The Oh! Come on statement really hit home but thanks to your easy explanation the mode button on my 3300 is again working. Was going for a drive in my NSX but the battery was too low to turn the starter but in a couple hours the music will start again.
Thank you for this video! Recently my CTEK 3300 would no longer react to its mode button. A quick search led to your video, and now it’s working again! I used 91% isopropyl alcohol and a syringe-like applicator borrowed from a printhead cleaning kit. Before it misbehaved my CTEK had spent a few nights outdoors. Most of the housing has nice gasket like edges, but the two strain-reliefs are just packed with some grease. One of those spots is right next to the electric button that needed cleaning.
Thank you brother I was given this from my neighbor her son moved away and I used it once about 2 years ago and I just tried to use it and it wouldn't work but you showed me how to fix it. Great tip.
Hello I have the same problem with Genius Noco g3500 The device is stuck on STANDBY mode Can you explain how to fix the device? This is a product that has not been used for several years... Thank you very much for your help ELI
I don’t have that particular model, but I’m assuming you could try the same thing. Take it apart carefully and spray some contact cleaner. Hope that helps
Excellent video, thank you. Worked perfectly. I didn't have a spray on container of electrical contact cleaner, so I used isopropyl alcohol 70% in a pump spray that I got at the dollar store.
Thank you so much for this video. Now my XS 3600 is working again after a few cleans with electronic contact cleaner. Btw the button head is removable for easier cleaning, and some contact protection spray may prevent this in the future. Greetings from Sweden :)
Many thanks. Works great and took all of about 10 minutes to accomplish. There was a cap over 1 of the screws that wasn't easy to remove. Guess they don't want you in there.
@@moesgarage1403 Thanks so much for this video! Hope your 944 is still going strong! Great cars. My late Dad and I have had four 1980 928s over the years (2 running, 1 in the garage waiting for parts, 1 destroyed by a careless driver) but Dad was always itching to buy a 944 for track days. Our mechanic's son races a 944 Turbo with 600+ horsepower and has fun beating the pants off brand new 911s. It's also his daily driver! I watched this video because I was trying to charge an AGM battery for the first time for use in one of the Porsches. Unfortunately my version of the MXS 5.0 doesn't have screws on the back so I'll need to crack it open somehow. I bought it from an eBay seller who disappeared and CTEK refuse to honour it after providing the serial number, telling me it's the seller's responsibility to replace it despite being a verified genuine product. Will never give them another cent!
I have 3 of the C-Tek US 3300's I bought in 2010 just a couple of days ago the Mode Button stopped working on one of them. So i tossed it in the trash and ordered a new C-Tek Charger. Saw this video and several others so i dug it out of the trash and will get some contact cleaner and see if i can fix it.
@@moesgarage1403 Just got finished putting it back together. It's working fine now. Thanks for the video. My new C-Tek came in last night so we will keep the repaired one for a back-up or one we loan to friends...
No, you can't. WD could destroy the electronics over time because of it's components. It also could have unwanted effects because of it's isolating and capillar feature. Better use an electronic cleaner for platines. It is made special for this use. Also contact sprays are not recommended. They are for a different use.
@@moesgarage1403 Today I repaired my CTEK MXS 4003. Some remarks: You can remove the button of the mode switch easily. It is just plugged in. Then you will see the original switch under the button that is soldered on the platine. It has some small gaps in which the cleaner goes. Do some clickings, thats it. You use way too much cleaner that is not neccessary. Spinnig the button has no effect because you turn the button plugged in the switch but not the contact inside the switch which is not turnable. The only thing that provides the cleaning is pushing the button several times as you did in the video. That helps. Thank you for your efford and making the video, that gave me the help I need to solve my problem.
I did exactly he showed and the unit now works…Pleased to kingdom come!! I thought my unit was gone and decided to throw it away. By chance I went onto UA-cam and discovered this genius!
Just noticed my Ctek Charge O Mat stopped working. I have it plugged into the cigarette socket. The mode button lights up and select car the charge indicator nor the maintenance charge indicator lights up. Any suggestions why it stopped working?
I think its the fuse. Can't open the socket where I can check the fuse. It has a Phillips screw that I took out but don't know how to open it up. There is a label indicating 8A.
Just bought a used ctek 3300, mode button wasn't working, did this now It's working good ! Thank you !!👍👍
Thanks. It took three times too clean but, now I can charge my old mothers battery. And my own in the future. :)
Works like new. I almost trashed it. Thanks!
I was ready to order a new one. Then I tried your simple fix. WOW !! Perfect, you just saved me a bunch of money. Thank you.
Glad it helped

You forgot to tell people to unplug it before they start working on it 🤣🤙

Hi Moe. Thank you for the tip. Why does the orrange buttons change to green. Is the battery expired?
Sorry to ask but I'm woman alone, trying my best
gotta try this this weekend, same model trickle charger for my 996TT just developed this issue.
Yessss, worked on my XS3600 too! Fixed within 5 minutes! Thx!!!

Werkt effectief. Enkele malen onder het zwarte knopje spuiten met contactspray, met het knopje bewegen en ingedrukt draaien, en klaar. Prima tip.

@@Microwave_Dave yes the 944 still runs great. Little issues to work out here and there, but that’s the fun of it. Sucks about your Ctek though…

Can you use WD forty?

I’m not sure, is it still charging, possibly those two lights are burnt or became unsoldered?

Okay, I see, you have to split the case and the fuse is inside. Now I have to find a 8A fuse.

@@moesgarage1403 I don't have a measuring device, but the only place I can order the 8A is from Radio Shack. I think its 5mm x 20, can you confirm?
