Great vid dude! I feel like, as a big fan of any halo game, each game was enjoyable to play. Even though there were disappointing parts to some of them, I really feel like Infinite has the best grasp on balancing old and new.
Let's not forget that during Halo infinite's flight testing that a lot of people complained about how the aiming was and still is affected to this day and 343 has yet to fix that problem. It's no surprise that not many people talk about it because they only look at it through the surface level lenses and it's bad enough that something so simplistic as far as a first-person shooter goes is the one main detractor for me because I'm basically fighting against the game's own mechanics that are supposed to help me rather than fight against me not to mention that the forced cross play has ruined the experience
Well made video, as always. As someone who listens to Halo music every single day, I'm disappointed that you didn't speak about the music. 😅 This maybe a unpopular opinion but I don't hate Halo 5 story and it's not a bad story either. It's not good, sure, but it had an idea and needed proper execution. In terms or art style, I do understand their motivations for certain decisions for example, the reason why Elites look a bit less "Elite" in Halo 4 is because they wanted to emphasize how they have fallen off grace since the Covenant fell. But as always, they kinda suck at execution. I think they shouldn't ahev taken the radical route when it comes to art style. But story direction is something I appreciate for trying. Halo 4's story is right next to Halo 2 for me. I understand the fact that 343 is made up of devs and artists who want to express their ideas and ambitions. Every artist is eager prove themselves and proud of what they have accomplished. So sometimes what they think as right might not be perceived the same way by fans. And it was NECESSARY for 343 to create their own identity, but some would say it's egotistical and they should've followed Bungie but I'm sure even if 343 followed Bungie's ideas, Bungie will always have advantage of Novelty Effect and 343's games will be judged against these near-mythical games made by Bungie regardless of weather CE's story has depth or not. I felt like Halo 4 just followed Halo Reach, with 343 assuming that "Halo Reach did good in sales, so fans must be loving it" and went ahead to double down on all the mechanics. And I don't think it plays like COD. Maybe some similarities but not really. Word of mouth gets everywhere and people just agree with that opinion regardless of how they felt playing the game. I've said this multiple times, they should've iterated on Halo 4 not renovate it again for Halo 5. Take the feedback and analyse it. Stick to the original story vision, don't change it because some people didn't like it. I'm more into lore, so I definitely appreciate the effort 343 put into expanding it and developing more complex stories and themes. Personality, I don't care if sprint exists or not but if it's there, I do think it can't be very fast. Infinite's gamplay is perfect IMO--Gameplay, art style, storytelling (well, it should've been longer but I digress) and general feel (for the most part). I do really hope they iterate on Infinite's formula for the future games. Delta Arena was a lot of fun though. Wanted to say some more things but forgot then along the way. Anyway, tnx. 🙃
Yeah, you know what, you are right about the music. I’m going to have to make a video on that soon. Music is a big part of Halo for sure. what a great comment!
2:32 As someone that somewhat new to the franchise I can safely say it's not nostalgia. The older games are simply better. And 343 don't have a clue what their doing.
@@TechnoTron_ i was being sarcastic lol. but i also dont think its "just" a rebrand. with lay offs, firings, new leadership, a new interest in updating infinite, i think its more than that :)
@@Hollowtide The "new" management shows me that they also don't know what they're doing. It remains to make seen if they can be anything with meaning.

Nostalgia can be a killer to an IP whether that’s music, film, or television. People are always not gonna easily accept changes unless they themselves accept change. Which is why I haven’t been much of a hater and more of a lover for the franchise regardless. I make memes out of, enjoy it, cherish it, and last but not least remember that at the end of the day it’s a video game. Not some god or deity. Honestly now with the Bungie Stans they objectively lose because Destiny right now is in complete shambles.
The father is the son in every single way still. Halo studios “celebrating” the 20th anniversary of a game they didn’t make with a $50 super bundle and $26 kit of halo 2 master chief proves this. They’re in it only to milk the most amount of money out of the playerbase stills while putting in the lowest amount of effort.
@@fissilepear7805 without a doubt, I only wish people were as passionate for the truth as you are when it was bluntly obvious during the beta for infinite and their previous years of tyranny.
Imo the worst thing they can do to a storyline is to abandon it. H5 was a generally connected sequel to H4, but Infinite just f*cked over the whole "Reclaimer Saga". I know its a hot take, but I'd rather get the real Halo 6 than a CE remake. For example, lets look at the bayverse transformers films: First 3 movies said to be peak, but when a new storyline starts everybody started whining that its different. And because of that, when the story I was getting hyped up for since the 4th film got totally scraped right before its climax. And then we got bumblebee, which i think is pretty good its still a big slap to every fan of the bayverse, and we might never get an ending for that story.
Halo 4 I actually liked quite a bit, but nothing tops Bungie Halos to me. Infinite is the best 343 multiplayer in my eyes. I think videogames in general are better with mystery in it without feeding you cutscenes and over complicating the story. At that point I might as well watch a movie or show. This is also why Sony exclusives don't sit well with me. I want to play a game not an interactive movie. Now I know Sony style games aren't exactly like Telltale games, but take the damn training wheels off and let me explore. I just prefer old school style of gaming similar to From Software games and a lot of Nintendo games. That's the point. The player embodies the character, not the other way around.

"The odds have been stacked against 343 (Halo Studios) in several ways..." No, 343 (Halo Studios) stacked the odds against themselves by radically changing the franchise of which they were given control. I'm going to finish watching the video now, but it's important to point out that you don't have a massive fan base with drastically different expectations and preferences with each release, if 343 makes Halo 4 a much more linear sequel to Halo 3...in terms of art style, gameplay, presentation, etc and so on.
I understand what you are saying and why you are saying it. But I think it’s a bit silly to think that 343 wasn’t going to get compared, no matter of fair or unfair, to one of the greatest runs in the history of gaming. This stuff happens all the time in media and entertainment. I’m pretty sure I talk about a consistent approach at the end of video tho. Something 343 has lacked between games
@@Hollowtide Right, but there's nothing wrong with them being compared to Bungie. As you mentioned, that was inevitable. It's not the comparison that is the problem. It's the crazy and undeniable contrast when one compares them. And that wild contrast was their own decision and doing.
@@Hollowtide 343 had been created almost exclusively with the idea of continuing the Halo franchise after Bungie's departure. Because of that there was always going to be a level of expectation for them to not only carry on Bungie's level of quality, but improve upon it. Especially when they were working directly under Microsoft, with the resources that the company has. In defense of Halo 4, it was a promising start, putting Master Chief in a position we had never really seen the character before. The Multiplayer was rightfully blasted for departing too far from Halo's core identity, and when pressed about it, 343's response in Halo 5 had been to double down on it. Then there was the messy release of MCC with servers not working properly, crashes aplenty, smug developers/writers... like many other situations such as these, the fans gave 343 every opportunity to sway them back and it never happened. Some of the blame may fall on Microsoft and their treatment of the franchise as well, but to say it's unfair because it happens all the time and the fans never gave it a chance is superfluous.
