Your baby crying in the background while you made pasta made me feel so much better about how it’s currently going in my house, my baby is having a very grumpy day and is constantly crying and complaining while I’m trying to make dinner. It helps to know others go through the same thing. Thanks for keeping it real!

Love to see your free flow style of cooking turning into hearty meals every time. Maybe a pasta tip that will help you out the next time: I like to connect the two ends of the pasta after a few runthroughs so that it forms a loop and feeds itself back into the pasta maker. It’s a small thing, but can make a huge difference when making large quantities!

I'm sure a pasta drying rack would be nice, but growing up we would always lay our pasta out on the table just like you did! We would let them dry on the table and then place them in a big brown paper bag in the pantry where it would keep for ages. These days I like to divide my fresh pasta into portions, toss well in flour, then store the pasta nests in a big tupperware in the freezer. I just toss the pasta nest pucks right into the boiling water straight from the freezer! Pasta making is always such fun, especially when done with a loved one :) I love your easy-going style of cooking, such fun to watch what you come up with!

You can cook it fresh, or what I do is gently swirl it into a pile, freeze it on a cookie sheet and then put the piles into a baggie and use them frozen. Just put in boiling water and gently tease them apart with a fork as they cook.

It was really nice to hear the audio of the kids in this one. I'm always wondering how the heck your life is so calm and serene and you have all this time and space to make all this food every day from scratch. Don't get me wrong, I know your style is completely unpretentious and down-to-earth, but I still get carried away in the serenity of background music and I always think how I've gotta get my life together like you. You've got 4 more kids than I do and you're making scratch pasta with home-milled flour. Sheesh.

We called them Salmon Cutlets. I loved Salmon cutlets as a child, they were a treat as tinned salmon was so expensive when I was a child. My mum always coated ours in Matzo meal before frying. Crunchy and delicious.
I discovered you don't need to peel garlic, just place the individual clove in the crusher, point down, the garlic pushes through and just leaves the skin and base behind. Wish I had discovered this year's ago.

With those frozen meat chubs, you don't have to thaw them before cooking. Just run it under enough water to loosen the plastic bag, and then toss in the pan with a bit of water and put the lid on to cook over medium heat. Every so often take the lid off and scrap off the thawed/cooked meat. It works like a charm.

Love this episode! “Never make pasta with a two year old.” 🤦🏻‍♀️I was cracking up! 🤣😂 The look on his face was priceless! I noticed while you were slicing on your cutting board that it wobbles and shimmies a little. Mine did too, in fact I cut my hand one time because it turned on me. Now I found that if I place my dishcloth or my jar opener rubber circle underneath the board stays put! That especially helps when I’m cutting massive amounts of produce for canning!
I’ve never used an Instant Pot, but would a crock pot help you with the overnight simmering /day long cooking or is it too much clutter for your kitchen? Thank you for inviting us in to your home. I always learn something new, have a smile come to my face, and am reminded how precious family time is. 🙌🏻🥰

not sure if you know this hack, but we also have chickens and found it hard to peel the eggs after boiling. If you add a tablespoon of olive oil in the water as its boiling, then rinse the eggs after boiling is complete, and put eggs in ice water for 3 minutes the shells literally slide right off. :)

Just found you.... I have been binge watching LOL ..... I have to know, how was the pasta? And did you end up doing a separate vlog on how to make it? It looks amazing.

I love the dress! You remind me of women in the dust bowl! That’s a good thing these women knew how stretch a meal. TFS

It looks like you have some older correlle plates, are you worried about the lead content in them? I have some newer ones too but was offered some older ones with the design and I hear you shouldn't use them anymore?
