Brilliant idea! And for any fish keeper whose significant other has said “No more fish tanks...”... “But honey, it’s not a tank, it’s a pond!” So cute!!
Lol! Exactly! It’s just a sweet little basket haha!! 😂
@@thesmallscape yes!!!
Can you make a video on how many aquarium and ponds you have in your house it would be Fun to see them all in one video 😊
How did I miss this video last year? I have a 20 gal aquaponic pond with planter over the top in my kitchen. I'm actually upgrading it this week!

Omg, this was so simple and turned out great! Now it's on my to do list!
Yay! I’m so happy to hear it ☺️
Oh my gosh! I am so making one of these!!!!
I absolutely love this!!!!!
I’m thinking of getting a 300 gallon stock tank and digging out a spot so about a foot is above ground to keep grass and leafs out. Not sure what fish I would put in thinking goldfish. Now for the fun stuff-Did you know I’m good in bead, I hardly ever fall out now!😂🤣
Super fun and 🤦🏻♀️
When you said indoor kitchen pond, I was thinking big and would never get away with making one. This maybe just perfect without me getting into to much trouble, time to dig out the biggest bowl I can find 🤓
Woohoo!! Heck ya (hint coming - punch bowl!) 😊
Great use for something that gets used once in a blue moon 👍
Oh my, Joanna! I love your little pond!!! I have to copy your idea!!! Love it! Love it!
Yay!! So glad - have fun!!!☺️
Nice idea. Great little project.
Absolutely amazing, I’m totally doing this
Yay!! Enjoy! I’m loving mine ☺️
All I can say is WOW 🤩
😊 thank you!
Very cool!!! I would personally make a view hole on the front just because that’s my personal fave way of viewing but absolutely love your idea! I would never have thought of it. Thanks 🙏
Oh ya!! Reading my mind!! I almost cut a hole in the side of the basket but you can’t see through this glass too well...one of the next ones though! 🙌🙌
What a great idea. Love it.
Wonderful idea for a small indoor pond..... It's on the list. 😊
Woohoo!! ☺️☺️☺️
Adorable!!!!
I LOVE this idea!
Wow so cool and yes that does inspire me as well... I’m so excited for the hot weather coming!!! Great job👍👍👍👍

Girl, I LOVE this!!! I’m in the middle of planning and creating a “Me” room, and I want an indoor pond. This is perfect!
Oooh - sweet centerpiece for a she shed! Love that - “me” space!😃
It's like an Easter Basket for fish peeps! My kitchen is too small for a table let alone a pond, but I like this idea. I have a big glass bowl I've been trying to do something with, this makes me think. thx, and Happy Easter/ Spring etc.
Yes!! I thought it was appropriate for this week. ☺️☺️ bunnies..fish...kind of the same? 😂 Happy Easter and Spring to you too! 🙏
What a great idea! It's such a cute little pond, too! I would have never thought to use a basket like that, but I love it.
Yay! I have a problem with baskets - just love them for..like..everything. 🤭🥳
So cute! I love it!
That is so beautiful!

This is so cool! I would have never of thought of doing this! However I have cats so oh well 😹
They would love it for sure! 🤭😆
Wow! That is awesome!

Thank you!! 😃
So cute. Maybe add a cute fairy or gnome fisherman (person) or rowboat. Not needed but sooo cute. Thanks Joanna!! You always know how to help me drain my bank account! (at least on a budget :)
Oh yes!! You know me too well! I’m leaving the final touches ..and seasonal changes to post on Instagram. Oh! But funny story, Wendi - Jason picked a tiny frog figure to go in there and asked where are the flowers?! He’s funny...
@@thesmallscape We can be such influences on the men in our lives! bwah ha ha...

Neat!
This is fantastic. Sometimes thrifted items can look disparate and cheesy- it's quite an achievement to make it look so composed. I'm inspired to add that moss to my hanging baskets.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Ya, have fun with the moss - great indoors and out! 👍👍
Stellar vid , great work!!
Thank you! ☺️☺️
Oh man... Why did I have to see this 😂 I'm already addicted to fish tanks and house plants.... Now I feel like I need a mini indoor pond! It's absolutely beautiful and I love it. If you could add a nano fish which do you think would do well?
Haha! Ya - welcome to the club. Well, I chose the shrimp and Heterandria formosa since neither needs a heater. On other builds I’ve got my eye on some of our baby guppies/endlers though ... stay tuned. ☺️
@@thesmallscape exciting! Thank you!!
Looking good!
Thank you, Mridul!
Wow, this is great! Thank you for sharing all the possibilities people can do!
Makes me happy to hear that! ☺️
This is great you always come up with the most creative things I love this idea really great
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️☺️
Love it but won’t the shrimp jump out?
This is a little odd of a comment, but you remind me a little bit of Bob Saget. You have such charm and intelligence, and it is a joy to watch your vids!
Oh my gosh, that’s so sweet of you to say. ☺️
Joanna, you have outdone yourself. This is fantastic.
Darryl !!! Lol - thank you! You made my day. ☺️
OMG Joanna you never cease to amaze me with your ideas- I think this is one of your best yet! Now I am going to have to search my house for the best container/ bowl to give this a try. Thankfully my husband is like Mr Primetime- he goes along with all my (your) ideas! Lol- TYFS- can’t wait to see what you come up with next! Have a great day!
Thank you, Debbie!! Makes me so happy! Gotta love it when they go along with our madness. 😂😂
This is gorgeous! I am building an aviary with a waterfall and small stream and inadvertently you answered the question of how to have fish in a small pond but not cycle that same water through the landscaping but still make the water look as if it is flowing into the pond. Beautiful project and in particular I like the moss and the small floating vegetation. You have quite an artful eye and an abundance of creative talent. Nicely done!
OMG. Your talent and creativity has no bounds. Beautiful. I had a small indoor pond, populated with feeder guppies (as pets) in my bedroom which I loved, but ultimately moved the fish to larger tank. My pond was no where as beautiful as yours. Now, you given me the itch to set up an indoor pond again.
Thanks, Johnny! Have fun if you set up another one!
Ok, I was skeptical but now I want one too!!!!!!!!!👍😃👍😃👍😃💜💜💜💜💜 This is so adorable, cute and healthy. The humidity will help my allergies. The sounds of water will calm me and ok I gotta go to get my supplies for one right niw.bye.........
Oh haha!! Yes, it’s a winner all around ☺️
So great for that spring table centerpiece!! Oh I just love it!!! ❤️❤️
So cute! I love the way your mind sees things
It’s an interesting place in there.. ☺️
That is both beautiful and very creative!
Why wouldn't you put a pond on the kitchen table? LOL. You continue to inspire me!
Lol! I see NO reason not to. Haha! Thank you for the kind words, Mary!
You were right, not what I was expecting! That's neat!
Not that I wasn't expecting something neat 😂
Lol! Thank you! 😃
Just adorable! I absolutely love your little pond. I will definitely steal this idea! Thanks for your wonderful videos
Yay!! Steal away!! ☺️☺️☺️
OMG I just LOVE this. It turned out SO cute!!
Thank you, Kim! So happy to hear it ☺️
This is adorable!! Must convince my mom to let me set one up in the kitchen... lol
Lol! Good luck to you! 😂
This was inspiring thanks for the lovely video!
So sweet of you to say! ☺️
I love it! It's a really good ideia to have a pond in the kitchen, so cute!
Why not, right? ☺️
How cute! It's amazing what you can put together when you look around. For one mini pond I created, I did buy a container, it's a resin planter with no holes and looks like a whiskey barrel... was only $14 on Amazon, but everything else for the pond was stuff I already had. The planter is between 5 and 6 gallons, give or take... and has a surprisingly small footprint.... :)
So adorable! But what do you do for drainage for the land plants?
Hi! Well, I tend to push it with my land plants and keep many in closed containers but then again I work with smaller scales and frequently change things up when they get too big or I want to make a change for the season etc. ☺️
Very Cute Pond! What are you doing do temperature control for the pond water?
Hi! Neither species needs a heater. No direct drafts and only low/ indirect light during the day. ☺️
Will definitely be trying this! I have an aquarium I’m trying to balance but I’ve heard you should at least wait 2 weeks between each adjustment, and being full of staghorn algae, my impatient self has nothing else to do but try this!
Yay! Hope you have a blast! 😃
What fish did you put inside? What other fish would you be able to stock with? Would love to do something very similar. Thanks
This is so adorable and beautiful. Love it💞. Something small like this would make such a unique gift for someone too. I was reading through the comments and saw a suggestion of even putting in a couple of cpd’s. My suggestion is I wouldn’t. They do best in larger groups. I’d be worried they’d be really shy and stressed out which can lead to illness. I have 15 in a 15g planted aquarium and absolutely love watching them interact.
Hi Cheryl! Thank you so much! Oh, yes, I agree on the galaxy rasboras - I currently have mine in a small group in a 12g. I think they were just saying they would look like little trout. 😂 They would need more space then a 1.25g, mine get the zoomies. I appreciate the concern though, very nice of you to take the time. ☺️
@@thesmallscape Hi JoAnna, Oh good. Glad to hear you agree. I just started following you the other day and have seen several of your video’s already. I don’t usually comment but have definitely enjoyed watching them and hearing what you have to say. You have some beautiful aquariums and smart ideas. I’ve been keeping smaller tank/s for about 6 yrs but have kept larger tanks prior to that for several yrs. I love my shrimp and micro fish. I have Chili Rasbora’s too.
This is brilliant! I’m doing something similar but I can’t find a neat way to hide the air pump and it’s cord. How did you do it? Very inspiring!
I was wondering that also
Obviously a trick of the light but between 3.06 and 3.22 it looks like there is a fish trapped under the glass bowl!
That would only be funny at Halloween 😬
Or April fools day 😉
Haha!! I once did an Instagram post that looked like the Midas cichlids were in the lowboy ..or something like that. 😂
L❤VE!!!
Thank you!! ✨☺️✨
Omgggggggg you did it! I love love love adore adore adore this. I’ve seen people do tubs and huge planters. But this? Tooooo cute. Definitely taking notes here. Did you quarantine those shrimps? Jk jk jk 🤣🤣🤣 love this mini pond idea. I must attempt this. I’d buy that one off of you.
Btw got my shirt the other day! I love it, and I hope more peeps get their shirts too.
Yahooo!! So very glad!! And you got your shirt?! I’d like to thank you again for that - it makes me so happy. Closest thing I have to my dream of owning a shoppe. ☺️
This is adorable! You must not have cats! 😝
I love this! I wish I could do it. My cats would destroy it and eat the fish.
That would be a bad day (except for them) 🤭
Not sure about the curly fig, or if the entire family of Ficus is toxic to fish; I don’t think so, since creeping fig is frequently used with vivariums, paludariums, dart frogs & other amphibians, and they’re pretty sensitive to things-but in general, Syngoniums (aka arrowhead plant) are likely fine because they’re arums-the same family (Araceae) as Anubias, Bucephalandra, & Cryptocoryne, so I’m sure it’s fish-safe.
Araceae also contains many other plant genera that are frequently used in vivariums & paludariums…stuff like Aglaonema, Anthurium, Dieffenbachia, Monstera, Philodendron, Pothos, Spathiphyllum (peace lily), etc. to name a few. I’ve often hung pothos cuttings in my aquariums for the extra water ‘cleansing’ the roots provide, and the small schooling fish sometimes hide amongst the roots. Bettas and other labyrinth fishes like it too. I also prune the roots short once a month, so they don’t get too messy, and nothing happens as far as chemicals or enzymes being released into the water column. In fact, I heard if you take a cutting of a houseplant and root it in a cup of water, but you want it to root quicker, put a cutting of pothos or philodendron in with it, and it does something! Aroid plants have some sort of enzyme that triggers growth in their neighbors. So any aquarium with Anubias, Crypts, Buce or any other Araceae member will likely see good plant growth ;-)
