    Good news that he's decided on a new engine. Snapped crank = risk of warped block = issues down the line after rebuild
    Great to see it coming along!

      My thoughts too. It'll happen again or something else will go.

    hi Steve just a little tip I drop a 20mm plastic pipe through the body mounting rubbers on the chassis till in touches the floor then spray a bit of white paint around it on the floor, l do this through every mounting then you can roll the chassis out for steaming/cleaning, push it back slide the 20mm pipe back through line the marks up again presto it works every time. Cheers Derek lee

      Another way is to screw a length of threaded bar into the 2 rear body mont holes and the 2 fronts, then lower the body till the 4 threaded bars go through the mounting rubbers on the chassis, once on, unscrew the bars and put the bolts in. It will be lined up perfectly.

    Great video! Love watching landys being pulled apart...! Unfortunately I didn’t get to do half enough of this fun and games while at the Jlr dealership 😥 ! Most of the time spent slinging ingeniums around the place!

    I have a question . What does this all cost to overhaul a 2012 RR sport V6 diesel with 350k KM ? I love the car and think it is time for an OH , hate to loose her but Paint and OH would be an option for the next 10 years

    I have always liked the look of Range Rover Sports, but I'm thinking that having to take the body off for so many jobs on these really puts these beyond viable DIY maintenance. I will stick with my XJ with the same engine. I already changed a turbo, oil pump, front belt and rear belt with the engine in the car.

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  4 роки тому

      There's a lot you can do with the body on. I dont normally take the body off to change the engine.

    • @pistonbroke

      Material between the journals way too thin. OK in a Jaguar as the car is lighter and less likely to tow heavy stuff but in a Land Rover it's under way too much stress.

    What mileage was on the broken engine? Do you think it was the usual oil pump failure ? I am repairing a 2.7 with 82K miles which had a severe oil leak at N/S exhaust cam, when I stripped of the cam cover the caps looked as though they were starting to melt!!

    • @pistonbroke

      This was a couple of years ago. 112,000 miles springs to mind but I might be wrong. Oil pump hadn't failed.

    A lot of folks have said the same with regards to rebuilding these, everyone seems to suggest that the new crank snap after six months anyways. Has anyone actually rebuild one and has lasted for more than 10k miles ?

    • @pistonbroke

    I have a question can you remove engine from the land rover / range rover with out taken the body off chassis

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  4 роки тому

      Yes, I used to work at a main dealer and never took the body off to do the 2.7 tdv6. The 3.0 looks a bit tighter so it may not thats why I took the body off on this one. TDV8 definitely wont come out with the body on.
