I saw that concert and I must say I went as a Anita Baker fan but left as a Luther Vandross fanatic. He was a world class entertainer. Anita was great but couldn’t touch Luther.

I saw Luther Vandross on his tour with Anita Baker and comedian Sinbad opened for them. At Rosemont Horizon in Chicago. It was the was the best concert I ve been to.

I am a big Luther Vandross fan and also a fan of Anita Baker.
I was able to experience Luther's concerts in Germany in 1986 and 1993.
Luther Vandross was a musician who cared about his music and his fans, and when I saw him on stage I realized that he was absolutely not diva-like. He approached his fans and made them understand that he was one of them and that they were all one in his music. Having worked on stage as a backliner myself for many years, I know the nature of musicians. There is the exemplary behavior of musicians who are always bitching on stage, it's those who don't have much professional experience and forget why they are on stage and what their job is. Luther Vandross was for me a person who was not only about himself, but about communicating his art of music to mankind. In the art of music all people are equal and connects people, there is no place for intrigue, hatred or envy.

What women was he ALWAYS beefing with? There's En Vigue and Anita Baker, period! Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Stephanie Mills, Oleta Adams, Shirley Murdock, and Vanessa Williams all toured with Luther without incident.

Anita Baker had her nerve back then and she have a lot of nerve now just because she shot her husband and went to jail when she was singing with chapter 8 she thinks she about that life she's a rotten egg, Luther vandross was a humble man until he got on that stage open his mouth and you can hear every word he sung but Anita Baker you cannot hear nothing that she saying and she does not write anything she's jealous she was jealous of Luther vandross just like she jealous of Babyface today period she's not a diva she's narcissist,
I think it is pointless having a problem with someone like Luther Vandross because he was in my view not a Diva, but saying that he probably would not have hidden away from an argument either I think Anita started and possibly carried on the silliness, it is a shame that she did because Luther Vandross would have been an absolute darling to her forever and more had she shown him just a touch of what she can deliver as an artiste in the real world, a bit of love basically.

I myself agree with your opinion, because I have seen Luther Vandross live in 1986 and 1993.
I myself have worked many years on stage as a backliner and know too well how many musicians can become bitchy. They often forget why they are on stage and what job they have. Luther Vandross was only about his art and that was his music and he wanted to internalize the humanity. Otherwise he would hardly have worked with such musicians as Markus Miller, Nat Adderley junior and other musicians so many years together.
