- We took Tundra out hiking with her new boots. How did she do? Also, we had a Valentine's Day celebration and something special for Tundra at the end.

GSP's are AMAZING dogs, I have had three since 1998.... the first from a pup...they are WILD and CRAZY......the second and third were both rescue dogs. I LOVE GSPs! ❤️❤️Tundra is a lucky girl to have such loving parents!

She is definitely 100% GSP, from standing beside you while cooking to being completely disgusted by lettuce.
We were a bit skeptical about it when she’s out in the field and going full speed. But after this day these shoes really worked better than we anticipated. She adapted to it so quickly as well. This girl hates lettuce 😂😂
i have had two short hairs and loved both of them, as long as you exercise them, they love to run and are the easiest dogs to train, enjoy her she will give you the rarest of the rare gifts, unconditional love.

@tundrathegsp where can we find these? We're getting a GSP puppy next month. We live in Fl so the pavement is hot 90% of the year. We have room to run but I'd like her to have shoes if we go somewhere that we may walk on pavement.

Wow! Your letter to Tundra was so special and touching. It was perfect timing for me since we just got a GSP puppy a 2 weeks ago. It is hard for me to put into words how hard it is, yet we already love the little bugger. Your letter said it the way I couldn’t. The frustration and the pain of the biting is so difficult. I already feel like a bad mom when I get upset and cry. And have already said many times to my husband “did we get devil dog, did we make a mistake?” So, again, your letter and videos are wonderful, we started watching them in anticipation to getting Ripley. So thanks for your words, honesty and letting us watch the joy you share with that wonderful dog. ❤
We feel your pain. It’s hard in the beginning when they’re a pup but it will get better as they grow older and start to mature. Take it one day at a time and be consistent even when it feels like there isn’t much progress. Enjoy the journey and one day you guys will look back and laugh about it. Life long GSP owner enthusiasts. While high maintenance, they are good pets. In my opinion the best pheasant hunting dogs.
Living in Arizona we also have coyotes all over the place. My last dog was a 110 pound lab/staffy/??? mix. I took him for a walk one evening after work in the desert just outside of town. As soon as I let him off leash, a single coyote ran up on us and started playing with my dog. She led my dog off into the desert and no amount of calling would get him to come back. I took off running, trying to catch up. After a few minutes I found a dead coyote. Then another one. Then I found my dog rag dolling a third dead coyote like a toy with another dead one lying nearby. I was never so terrified and then so proud in my life.
Anyway, moral of the story is that coyotes will sometimes go after larger dogs, especially if they are in a bigger pack or especially hungry. And not all large dogs know how to defend themselves as well as some others. That being said, 99% of the time, coyotes are not much of a threat to a decent sized dog.

Yeahhh now she can go anywhere without any problem... She will win the whole world with her shoes🥰🥰... She should meet my boomer (my GSP)... He is gonna be super happy to see her😄😄

Oh my, the letter says more than I could say when I got my GSP. I cried just as much as you did. We relate so much. 🙏🏻They are so different from other dogs, they just accept the best and worst of us, with their high energy and crazy affection. I grew up along with the 7 GSP my grandparents had (1 at a time) and never imagined how hard it is to raise just one. People could easily give up, but perseverance is key with these dogs. I wish Tundra and Dobby were able to meet, Texas - Nevada are not so far from each other after all 😅
This was our first puppy and we fell in love with a crazy energetic breed 😂. It was rough in the beginning and at one point we thought we needed to put her in some type of training/obedience class. You’re right, we needed to persevere. We cannot wait to get Tundra a sibling since a lot of owners said 2 is easier than having 1. Would be nice for Dobby and Tundra to meet someday 😀.
My 13 year old GSP died last February. I miss her sooooo much. I’m STILL not over it. I will get me another GSP in early summer.

Tundra is beautiful, her coat and looks are exceptional. My father breed German Shorthaired Pointers and I grew up with them. Great family dogs, great around babies and kids, and always wanting to be with you and please you. They are very smart, demand attention, and have great personalities. I have a male named Hawkeye, the most talkative GSP I have ever seen. He is a trip, I look forward to seeing him every day when I get home. We have always hunted with our dogs, however if you let them run and be a dog, like you are doing with Tundra you can't go wrong. They grow on you, I am glad to see how much you love your dog. They are with us for a short time so enjoy ever moment. The shoes are a good idea, a broken bottle cut the pad on my dog's paw. I have a set of shoes for my dog, but they need to be taped on, which is kinda of a pain. I will probably order a pair from wagwear, just curious what size does Tundra wear? I am guessing she is 40 to 50 LBS, so M or L? Hawkeye is 67 LBS, so I am guessing L or XL for the size? Thanks
Hi, thank you for your generous and kind words. We totally agree with everything that you said and we try our best to give Tundra the best life possible. She is such a great dog and time does fly when we’re together. Tundra is about 60 pounds her shoes is size Large.
Love trundra in her new shoes she done really well in thm . Loved yr speech yr right in every thing u said but by the time thy are 2 they have calmed down a lot more but as puppies they are a handful 😂 our gsps follow us around every where we go so loyal ❤💖🥰 trundra is just like our younger gsp very demanding 😂
Tundra did great and thankfully the shoes stayed on 😂. Her early puppy stage was really rough and we’re glad she has matured and is obedient now. We know once she calms down we will miss her craziness 🥰🥰. Everywhere you turn and they’re next to you 🤣

Yes you definitely miss them being crazy . But I always think they are ready to go even whn they are fully grown up into old age . We love tht it would not seem right with a dog Tht diddent wanna do much we love the more energy dogs they give u so much happiness 😀😀😂🥰

That valentine was so loving and beautiful. It expressed what many owners of GSP's go through. I know I did, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love mine and this breed. 💜🐾🐾🐾

The dead pieces of cholla on the ground are what get my Mina. She's oddly pretty skilled at removing them herself cause I'll see that she's stepped on one and by the time I get to her to help it's gone. Most the time... there are the times I get there and it's no longer on her foot but stuck on her face 😕
Aww...that is so painful. That is actually pretty cool that your girl can remove it on her own. Tundra just keeps going while its stuck on her.

Lived in Davis while going to UC. my shorthair Cupid and I would do 10 miles a day just to keep him level headed. ANYWAY,... Davis has Goats Head thorns, nasty little natural land mines. Couple of times he and I would pull up short after passing a section of trail covered in them,...He was tough as nails, but would pull up hard at those things. Had to spend some time getting them out,...then walking a bike with literally hundreds of holes, bleeding green tire goo. He just wouldn't do shoes...
GSP’s are really tough. There were a few times when Tundra had these long thorns/spikes stuck on both of her back legs and she kept running. Even a few on her toes. We could not believe that she was still able to run. Ended up taking it out and she was back to her sprints. I guess these booties would only work for some and not the other GSP’s.
The next shoes are going to be like $500 Nike shoes for dogs😂

im a 1st time gsp owner and wow your dog although a differant color combination reminds me of my boy charlie, they have the most diverse personality its hard not to love the crap out of them..thanks for sharing..do you ever enounter snakes?
Totally agree. Their personalities are so lovable. We love her goofiness 🤗. There are snakes here but luckily we have not encountered any.
Question…about how many pounds is your GSP? I believe mine is undersized. Around 42 pounds. She’s still an athletic freak, but was just curious.
She is about 60 pounds.

How sturdy are these against sharp rocks?
They are sturdy. Just make sure to get the correct size for your dog.
part of the "dk" standard , which is the german breeding standard for gsp's , is the ability to "dispatch " animals ....... meaning the ability to hunt and kill animals like coyotes .... that and the fact a gsp can run at mach 5 , means they should never have a issue with a coyote , even several of them
