    TEXT VERSION:
    1. download PS brushes you need.
    2. use ABRmate to open the ABR file, and export all as PNG
    3. open png in photoshop and create an Action where you: create a new black layer for background, invert brush image color(control+i), and change color mode to grayscale
    4. to use on multiple files, go to file - script - image processor. find your source folder, choose your destination folder, click make PSD, uncheck make JPEG, and pick the action that you made above.
    5. once all PSD are made (check for any it missed) go back to Image Processor and have it convert all PSDs to JPEGs, make sure Action is UNchecked.
    6. with all new JPEG files, open Bulk Image Converter and convert the JPEGs to BMPs.
    **if they will not be Scatter brushes, simply put them in your Systemax Document Brushtex folder.
    7. One extra step for Scatter brushes, go find your Water Blur ini file in the Systemax Document Brushtex folder. Copy it and rename it after the brushes youre adding.
    8. if you need to rename multiple ini files, use Bulk Rename Utility to to name the files
    - select all the files to be renamed
    - go to the "name" box and select "remove"
    - go to "add" box and put in the base file name you need for your brush
    - go to "numbering" box to add a number as either a prefix or suffix to the file name
    - click rename
    drag all BMP and INI files for the scatter brush into Documents/SYSTEMAX Software Development/SAIv2/settings/scatter
    for brushtext just drag the BMP to Documents/SYSTEMAX Software Development/SAIv2/settings/brushtex
    NOTES:
    - i did not use ABRveiwer because it would not open these new brushes from 2020. ABRmate worked for me
    - i did not export the images as a JPEG first through Image processor, because for some reason my Action would fail! i dont know why but it may work for you, idk

    IMPORTANT ADDITIONS:
    1) when you open the program and go to the tool you added, if it is a scatter brush, you will probably have to alter the settings. you can do this directly on the .ini which will remain saved indefinitely, or you can "reserve" the setting for the tool. when you edit the scatter settings to what you want you MUST save it or it will revert. on the tool window, scroll down to where there are 3 icons under the brush sizes. the one on the right, a small arrow pointing down, will let you save the settings for that brush.
    as far as i am aware it is only reserved once and you cannot reserve multiple... so if you want those setting to stick everytime you pick that brush, you will have to open up your brush's ini file and edit it! it is not hard. you can open it in windows Notepad very easily and all settings match what you see in SAI 2's panel so i suggest leaving it open and refernecing it as you go through to change the ini files. you will have to restart SAI 2 after editing them, though.
    2) since i can only pin one comment, Aversly mentioned that the recorded actions dont work if you make an action not near the center of the canvas! so when it comes to paint bucketing the black, do it in the center as much as you can, as if will fail due to different canvas size.!

      Just wanted a add a couple of words in case you are planning to add new brush from photoshop which can be referred as BRISTLE brush. In my case it was beloved CHALK brush from Aaron Griifin 2019 free set, which actually consists of a dosen or so pixels. So after I understood that PHOTOSHOP isnt going to let me save gray scape 24-bit.bmp file, no matter what have i tried, I decided to open one of those oroiginal SAI2`s .bmp files, that are located in the BRISTLE folder inside SAI itself (I opened Flat 2.bmp as this one has only a handful of black pixels so that I wouldn't spend much time deleting them). In photoshop I carefully selected only a part of grey line to hide those pixels that were located directly on that line. After only light-grey cross and circles were left, I used ARBmate, that was mentioned here to get PNG of Chalk-brush from original .ABR file and open it in photoshop as well. Next - I I placed two open windows side by side and moved the layer with chalk brush to the file with original grey cross, and regulated the size of the brush, so that all the pixels were inside the grey circle. That i just saved it as new file. AND THAT WORKED! I doubt that recording an action is possible, but at least this method is working. Morry, if you want I could send you bmp that Ive got, plus bmp which has only ligh-grey cross, so that you could place any PNG there and maybe even record an additional tutorial.

      For #2, instead of filling with the bucket tool, you could make a new fill layer (solid black, in this case) then move it down a layer, after inverting your brush! It works like a charm. You have to make sure you're recording the actions, of course.

    i actually found out the problem of why photoshop doesn't process all images, it's actually because the record function also records where you clicked so if you've recorded it on a canvas that's big when it comes to another image file with a smaller canvas size and there isn't any canvas to click on and it doesn't register
    soo when using the recording function just try to put your clicks as close to the center of the canvas so it converts your file
    i only found out after 5 out of 18 images was being processed and I WAS NOT gonna spend all my time converting it (○` 3′○)
    i hope it helps :))

    when I put them in brushtex, they don't become proper brushes like in other programs, it's like painting a pattern shaped like the brush, which ultimately results in it looking like a wrapping paper which isn't what I want, and I don't want the scatter effect, but the scatter brush is the only thing that has the actual brush shape, only it just randomly rotates the brush shape as I draw it along, so it doesn't do what I want either. so how do I get a it to be a simple brush?

    • @MorrysIllusion
      @MorrysIllusion  2 роки тому +1

      hi, sorry for the late reply i wanted to get on my PC so i could remember exactly what im looking at. this video is for scatter brushes and im not sure exactly what kind of look you're going for with your brush- you may be able to edit the settings of the scatter brush itself ot make it appear like a normal brush just with that shape (have 0 spacing). do be sure to change those settings in the .ini file for said brush.
      additionally the brush in SAI (your normal pen, nor scatter brush) has a 'bristle shape' which could work too depending on the image, or 'blop map' as well could work. im not sure what kind of file you have so im not sure what could work better. you best bet would be first to turn 'spacing' to zero on your scatter brush as it may do what you want. the ini file i suggest copying has settings for your typical scatter brush so thats why it looks the way it does, definitely tweak it to your liking.

    • @MorrysIllusion

      sorry, but i have no idea. i do not think paint tool SAI setting can be mimicked in PS properly. you could get the texture in PS, but not the settings. the process for making a a PS brush is different, youd have to look up how to make it the right file type.

      Are you completely sure they are? When you open it in PS check in image > mode > greyscale. If anything, make sure this is the last step you take as it could get changed along the way without realizing so you may want to check you final files.

      I wouldn't know, I have no idea what the process would be for photoshop brushes. Sai brush textures are easily available in the files so I'm sure there's a way, but it's probably not this method done backwards.

    • @MorrysIllusion
      @MorrysIllusion  2 роки тому +2

      You could always just p-rate ps lol. But also most art programs. You'll just have a very very tedious process to go through in terms of all the other steps... medibang us free and may allow this but im not sure if it has all the same grey scale settings, and that is even more important.

    • @MorrysIllusion
      @MorrysIllusion  2 роки тому

      Also you could theoretically do this in SAI itself too I just did not due to the lack of macros and batch export which would make this process even more hellish if doing multiple (I am pretty sure you can export bmp I just never have)

    • @MorrysIllusion
      @MorrysIllusion  3 роки тому

      do you receive this error when you open SAI 2? or somewhere else? i havent encountered any errors and wouldnt know what that one means. make sure the image size of the brushes you convert is under 1000px, and make sure your color mode when converting them is set to grayscale. if it isnt, you will probably get an error. otherwise make sure SAI 2 open without those brushes, and then put them into SAI 2 in the documents folder location. make sure your copy of SAI 2 is updated as well.

      do you mean that you are not seeing the textures in your drop downs? since in SAI a new brush doesnt get made when you import these files. theyre textures that you must pick when you create a new scatter brush. you will need to make a new scatter brush in the program, then scroll down to find the file you imported
