Being an Asian (Filipino), your video is very relevant to me/us. Thank you. One thing I am doing all these years are 1. shorts 2. monochrome 3. small bags and porters 😅 4. V neck and I think the most important of all is keeping weight normal or slim side. Nothing looks good if you’re in the heavy side. I know we have to embrace our true self but keeping healthy by exercising and eating nutritious food in correct amount is very good for the body and would be pleasing to anybody’s eyes. my 2 cents ❤

English Canadian, about 155 cm, possibly less. Heels are out - I live in rural Bretagne (Lorient is my nearest city!) and the roads and gravel would have me spraining my ankles if I wore heels. I hadn't really thought about the hair - I have thick white hair that I'd like to grow, but it probably would make me look shorter. I already have a lot of people asking if I'm my Breton husband's mother, which is upsetting to both of us! Will definitely use all these tips to help make me look taller. I love your videos, Frederique, and you always make me smile!
I think short women tottering on heels look shorter. Wear slim, not bulky, flats and walk tall, the current trend is for flats! Your hair sounds lovely. Just have a crisp shaped simple hair cut and moisturise it well, maybe a spray in conditioner when dry. Maybe review your clothes and put together a few casual but elegant outfits that make you feel confident.
I’ve been so excited for the high waist pants. My favorite go to is a body suit with a high wasted, slightly flared , relaxed jean that skims the floor with platform sandals. It is truly chefs kiss!
I love your attitude Frédérique - and your accent. I’m a short (161cm) chunky (76kg) busty (34G) 79 year old woman who needs all the help I can get to look modern. So far I’ve probably broken all the rules you outline apart from having a short spiky hairstyle! I’m making a shopping list now! I only eve wear casual clothes and always jeans, chinos or straight leg trousers. You’ve given me some great ideas. No Pockets😢😢!! Barbara
Great tips! The visuals with stylish, classic clothing really help me see how I can implement your advice. Thank you so much for featuring Boden! I love their company, fabrics, prints and large selection of petite sizes.
I’m loving your videos! I’m glad I found you! I’m 5’ 2” and I’m 65. I know many of your suggestions. It’s hard when you get to be my age to follow rules, styles and age appropriate!
I love all of your good advice but better than that you are just fun to watch. Your humour and laughter and of course your beautiful accent is like spending time with a friend Thank you best regards
This is my first time watching a video of yours and I've absolutely adored your personality and your advice 🎉. I finally understand why I've never felt comfortable or been willing to buy any t-shirts, or other garments that don't surround my neckline in a V-neck shape. I now understand from your presentation that I intuitively knew and of course, saw that this was the most flattering neckline for my 4 foot 10 inch 88 pound body shape. I also appreciated your thoughts on the most appropriate sized bags for we "height compromised" women to carry. 😂 Over the years I've collected (too) many smaller black designer bags only to find that I'm unable to carry my necessities with me inside them. My one disappointment with your video was that it seemed to almost exclusively feature neutral colored clothing and bags, which do not suit my mixed Chinese/European coloring. I look ill in the white or cream colored clothing that you pictured so much of, do not own a single printed garment (apart from a few panties), but predominately wear black, browns, love greens and and some orange and redish purple, although I wear them only monochromaticly or, with the orange and purples, as a pop of color under black. Having seen your video, I'm thinking that this has been a mistake. 😮. But it becomes so drab sticking to dressing monochromatically. And I am not one for buying colorful earrings or pendant necklaces, so how else does a very small woman inject a bit of color into their wardrobe without distrupting the vertical line? Please do discuss such things on another video for your petite subscribers, of which I am now one!😊
I have never been a fan of prints, especially those with lots of colors, I think they look like you're wearing a bedspread or curtains. For the same reason, I hate Vera Bradley handbags. I also think if you're wearing jewelry you would want to remove before being weighed, then it's too much! Another great video!
Agree. I’m 58 and 5’4”. Larger boobs and apple tummy. 165 lbs. I think prints look matronly on my body. I have a Vera Bradley recycled fabric toiletry kit ( no quilted! Ew) that gives me that nice floral print to look at but not to wear.😂
I'm so love your videos. They ate such an I inspiration for me. At 65, I'm all about comfort, class, and, yes, elegant style. Thanks for keeping me on point. Merci
You are adorable! I can listen to you all day! I am 74 and now 5’2” ( I was heartbroken when I learned that I had lost 1/2 inch in the last couple of years!)! I innately followed many of your tips throughout my life, and was often told that I looked taller than I was. During the past few years I gained weight and no longer enjoy clothes. There are so few things I can wear now that are flattering. I’ve also had to replace the stilettos I was known for, with kitten heels or flats. I’m always watching my weight ( to no real avail) and mourn my younger days. Are there other tips you can give us petites who have grown wider with age? I love clothes and miss feeling fashionable. Thank you for your videos. You’re a joy to watch!
Thanks so much for this Frederique! I am 5’1” and short-waisted. I cannot wear high-rise trousers, because they come up my ribcage!🤪SO uncomfortable. I am another one who has had a tailor cut out the pockets on certain pairs of trousers, because they were too pouffy and added volume at my hips. I got a smoother silhouette. Some trousers do have flatish pockets and those are fine. 🙋♀️🇺🇸🥰‼️
Ditto my high waist/short torso. I’m 5’. Mid rise even usually comes to my waist! Always have to gauge tucking in with high waist. Glad cropped tops and jackets are back in style; they fit my short torso perfectly!
Excellent suggestions for petite women like me! I could have never guessed that you are 5'2"! I'm also that same height and your suggestions are really good. A few months ago, I went for a pixie cut and it completely changed my look. I'm glad I did, because I was hiding myself in way too big clothes and long hair. And yes about smaller and delicate accessories.
Very good suggestions 👌🏼 About the hair, I can’t help having volume. I have high density curly hair, the more I cut the bigger it gets, so I have long curly hair to keep it down a bit 😄 Also love pockets in everything!
I lost some weight and at 5 2.5 I realised the more bulky chunky or bigger the clothes actually make me look smaller like I am wearing the hulks clothes. So I'm learning I love flats, trainers and looking at kitten heels always had a thing for pointed toes too. Now I know why.
I used to wear a suit every day for work. The first thing I did when I bought new pants was have the pockets cut and sewn closed. Cleaner lines, just looked better. Love your videos, thank you for all you do!
For all the girls out there with short torsos, wear mid rise trousers and jeans. Don't forget not to have them super tight though as they should skim your hips and not give the grip of death. 4'11 and hourglass figured. My torso is in proportion to my height. However, my sister is the same height but with a shorter torso. She swears by mid rise jeans and trousers and she honestly looks way better proportionally.
Please make videos that compliment different skin tones... I love your style. I am a black woman with a deep complexion, but I struggle with the right colors
I am so glad you are sharing these tips! It took me years to figure them out. So many petite women need to know how to style their frame. I'm busty but slim. I'm also height challenged. If I wear big prints because of the bust I always look like a hot air balloon ha ha. Also it's common for petite women to have no waist. Tailored, close to the body cropped tops and tighter trousers are a necessity for me to have a nice silhouette. I so agree with you about chunky shoes, puffy sleeves, excess pockets, and big handbags. I only wear V necks or lower scoop neck for my tees and summer tops. Great advice!
I'm 4'11 in tall , on the thin side, l 'm very short waited and in my 60's so l dont have a 24 inch waist anymore, now its 27 in, l absolutely can not wear high waisted, unless its leggings or athletic wear, l learned most of what you've said is right, took me years to know what look best on me, l don't work but l do wear the same color top & bottom , but l love most colors and small prints its boring to wear cream color, tan, black , l will wear a small printed top & plain bottom, but l like being authentic and l don't like dressing like everyone else , l stick to the petite do's , & don'ts, but l like color & prints and since my hips are small l wear chunky braclets, Most of the petite dressing l learned through trial & error and took years to know what was appealing me, thanks for the advice you confirmed what l finally learned
Great video Frederique 💛 i’m not petite but still enjoyed some of the hints and will use them. Your lighthearted approach makes the videos great to watch - you sparkle 🤩 ✨with fun!! Yes please re one on colour 🌻🥂
I used to get all sorts of different hairstyles but now it's long and I like it. I like being able to put it up. It's thick, textured hair, so different cuts could end up with big volume, and having the length helps with that too.
Hi Frederique, I am a curvy 5 foot short 😂 lady and I have always sewn up pants pockets and cut away the inside pieces 😂😂 as they do add inches to my hips. Thank you for the tios.
Thanks for so much wonderful advice. I am 160 cm, I can't find kitten heels with my wide feet only lower chunky heels. Love your linen outfit Frederique
I've unstodd the pocket idea for years. They ruin the line. And now with ready to wear often the pocket fabric is too bulky and adds volume. I am bummed so many manufacturers add them. It might look great it a street style photo to have your hand in your pocket, but to put anything heavy in them, like your phone etc, pulls the fabric and looks even worse. Buy a nice large enough handbag and leave pockets off my clothes! Thanks for the charm you bring to your videos❤
Thinner belt was my take away. 60 and 5' 2 1/2. Petite in every way. I always thought thin belts looked wrong w wide belt loops? I will give it a try 👍 thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful video, I can tell you love what you do. I’m 5’2 ballerina body, small frame, small hips and bust proportioned to my waist. I love princess cut of top’s and dresses fitted under the bust and crisscross sweaters. The tip about the color of the shoes and the outfit makes sense. I always wear black shoes most of the time regardless of the color of the outfit! Never occurred to me that breaks the line. Thank you !

I’m a 5’2 curvy girl and I also cut the pockets out of everything, b/c the pocket never lays flat and just adds bulk to my hips.
I know we have to embrace our true self but keeping healthy by exercising and eating nutritious food in correct amount is very good for the body and would be pleasing to anybody’s eyes. my 2 cents ❤
fabulous thank you for sharing ps: I love the Philippines need to go back for another diving trip :)
I have long legs for my 5'3" body. High waist can make me lose all of my torso sometimes. I like mid rise best.
I have a tiny Asian colleague, she always wears her shirts tucked in, wide legged pants (but not too much) & high heels. She always looks great.
This is a very helpful video. I'm 5 '1 tall and always have problems to pick out nice outfits that make me look tall. I will be in Paris and Nice next month. Can you please let me know local shops that are not touristy and not too expensive doesn't have to be big brand names. Any recommendation local restaurants. Merci beaucoup!
Is she a filipina?
I just have to say I adore you. I love the fact that you laugh so much at yourself and what you’re saying. What a great thing to do and to have this ability to be so lighthearted. You’re very cute and very confident and you can tell that you’re very a genuine happy person… very impressed. Thank you
You're the best!
Bulky❌ Chunky❌ Large prints❌ Multiple contrasting colors❌ Anything oversized❌ Wrong hairstyle❌ Loud accessories❌ Overdoing everything❌ Got it. 😅
So true!!!!!!
I believe i just found my favorite fashion adviser. i'm asian and 5'4 ft tall and these tips are very useful to me. your accent as well as how passionate you are with fashion makes me want to listen to you all day. im so glad to have found your channel! enchantee
I need color help. Please a video.
I’ve been so excited for the high waist pants. My favorite go to is a body suit with a high wasted, slightly flared , relaxed jean that skims the floor with platform sandals. It is truly chefs kiss!
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for the tip on the chunky… shoes, jewelry, chunky everything. I like this most.😊
Yes to "what is the best color for you"
Yes please do a what is the best colour for you video!
I love your energy, humor and of course the wonderful tips! 👍🏻👍🏻💙💙🥰
Thank you so much!
Love how directly and clearly you explain. I only subscribe when speaker gets quickly to the point!
Please do discuss such things on another video for your petite subscribers, of which I am now one!😊
welcome xxx
So helpful! As an older woman I am losing height but was never tall. Would love to see a video on colour! Merci!! 💟👍🏻
I'm so love your videos. They ate such an I inspiration for me. At 65, I'm all about comfort, class, and, yes, elegant style. Thanks for keeping me on point. Merci
Fantastic styling tips with your charming so French accent. Thanks
You’re welcome 😊
I agree with everything. Hate bold jewelry, I’m definitely monochromatic, hair is barely below my ears. Love your channel. I’m 5’6
I am petite & I cannot wear high waisted as I have a short torso & find high waisted very uncomfortable but I love mid rise .
Would love a video about skin tone and complementary colours! Enjoying your videos Frederique.. Thank you!
Great idea!
Yes! Thank you!
Very good suggestions 👌🏼
About the hair, I can’t help having volume. I have high density curly hair, the more I cut the bigger it gets, so I have long curly hair to keep it down a bit 😄
Also love pockets in everything!
I lost some weight and at 5 2.5 I realised the more bulky chunky or bigger the clothes actually make me look smaller like I am wearing the hulks clothes. So I'm learning I love flats, trainers and looking at kitten heels always had a thing for pointed toes too. Now I know why.
Help with colors!
I used to wear a suit every day for work. The first thing I did when I bought new pants was have the pockets cut and sewn closed. Cleaner lines, just looked better. Love your videos, thank you for all you do!
Hello from England. I used to cut the inside of my pockets , too. I never thought anyone else wld do the same. 😊😊
Your accent is the key to being fashionable i. My modest opinion. It catches my attention and vous avez raison.
Yes, with a short torso, midrise transforms to high-rise at the body while high-rise might sit unnaturally reach up to the bra.
😵😂😂😂and look ridiculous!!!
So much good advice in this video! I'm 5'2" as well. I decided several years ago that big prints overwhelm me and I'm lost in them so I ditched them.
You are so welcome!
It never occurred to me that large bracelets would draw attention to my hips! Why have I never realized that? Thanks for that.
Your lovely personality really shines in this video! ❤❤❤
I’m 180 (5”11) tall but I still watched it to the end 🍏🐝
Thank you so much!!
You hair looks fantastic. It suits you 100%. Just beautiful. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you so much!
Fun, straight to the point and really good advice. You are literally helping me to pack for my overseas holiday Frederique! Greetings from Melbourne 🦘
Great video! Losing height, now 5 feet even. Would like to see best neutrals video. You are at the top of your game! Thanks.
The best clothes are those that make you feel happy.
Sorry but no, they should lengthen your frame and also make you happy.
🎉enjoyed this video. Some of my favorite tips - small prints, high waist, proportions:) I am off to get stylish for today
Love that!
Hi Frederique,
I am a curvy 5 foot short 😂 lady and I have always sewn up pants pockets and cut away the inside pieces 😂😂 as they do add inches to my hips. Thank you for the tios.
Than you for focusing on petite women!!!
Love your tips. Your opinion is exactly what I think.
Thinner belt was my take away. 60 and 5' 2 1/2. Petite in every way. I always thought thin belts looked wrong w wide belt loops? I will give it a try 👍 thank you!
Great video with excellent ideas. Thank you.
Thank you !
This video was perfect for petites! I would love to hear your suggestions for those of us who have a high waist/short torso which has proven to be immensely challenging to style. You seem to have such a good knowledge foundation for all things fashion related. Thank you for sharing!
xxxx
Loved this! You are great! The large prints really resonated with me, I never realized that. Have a great day!
When I’m in Europe I always feel better. Never bloated. It takes me 6 weeks to gain 5 pounds of weight, in New Jersey only takes me a week. Michael looks stunning. You guys are awesome ❤
So much helpful info. Thanks Frederique.
Thanks , it’s very informative , joyful to watch ❣️
So nice of you
I cut my pockets. Not wearing bangles is so smart never thought of the eye going to the hips. Newly subscribed.
So helpful and educational.Thank you!
Thank you Frederique...lovely helpful beautiful ideasxxx❤
Great video. Two things you did not mention which I think are big mistakes are pleats and cuffs. Both are terrible for petite women.
Thanks for sharing!
I never feel like I look right with pant cuffs or pleats. Glad you mentioned that.
My college roommate is petite and back in college she rocked pleated mini skirts. I would recommend pleats in the right places.
There are different kinds of pkeats box pleats, crystal pleats. Its really about proportion. For trousers, pick two pleats instead of three.
Thanks for the great tips I'm learning a lot.
Glad to hear it!
Hi there! Petite curvy girl here....
Thank you so much for this video. I really appreciate the effort you put in all your videos! Very insightful and informative! I have been going the monochrome way these days...very easy to style and maintain!
