  • I wasn't aware on how many Sai 2 users didn't know about Scatter brushtips and the ability to make custom brushes from images, but now I'm giving you the way I've been so far. It works really well, and it gives way more options compared to the bristles brushes Sai is known for.
Here are also freebies for you to try:
    ko-fi.com/s/74...
    They contain 3 scatter brushtips
    and 3 bristle brushtips
    + 2 textures maps
    Same brushset for Photoshop ☺♥

Tips are appreciated, but not required!

Is this still valid? I've tried the steps outlined, but it still doesn't show up. Image is grayscale 8-bit bmp (done through gimp), and its respective ini was copied from the initial stars scatter brush, and renamed to match the image.

Hello! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I had a hard time trying to figure out how to change the colour mode to grayscale mostly. I tried Krita and Inkscape and Medibang but I couldn't figure them out, at all. So I resorted to installing GIMP.
After going through your steps in SAI, I did this in GIMP -
Simply clicking Image > Mode > Grayscale and then choosing to export it instead of Save.
After that, I followed your steps again of duplicating the .ini file and renaming it.
I am relieved enough that I can finally get it - although I am now having trouble trying to make the brush NOT to scatter too much xD (it's a bizarre!! haha!)
    Anyway, thank you again!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I used Krita and it worked fine. Another user had the same issue and resorted to Gimp. I personally don't use Gimp, but I'm glad it turned out just fine. I'm also glad this tutorial was helpful to you! 💖 Thank you for your comment!

I use PTS2 and it shows me an error when I select my brush and says "The color mode of this texture bitmap is not grayscale" even though I followed your instructions. It is grayscale done with Krita but PTS tells me it's not. Why? Did I miss something?

I'm glad it helped you! I had a little bit of trouble putting this video together since this method is just a way I found out to diversify brushes in Sai 2. So, it's a little confusing l. In anyway, I'm glad it helped 😄❤️

I’m trying to use krita to convert it to rgb but it’s saving as bmp~ rather than plain bmp and I don’t know how to change that, is there any other option or am I doing it wrong?
Sai2 isn’t reading the ~ one and it won’t just replace the normal one for some reason
Edit: ended up just downloading GIMP for it instead, worked well enough!

Thank you! I gave up with krita and the other software I had, so I downloaded GIMP as well. Thank you for sharing your experience!

@@koyukiNAAH np!! I have no idea why Krita refuses to safe it as a normal bmp, but at least there’s a workaround. Happy to help!

How come mine turns into such a low opacity????? Ive done everything i can, do you have a tutorial on how to possibly fix it if it has a low opacity even though I used solid colors on the brush before converting to BMP and grayscale? Ive configured every setting but it's still so low on its opacity

Hi! Sure thing! Before anything, could you let me know which program you're using to convert the bmp file to gray-scale?

Now that you said it, I need to bring the dehydrated shrimp back, it's to remind people to fix their posture and drink water 😜😌 in any way, I'm glad you were reminded to drink water, it's certainly very important.

broo i imported the files into sai 2 and uhm it keeps saying that i have to edit the brush bristles. it says ""the number of hair points on this bristle definition bitmap is more than 63". uhm how do i do this...

Have you placed the files in the right folder? Also the scatter brushes are around 500x500pxs (grayscale). They don't go in the same brush folder bristles brushes go. Bristle brush tips are around 60x60px (RGB). Remember to look for the scatter brush folder. There's already a blob and a star sample brush tip there, in case you need a reference of canvas size for the brush tip.

Hen you mention the image being rgb is it possible to by pass this with making the saturation all the way down or is it required to do it on another program
(And assuming its already in black and white and i good?)

    • @sketchista
      @sketchista  Рік тому

Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, the channel has to be gray-scale. I believe cmyk could work as well, since I've tried it in the past and had no issues with, however RGB, for me, even converted to black and white did not work. You could try, but I don't think that's gonna do anything. The best option I'm aware that works is to either use a third party app to convert the bmp to gray-scale, like Gimp or Photoshop.

Thank you, I'll give this a shot, it should work. Btw, your audio goes a little funny around the 3 minute point. Especially around 3:33 when it gives you a temp gender swap XD.

No prob!! And you're totally right! My mic is bad, like, really bad, and sometimes when I record, this buzzing noise starts interfering in the background. Then, I use a noise remover, just to mess up with my voice. I'm figuring out how to fix that issue 😅

    • @sizlax
      @sizlax Рік тому

@@sketchista I know financial issues can be terrible, but I'd still recommend a new mic. I'm sure you could get one cheap enough if you combed through the reviews for them on Amazon. Just make sure there's a lot of reviews, and that the reviews are overwhelming positive. Also read the individual 3-4 star reviews to make sure there aren't any known issues that may land you with a mic just as bad, or worse.
Extreme reviews, like the 5 or 1 stars can often be unique scenarios, people jumping the gun, or reviews from people biased to the seller. A lot of the time, one star reviews are from people that can't figure out how to turn something on, or plug something in. Or they're just mad that the product didn't arrive on time, or unique cases where the delivery driver damaged their products.
Whereas five star reviews can often be from people that unboxed the product, and instantly five starred it just because it wasn't broken, or because it worked for the first five minutes. But those are irrelevant if the product stops working within a week.

@@sizlax I see where you're coming from, but, with all due respect, I'm not actively making an income off of my content here yet, a new mic is not a necessity, I'm not in the position to spend money with something that is not actually needed. I can't cover up the costs of it. Therefore, I will not be buying a new mic any time soon. Also, I wouldn't by from Amazon either. I'm not from the US, so anything I buy over 20$ has a really high chance of getting taxed when it enters my country, which is around 60% on top of the original price. It's just not worth it. Maybe in the future, but it's gonna depend on my ability to monetize my content. I'm also figuring other ways of recording better quality audio, for now, this is what I can offer.

@@sketchista I meant no disrespect. Honestly I despise capitalism in it's current state; so I'm not one of those types that judges people for their financial situations.
Honestly, as a UA-cam artist, your skills as an artist would probably be one of your biggest assets. While I haven't gotten around to checking out the rest of your channel yet, I can say that if other people idolize your skills, and those are displayed in your thumbnails, then they will be more likely to view your channel.
And since UA-cam runs on so many algorithms these days, I'd imagine your videos would attract more views with titles that contain certain keywords. And those words will likely change depending on what's popular.
Hint; if billionaires are currently making a metric shit ton of money off it, then it's probably gonna contain keywords that are worth looking out for.
For example, marvel movies/characters, star wars .etc. like, if you were able to draw a good boba Fett, or Captain marvel.
And while I don't personally like them, speed paints seem to be fairly popular.
Other than that, I'd recommend pirating some good high end editing software, and mastering that as best you can. Also, upload higher quality videos than what you list as the size. Cuz unless you're making UA-cam buko bux, they tend to reduce the quality of people's videos during upload. But the effect isn't as bad if you upload a 4k video, even though max size people can watch it is 1080.
That may not be possible due to hardware limitations. I'm not tryin to be ignorant to your situation. I just try to help where I can with what I do know.
      Either way, good luck!

@@sizlax That's ok, I didn't mean to sound rude in any way as well, I apologise if I came across as such. I'm still trying to figure out how to make content that is more appealing and I usually post speed-paints mostly because it's a very general thing Digital Artists post. But, I intend to make different types of content, not only that, perhaps more educational or entraining videos. As well as making more interesting thumbnails. I personally believe that the tools I use play very little role in the quality of marketability of my content. Regardless, I'll take what you said to heart! Thank you for your comments, and for engaging with this video, it's appreciated.
