      Hey Tom, I shoot punk shows. Aquabats are amazing. That said, I was a Sony shooter A7S3, etc. loved it. But didn’t like the fact the FX3 didn’t have true video tools. I made the switch to c70 and R3. I do miss some aspects of the A7S3 but love the Canon workflow more (now more than ever with my M1Pro)
      That said, about MicroHDMI, I was disgruntled about it too, initially, but then realized the HDMI clamps work great. The one included that mounts onto the body or a third party solution that clamps onto a cage, whatever it’s fine. And actually more secure than the standard HDMI without a clamp.
      Just my two cents. Not a deal breaker.
      P.S. also being a DevOps Engineer, I love firmware updates. I track a ton of companies development progress, even ones I don’t own, and one bad thing about Sony is their lack of updates. It seems Sony would rather you buy their next new camera then update their currents…. This is where Canon has been killing it.

    If you have an occasion to use the R5C again and you're filming in 8K RAW, you can turn on the dual recording to put proxies on the SD card so you don't have to transcode the RAW files. That should make for a much better workflow if you still don't have a computer that works well with the RAW files. I find the 4K H.265 harder to edit than the 8K RAW, but that is on the R5 not the R5C.
    Thanks for the video, it was very interesting and there were some beautiful shots!

      "Danggg 20 mins just shooting in 4k? Dannnnggg!!" what? I just picked up the R5c last week and it's so good that no UA-cam review is doing it justice. The R5c for video is what the R5 is to photography and more. The 4K xfav codec is incredible and the dynamic range blows the R5 out of the water.

    Okay, I think we seriously gotta stop it with these "Switching system" bait. If you like the camera, just use it. If it fits your workflow, just use it. Today, Canon, Nikon and Sony are all 3 great companies producing quality mirrorless cameras now. Sony will always still be in the lead with its innovation and creativity. The most important thing to remember is that how expensive is it to switch system? We hear people always talking about switching systems but they will never talk about how much it cost to switch systems. I'm a Sony user and will never switch to a new system unless I win the lotto. Lenses aren't cheap. Cameras aren't cheap. And gears for them aren't cheap. All of my Sony cameras, lenses, and gears combined is value at $25k U.S. dollars. If i were to sell them to move onto another system, I be lucky to get $20k U.S. dollars back from resell value.
    We see so many youtubers that have the privilege to switch system with ease while real life users do not have this privilege. For them to even get 1 great lens is already tough enough, I can't imagine them selling all of that to move onto another system as easy as the youtubers do. Jared Polin, I understand why he uses all 3 systems is because he is a camera guy reviewer and he buys all of his gears. Jason Vong sticks to only Sony is because he loves it and has invested so much into it. Then you have someone like Tony & Chelsea that switches brands like crazy that I stopped following them.
    This system switch would have been huge back in 2015 when Sony's mirrorless tech started becoming better and better over DSLR tech. But today, there just isn't enough justification to switch systems since all 3 brands are just that damn good.

      @@JasonMorrisphotocinema Haha, i watched your whole video before commenting. Yes, i can see where you stand and how you are entice to switch to the R5c. One of the biggest reason why I switched from Canon to Sony is because of Canon's lack of innovation back in 2015. They never went with mirrorless tech or invested in it until Sony destroyed them. I couldn't wait for Canon to release a superior mirrorless camera like the A7Sii back then. I won't ever switch back to Canon or Nikon because there just isn't enough reasons to do so anymore today. Anyone new to this camera world, i recommend them to test all brands out first. See what they really like and stick with it because gears for them are not cheap.

    I do not know what kind of computer you have but I use an m1 pro macbook and I am able to scrub through 8k canon raw lite footage with ease in davinci resolve. When I shoot externally to the atomos ninja v+ and use apple prores raw hq in 8k which is my preferred method since the dynamic range is better in clog2 vs clog3, I have to import the video in adobe premiere pro and select clog 2 color space which I then export in prores 4444xq. I then bring this clip into davinci and can scrub though that as well without issue.

    Cameras don’t create outstanding videos/movies. The person holding the camera does. So please (all) stop the madness with switching cameras back and forth cause there’s something “better” out there. Any modern camera these days is capable of producing fantastic footage. So stop worrying about your hardware and keep creating people!

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema

      I agree. The only reason someone should switch is because of their shooting style, clientele or workflow suits another camera

    • @contentm3893
      @contentm3893 2 роки тому +2

      B.S. @marcel kaiser - Take the R5c and the A7s II and shoot the same content. Which one will be better? Camera gear gets older, stop being produced and are replaced because you want a better camera. A camera with better codecs and dynamic range means it will be easier to color correct which means less time in post and less money spent. A better camera with AF and cine specific menu means you can get cinematic results that you can't get with the A7sII or GH5. No one ever said if you buy a NEW Canon R5c that you will be less creative and have to sacrifice good story telling. The R5c is better than anything below it in the Canon line up and better than anything Sony has under the FX6. Nobody but you are worried about other peoples hardware. Everyone else want to be informed. In this case the R5c is not just a small upgrade in feature and image quality.

But nobody tells you not to spend your money on new gear. It’s your money. Do whatever you want with it.

      @@marcelkaiser5021 Of course I can tell the difference between the R5c and the A7SII or between the R5c and the R5 or GH6 or S1. It's about dynamic range, color reproduction, and all the other differences we see when we watch a movie filmed with an Arri. What do you film with? Be honest. The beauty of the R5c is that it steps it's little toe into the cine world. This is something that no other hybrid camera has done. Who doesn't want to capture content with a cine camera that doesn't have to be rigged up? Do you take your Arri to your kids soccer games? No, you would look like an idiot. You can take the R5c to that soccer game and get cine quality and not look like an idiot. Not a bad trade off.
