho, that's how I did it, but this is actually the best way... ua-cam.com/video/PJddQ6Q0UDo/v-deo.html
I was not convinced by the video, but I'm convinced by your comment. I've been playing for many years, I never needed to memorize fretboard. I kinda know which note is where from intuition. And I can play anything from ear. But I see the application. It can be useful for making chords, or applying music theory.
In regards to the guitar's tuning, I believe the reason for the B-string being tuned differently than the others (tuned to the 4th fret of the adjacent lower string instead of 5th fret like all other guitar strings) is so that you end up with a 24 note span between the lowest string and highest instead of 25 notes and therefore an even two octaves (low E string and high E string). This allows chords to be played across all 6 strings. And as far as why the 4 fret jump didn't happen between the highest two strings, since most chord types contain a perfect 5th from the root note (chords types such as major, minor, 7th chords, sus, power chord, etc), it makes sense to preserve the root/5th relationship of the E and B strings so that they can always be played at the same fret, allowing for barre chords.
As a 23 year old who started playing guitar at 12 (self-taught), then stopped at 14 for about 7 years until i picked it up again, i've been at a plateau between novice and intermediate for so long. Doesn't help that i strictly play punk/hardcore and alternative rock either. I feel like memorizing this and practicing it would help me break through enough, at least in terms of understanding. Thank you for this brilliant simplified explanation! I needed this 2 years ago so i'm so glad it's here now

I just figured this out last night before watching this video. It’s tripping me out how the UA-cam algorithm works. I wonder if it knew I knew. All because of a song I keep playing and I could do it on the higher octave. And it sounds just as right.
I watched one video and it talked about circles of fifths and a bunch of crazy music theory and the guy actually physically labeled every note on the fretboard, it was possibly a great nerdy explanation but I didn’t understand it all. This was much more simple and easy to understand thank you

This was actually much more helpful than I thought it would be
Man, I’m just learning the guitar in this video has made the most sense of actually learning where the notes are to play
HEY!
congrats on 100k :D
Best guitar tutorial ever
Could someone transcribe this in meme plz
Woooosssshhhhhhhh...... straight over my head. Got metal nailed - E5 power chord - either palm muted or not. Everything else is incidental;-)
I needed this 2 years ago so i'm so glad it's here now
I like how the stick figure you’re teaching has a mustache made it feel more personal, great vid!
I thought it was a mouth 😂 all confused and scared and shit
@@DonRoyalX haha same!
this is the most confusing video I've ever watched
Agreed 👍
Long story short, learn one note all over the fretboard per day. Repeat until fretboard memorized.
It's actually terrible.
@@morgoth2882 Yep. So much for "3 MINUTES," huh?
Four minutes of my life wasted in this dumb video.
Several months ago I watched this video, and got nothing spoken there, but, today, I came across to this video again, and surprise, I understood everything! I guess, I've made a small progress)
I already memorize the fretboard but is still clicked this, and I'm not disappointed.
That was great! Really educational and entertaining at the same time
Soomehow the rapid fire info, jokes, and the memru techniques like 'Good Bye' actually feels like ill remember this once i figure out how to play one string without fat fingering another one lol
i didn’t remember a single thing but thank you
Great information and very entertaining! Been practicing on and off for a couple years now. I definitely learned a couple of things here. Nice work!
I just figured this out last night before watching this video. It’s tripping me out how the UA-cam algorithm works. I wonder if it knew I knew.
All because of a song I keep playing and I could do it on the higher octave. And it sounds just as right.
The CAGED system really does help
Hilariously informative! Had classes taught me like this I would be so much further along!! Earned ya a subscriber and a Like!
I watched one video and it talked about circles of fifths and a bunch of crazy music theory and the guy actually physically labeled every note on the fretboard, it was possibly a great nerdy explanation but I didn’t understand it all. This was much more simple and easy to understand thank you
This is an amazing video-he's nailed everything to start. Play it at .5-.75x slower speed, and you'll get it. 👍👍👍
Nice class, didn’t get a big part from it but nice class...
Bro this is actually helping understand this
0:45 "Hopefully your already have that memorized if not.... Uhh" really funny to me
Love it! Super entertaining. Good overlooked thought for many guitarists.
