      Hi there! Sorry for my late reply ~ this is really cool, I’m glad you felt inspired by this and made a couple of items yourself in such a short time. It really gives a boost of confidence I feel, and it’s easier to avoid overthinking cause you work against a deadline ☺️

    Perfect summer outfits! I’ve been eyeing up the white broiderie fabric and similar for a summer dress … I keep delaying and no doubt summer will be over before I buy any ! Thank you for the inspiration though!🎉

      Awww thank you both 🥰🥰🥰 this makes be really happy. Tips for shirring: lightweight fabric is a must, for a beginner project choose something with a geometric pattern so you easily keep your seams parallel. Add 1/3 of your total circumference to get the right size eventually - so if your bust is 90, add 30cm so the bodice fits when it’s completely shirred. Get enough elastic so you don’t run out! A bodice like this takes about 1 1/2 spools I‘d say. The tension is important, the bobbin needs to be hand-wound making sure the thread doesn’t jump off it, but also isn’t too loose. You can backstitch once at the beginning and end of your seam - I’ve heard one shouldn’t do that but I’ve found no issue. Do a test patch before you do the real thing! And lastly, it takes time! Put on a good show or podcast to pass the time :) Hope this helps!

    I look at a large scrap and think oh, that can be pockets or facings for something someday', you look at the same scrap and think it would make a cute top. You definitely win.

    Don't get rid of the chopstick! I hate my loop turner. It never works for me. The thing it has been most helpful for is fishing out elastic when I accidentally let it go into a casing.

    I looked up 20 degrees Celsius in Fahrenheit… it made me grateful my ancestors moved to America - particularly to the South. It’s only 70 degrees in the UK IN JULY??? It’s been consistently at least 70 here since April 1. I’m sending warm thoughts your way.

      Aw thank you haha. I’d love some warmer weather! I am in Austria right now and we currently have 35 Celsius which is more like 100 Fahrenheit. But the thing is - UK heat is HUMID. Capital letters. It sucks the life out of you, even if it’s just 20 Celsius haha. We only get a few dry heat days a year and those are gorgeous.

    (i was in london for half a year and then HaD tO move back to switzerland because of getting married and stuff, so i always kind of miss good old london, and regularly make trips there just to sit in the corners and enjoy the town omg)
    so. skirt? ABSOLUTELY YES, thank you
    top - busty girl, here, i could never... (it's cute, though, but i'd probably prefer it with trousers?)

    Hi! Love the embroidered skirt! I'd like to make one for myself. Could you please share how you determined the size for each piece? I have so much trouble understanding measurements for circle skirts 🤦‍♀ I have illustrator and can use that if I need 👍 Thank you!

    • @ThrillsandStitches
      @ThrillsandStitches  3 дні тому +1

      Thank you! I did it on illustrator and had a play with different lengths to use as much of the fabric I had as possible. The easiest way to go is to use the circle tool and create one that is the circumference of you waist. Then make a bullseye (vertical and horizontal line through the circle) and use one leg to measure the length you want for the skirt (starting from your first circle perimeter). You can then take half of the circle for a half circle skirt or the full one. Hope that made sense somehow!
