      Just make sure its somewhere where the water temp stays a steady temp a keep near a window not directly in front off to the side so when the sun goes down it isn't a huge change an invest in good bacteria. You can also get solar pumps an bubblers as well for water flow. ♡

    • @MrsBJPalmer

      It's so much fun to have these, and some with little waterfalls! It's easy too- just a little low flow aquarium pump to move the water, very inexpensive! (Less than $20!) Best of luck if you try this! You'll want more than 1, LOL!

    • @abalczon
      @abalczon 3 роки тому +5

      It doesn't require a lot of care compared to a lot of other aquatic environments, but don't just assume it's zero maintenance. Make sure it's not directly in the sun for long periods of time because you will get algae growth, maintain temperature, and some movement in the water from a small powerhead would also be a good idea. Be sure to still do small water changed periodically because there still are some elements that can build up from replacing evaporated water over long periods of time. Check your pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, phosphorus, etc still to be sure it's all in balance.

    I’m in my 50s now and I’m thinking a lot lately about what my future with motorcycles looks like. Lower displacement, lower weight bikes. Thinking about power to weight ratio. I’m on a BMW R1200RT today which is incredible for traveling but when my body gets weaker it will feel like a lot of bike to manage.
    Stripping down to when bikes were simpler, when 750cc was “big”, is my way forward.
    I do wish Triumph had a reliable presence in my city. They have a few bikes that might hit the sweet spot for a “forever bike”. Not just their modern classics, either. The Tiger Sport 660 looks attractive as something I could really enjoy now and keep enjoying later in life.
    I find myself rooting for the revival we are seeing in 400-650cc bikes.

      Are you allowed to collect from the wild?
      If yes, look at nature around you. Use local marginal plants, and add local wetlands fish / minnows, etc.
      For the winter you can surround with hay bales and put a thermal window on top to prevent freezing, or drop a horse trough heater in to keep one spot clear of ice, or use an insulated pond so that freezing water on top won't bust the pond.

      Once silicone is opened, put a screw in the end to reseal it.
      Be sure to uncock the glue gun, to relieve pressure on the screw. I don't build as much as Tanner, and never use as much silicone at once (unless I am resealing a tank).
      I have the same bottle of silicone I opened last year, and it is still viable.

    Great setup! But every time I’ve removed all the soil from roots, or pulled off roots like that, it’s caused extreme setback in the plants. What are you doing differently that “stimulates growth” as you say?
    I’ve always had the best results from not disturbing the roots, not cutting any live roots, and being gentle with roots in general (not breaking any roots).

      when you transplant a plant pot to pot, yes you do trim roots.
      The plant may seem smaller by trimming it roots and I see he did trim some leaves to clean it up ( big plant in middle) but over next 2-3 months, it'll bounce back fuller and healthier growth.

      @chemenginecat3940 3 роки тому

      @@hushpuppyandfriends5115 then what am I doing wrong that removing all the soil or trimming roots leads to a half dead plant and setback 2-3 months just to get it looking the same again?

Their entire house is filled with plants and terrariums and I’ve been thinking of making on of these as wedding gift for them but the others were a bit complicated for me. This is perfect! I will definitely be using this video as a guide for their new pond!!

    Wow. You have given me a great tip to use terrestrial plants instead of aquatic ones in my fish tubs / urns. I live in Thailand and keep platy, guppy, lace gourami, mollies, and beta fish outdoors in large posts like this. I have always used aquatic plants as I thought the roots of land plants would rot in the water. I am off tomorrow to the plant market to find some of the plants that you used! If it means I can cut down on water changes it will be fantastic.

    oh, deja vu. I made a most excellent patio pond with a small black type pond pot. I had some (non-reproducing) snails, some fancy guppies and a couple of goldfish. I seeded with bio activator and planted. No filter or aerator. In a couple of week the water cleared and it was amazing! Then the raccoons discovered it, ripped it apart to get to the fish, killed most and I was heartbroken. I decided that my little house in the big woods was not a place for this type of beauty. Sad. This one is beautiful!

      I do something similar, and I live in SC. Just doesn’t need to be in direct sun, and use outdoor hardy plants. Mine gets a splash from the garden house twice a day to help with generating oxygen. My grandmother did the same, in huge clay pots. You will get some algae, but not much. I also use gold fish the same, just not too much. Best wishes 💐

    This is very nice, I need something very simple because where I live you need a damn permit for everything and I wanted a nice little pond. Nothing too big as I live on a small section of my parents house since it’s a two side home and I do not have the funds for a grand pond or do one because of my disabilities. This was perfect, small, and not too much for self made cost.
