Thanks so much for making this video and including extra step to repeat the process more quickly at 10:17 . I followed the tutorial exactly with the same values on the sliders but with my own image so it didn't give me results I wanted. So I went back over my image with more tweaked settings and I'm loving the results. I went less harshly on the fully blacked out spots to get more soft grey spots instead with Levels layer. I also only applied the Oil Filter once but at max 10 settings. It was simple to follow and I retained the info to keep making more stuff with this method.
Thank you very much! This is so underratted. I tried another top search result tutorial but it gives me very bad results, sometimes there is gap between each layers of black, grey and white.
Great tutorial! I would never have thought of this vectorizing method myself. And yes: explaining “Blend-If“ using those two gradients is a great and easily understandable idea!
I loved the video, well done and very informative. Only one problem I noticed... Posterize is POSTerize, long O sound like the word poster. Not like pasta.
Great tutorial, I've learn something new. But just a question, when I reach the blend-if stage of the process, wouldn't it be easier to just import image to illustrator and trace image?
I learned something new today. I always thought it was pronounced POE-sterize because originally posters were printed by pressing inked wooden blocks of letters or engravings onto paper. Each additional ink color on a poster required another pass through the printing press so you'd make your art just a few bold colors to save time and money.
I can't believe I've never come across your YT channel before! This is amazing! Thank you! I hope you can help. I've run this program twice (once all the way through; the second time, I applied the "Blend If" action to a new image, the way you showed on the video). Both times, I didn't appear to have vectorized lines because--when I zoomed in to 500%--they were pixelated. Not horribly so, but certainly significantly more than what you show. What step might I have possibly missed or done incorrectly? There were a few times I realized I missed a step because of the speed of the tutorial or because occasionally you clicked on or away from something without stating it (I'm a novice to this "new" Photoshop, so nothing is second nature for me yet). In general, though, the mistakes I made were my own fault. I couldn't figure this one out, however. Nonetheless, color me impressed! The layers look amazing, otherwise, and it's exactly what I've spent the last 6 months trying to learn how to do! Thanks again!
The effect and the procedure are quite interesting. Downside: the vector output produces a gazillion garbage nodes which, if you wish to clean, will take you hours. But if I took only the version with the posterisation (without vectors), deleted the background and exported it as a png file, I could import it into CorelDRAW, executed an autotrace and in about half a minute I had a much cleaner image. Took me about four minutes to clean unwanted nodes. Maybe Illustrator's vectorisation tools are just as good.
Great tutorial but one thing...I don't know who got through the Action macro you used to run. I missed where you stated how to Convert Color Fill 1-6 to single layer thumbnail or which objects are needed to create our own Action Run for the Color Fills. I could never get my various layers to work.
awesome video, thank you! I want to join the patreon to download the premium action, but before I do - does anyone know if the premium action is compatible with the latest version of Photoshop?
If you have Adobe Illustrator you can skip all the steps of turning different layers into vector art. Import your image directly into Adobe Illustrator & choose a "Convert to Paths" preset that fits your needs (preset may need adjusting but make sure to save your adjustments as a new preset) then "convert to paths" & you're done.
All you have to do is export it once as a PNG, JPG or whatever format. No exporting as layers. Send me a file I could do it right now, it's very quick & I'm only running Adobe Creative Suite 5@@Pixivu I used to do it all the time for work.
@donlee_ohhh Of course, your process works. I even explained something similar to it in one of my previous videos: ua-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/v-deo.html. I mean jumping between 2 software might take a bit longer, the action actually takes a few seconds too. It is a matter of seconds I mean.
If you have an internet connection to download free stuff - this can be easily done in Inkscape (to trace and convert to actual vectors) and then do the same touch ups in GIMP (back to raster). Then slowly extend the middle fingers towards Adobe in real life. To use three different tools combined might feel cumbersome at first.
I'm having the exact same issue with the photoshop EPS file. When I bring it into Ai - I can't seem to isolate each layer, recolour or anything? Could really use a hand with this...
I would love to see this same effect done with color. I'm playing around with it now, and I'm close, but I just can't quite seem to figure it out to pull off one of those Illustrator-looking vector portrait styles.
Hi, thank you for the tutorial. I have a few questions, what's the difference between FREE/PREMIUM action? Is there a way to vectorize colorful images too? Because using saturation doesn't help, but I need to select (with action) too many colors without it. :/
Hello and welcome! I am happy that you liked it. With the free action, you will need to create the PSD file first as explained in the tutorial. but the premium action can perform this step without requiring a PSD file. yes you can with the help of Illustrator, check this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/v-deo.html
Easily the best "Blend-If" explanation and demonstration there is. Adobe, can you hear me? Great job.
My same exact thoughts. There's a lot of pretty good explanations of it on YT but this is on a whole another level.
One of the best Photoshop Tutorials. It Explains each of the effects use and purpose. When you know the purpose its easy to remember and understand.
This is the best tutorial for vectorizing images I have found so far. Thanks for creating it.
Only using ps for one week. Excellent instruction although I had to slow down the audio to keep up. Action worked perfectly
this is the best photoshop tutorial i've seen. no rushing. thank u and merry christmas
I'm happy to hear that you like it. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄

Posterize is a word derived from poster, like the print on your wall. Both ‘o’ letters are pronounced the same.
Thanks, that was driving me crazy. Otherwise great tutorial.
It's an AI voice
@@TheGreatFury Even worse. Somebody is too lazy to record and too lazy to check.
Pasta Rise. It's a baking term. 😂
Me wince everytime he said it.
Thank you very much! This is so underratted. I tried another top search result tutorial but it gives me very bad results, sometimes there is gap between each layers of black, grey and white.
You have not only help me with an excellent way to vectorized photos quickly, buy I also learned about the blend if and path to color fill. Thank you!
Great tutorial! I would never have thought of this vectorizing method myself. And yes: explaining “Blend-If“ using those two gradients is a great and easily understandable idea!
Unreal, was like watching poetry how it was explained, I wish all tutorials were like this.
I've been posterizing, but not oil painting. Genius.
Best Ever tutorial Bosss....You have Saved lots and lots of time...
I loved the video, well done and very informative. Only one problem I noticed... Posterize is POSTerize, long O sound like the word poster. Not like pasta.
This is a great tutorial. If everything is of this quality, you've just gained yourself a very satisfied subscriber.
Amazing!!! By far the best tutorial of its type! Thank you!

Great tutorial, I've learn something new. But just a question, when I reach the blend-if stage of the process, wouldn't it be easier to just import image to illustrator and trace image?

Espectacular. Muchas gracias!!!!
Muchas gracias
Nice demo. Thank you, so much, for the free action. Very generous.
love this look
Very Impressive.

Doesn't Illustrator vectorize images quicker? Thanks for all the detail work in Photoshop.
Finally I found a way to transform image to cartoon, rather than draw pen tool all over the image
Yes, you can start your drawings with this tutorial, and you have the option to modify the output. I’m happy you enjoyed it!
Thanks Bro Soo muuuuchhh
Thank You very much!
very helping i love it
can we apply these same effets on a video footage in priemere pro

Good idea! However, I believe that exporting the output image from PS to AI would take as long (or maybe longer) than using the action.

How do i change the color of it in illustrator❓

here is a tutorial for what you want: ua-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/v-deo.html
@@Pixivu Not really. That's a different effect/style and it's from an older version.
Could you please make a similar vector tutorial that keeps all the color of the image?
thank you so much bruh
excellent
Oh My LOVE, that hack my brain
this is great but you could just drop the original photo into illustrator and it will do it automatically for you
How so? Truly interested

An exceptional tutorial. I can't wait to share with my Photoshop buddies.
Many thanks, greatest tutorial for Blend-if and vektorising ever!!!!
genious
can we do a simple version of this in Procreate ? picking how many colors the image is made up of ?
Thanks!!
