Agreed! Lots of innovations. They are definitely scaling towards high performance/conversion EV's these days and maybe less of the traditional ebike market.
Another great detail video. Can you do a video explaining the differences of their batteries!? As in range, speed, torque from 60v45.4ah vs 72v36ah for example.
Hey man! Yeah for sure I can do that! I'm actually reviewing the 66v 42.5ah batter next. I think that's like the perfect balance in terms of power, efficiency and range and right in the middle between a 60v and 72v setup. I have experience with both so I'll do my best to compare and contrast those differences. Thanks for the feedback!
@RunPlayBack no problem man. I enjoy your content. I'm purchasing items before I purchase the Surron. And debating on what battery makes sense for me (even tho the batteries are 300-500 price difference from each other). Alongside which controller between BCA400 (With heat shield) or KO controller
@@ajjax89 I found this on their site which might be helpful too! support.chibatterysystems.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404272174231-Should-I-buy-the-60V-or-72V-Gladiator-
I wonder if they're looking into the blade style batteries from BYD. If they found a way to build them in-house, with blade cells stacked like a sandwich it would probably make for a more energy dense solution, especially on Sur Ron style batteries. Kinda sucks the battery market is still using old 18650 cells as the standard.
For the Surron batteries, kind of. Just requires replacing the battery lid risers, takes like 5 minutes. For the touring batteries, you have to replace the bottom battery plate. Not really difficult but requires a little more time than just replacing the lid risers. Their install guides are easy enough to follow for beginners.
For their Gen2 they use a Smart BMS with custom PCB. I believe that's how they draw percentage, voltage, capacity (Amp Hours), battery temperature, amps and watts on the new LCD display. And I think you can still use the Smart BMS bluetooth app to access the same data as well.
Hey Rick, I ordered my battery back in Nov. with Chi batteries and still have not received it. Are they still the good company they claim? Just a little worried.
I can't speak on behalf of Chi but as far as I can tell they've beefed up their customer support. I'd reach out to them on their contact page so they're aware of your concerns. My guess is that with the holidays things may have gotten delayed, not sure. They'll take care of you though, I wouldn't be worried, personally. support.chibatterysystems.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I hear ya! However, I think Chi specializes in specific PEV's that they can do real world testing with in house in order to maximize performance and efficiency. So like less of a one size fits all solution and more of a targeted, specific solution.
@@RunPlayBack I feel that but a triangle shaped would fit more bikes like bike conversions like mountain bikes fat bikes etc high capacity’s because I use a 72v 20ah triangle made from 21700 Tesla cells but the company I bought from won’t make a bigger one because they make them default like that
@@ihavetowait90daystochangem74 Oh I see what you mean. I'm not really sure Chi would make batteries specifically for MTB conversions but perhaps in the future? It might be worth reaching out and asking them directly. If anything they may offer to do a custom job, although I'm sure that could be a little pricey. Or they could recommend someone who specializes in custom battery builds.
@@RunPlayBack I have a question I really appreciate you responding most UA-camrs don’t Currently I have a knaap e-bike with a 60v24ah battery with 1000w motor I changed the original components it was 36v before 250w Right now with moped tires going 12mph I only get 26miles range with hills etc to me that sounds really less considering I did the exact same range when I had the 36v 21ah battery but without moped tires do you think the moped tires reduce that much range that I’m using a near double capacity battery and still get same range ?
Really depends on what your "power" needs are. The touring has more range (distance/time) potential, but the max has more performance (torque/speed) potential.

It really is! 👍👍👍
Great video bro!
Appreciate it!
I love cbxr and CHI 72 gladiator!
I have a 72v Gladiator as well and feel the same way!
Dope content my brother 🙌
Appreciate you bro, thanks!
Great job on the video Rik! Thanks for making it.
Any time! Always happy to help!
Awesome video 📹 👏🏾
Aye thanks bro!
Love this video really brings light to innovation.
Thanks Jay! 🙏
I'm actually surprised how few views this has considering how epic the video and the facility are
Lol yeah I dunno, probably wasn't algorithm friendly I suppose.
@@RunPlayBack They need to change that algorithm haha very well done!
Let’s hope they make a ultra bee battery. I’m sure the ultra will be usual sur Ron budget parts that real enthusiasts want to upgrade
Would be great, I’m guessing they are waiting for the market and see what the adoption for the ultra is before making one for it.
Awesome stuff, like their mentality. Wish they made something for mine! ⚡⚡
Agreed! Lots of innovations. They are definitely scaling towards high performance/conversion EV's these days and maybe less of the traditional ebike market.
The bad thing they don't build batteries for ariel rider, something powerful 72 volts.
I hope they do it in the future.
I'd reach out to them and let them know. Ariel Rider is a big market they might be interested in.
gonna buy more batteries from soon :)
Really impressed with how far they've come in just a year!
banger vid bro
Thanks bud! 🙏🙏

For high capacity or high discharge, they are using 21700 cells, not 18650

Cool. I've got a question. Are their setups a plug and play?

Do you know if they are using a bms for discharge in their new batteries?

Still no waterproof rating ? Still a good weather battery ...
All their Surron batteries are sealed, but they haven't submitted for IP ratings, if that's what you're asking ?
lol $2500 for a battery and its not even new lipo technollagy its the same we have for a decade atleast
Tell me, how would you build a better battery that's cheap? Break it down for me.
