60+ white girl here- my mom had a bottle of lotion in every room and taught me to moisturize after bathing and washing our hands. I always get compliments on how soft my skin is and how people can’t believe my age. Also, love that you continue to use perfectly good items instead of jumping on the bandwagon for the next trend. Same. Wonderfully organized packing job. Thanks for sharing. ☮️
I think lotioning up every day is definitely taught more in the Black community. I'm white, but my husband of 18 years is Black and he stressed the importance of it, so it's a habit for me. I'd say my skin is very soft at age 48. I don't think it would be so soft if I hadn't been faithfully lotioning up all these years! Thanks for this video, as we are planning for a two week trip ourselves. ❤️
Lots of space af the bottom of the suitcase - the sunken grooves where the handles are. Great place for individually wrapped shoes/slippers. And you can place the garment bag over it, no space is lost. I also tuck things between packing cubes as there is lots of space there.
Eagle creek hands down makes the best travel products. When I started at TCS I used to do travel demos all the time and everyone was always amazed at just how much can fit in a carryon. Had my eagle creek products for years and never have an issue. Worth it!
Your luggage setup is #goals ... everything from the long lasting suitcase, to the packing cubes 🌟, to minimal wardrobe, personal care items, and all your tech. And yes, moisturizing is necessary for dry skin but apparently everyone wasn't raised the same and it's not critical for non-dry skin sufferers lol Also dry skin thrives in tropical locations 😉
My suitcase could never look as good as yours but thank you for the inspiration. I am also a lotion person; I have been doing that since I was 13. Now 50 years later I must say my skin looks pretty good.
Yep! Mom greased me down after baths when I was little. I still do it now (I have dry skin). Tip...I love eucerin.... the unscented shower wash is sooooo moisturizing and gentle on my skin!
Rolling helps and hanging everything when you get to the destination REALLY helps! If something is REALLY wrinkled, I actually hung it in the bathroom while I showered and let the steam work it out lol
I'm sorry that you had to endure the twisted ending but glad that you survived. Looking forward to the food packing video as well. As a non-coffee (only tea) drinker, I can't wait to learn about your kettle. It's so frustrating to travel and not have a way to make a true cup of tea.
haha my family was also serious about moisturizing after showers! We were also strict about putting oil in our hair - very common for Indian households 🙂
I had always put lotion on my legs after a shower because I would get so itchy, but I picked up the full body moisturization habit from my college roommate 😆 Hope you're feeling better!
I enjoyed watching your packing video. No fluff but all practical items. I added a few things to my Amazon cart, namely the garment bag. I like the sturdy quality of yours. Good to know they still make them. 😉
I'm going to a family reunion in 2 weeks so this video is perfecttttt for me right now! I am also a gamer and content creator so let's goooooo let's pack!!!
My mom did not put lotion on us. Maybe my skin would look better! Too much sun loving when I was young, sunscreen was not a thing… baby oil before lying in the sun!
It’s not a black thing. I’m white and have always used lotion after showers and every day. In my 20’s, my roommates and I used Baby Oil after showers before drying off and it really makes your skin so smooth. I’m 64 now and still use it maybe once a week and my skin is still super soft…my husband always comments how soft it is. 😊
I ❤ your packing videos!! I have to immediately apply lotion after getting out the shower. I also apply it to my hands through out the day. Lotion and chapstick are a must. Water bottle is a must for curly girls!! 😊
My mother never got on me about lotion but I do have some dry (and very pale) skin. Not using lotion daily is not an option for me. Oh, and I also have cocoa butter on hand now because I am healing tattoos. Not a dry spot to be had here.
I'm white, but the moisture thing works for me, too. I think our pores open up in a hot shower, so if we apply moisturizers/lotion right after the shower our pores maybe absorb the moisturizers better...just guessing but it makes sense.
❤ packing cubes . They keep everything organized. Pill Boxes are also 👍. I have a couple that I used for small items not related to medication. Kiehl I have seen in Ulta Beauty but not in my local CVS. I have that exact one 🎉 for my electronics when I travel. 💯 the bag is 😎
Can confirm about lotion, lol. I'm black, but I don't remember my mom saying to lotion all the time. Dry skin and being ashy is not it. 😅 Moved on to body butters as I got older. Regular lotion feels too watery. Maybe I just got drier? 🤷🏾♀️
Good VLOG, hope you’re feeling better. I thought I was the only one who traveled with “Tide Pods,” 😂 I usually put like three of them in a cheap plastic container.
The lack of hand soap (or hand soap the dries my hands out!) is my biggest travel irritant. I don't like sharing a tiny bar of soap with my fellow travelers either! I always travel with the travel size bottle of Dr. Bronner's soap from Target - the brand doesn't matter to me, but the Dr. Bronner's travel bottle size is perfect (a little smaller/thinner than standard bottles) and brightly colored so I don't forget it when I leave the hotel. And yes - my mom insisted on lotion. We were not going to embarrass her in public and she would inspect us! Jergen's in the '90s and Vaseline lotion when it came out in the early 2000s. I don't regret being trained on the habit and have never had ashy knees!
Wish you had used a counter because I can’t believe how many items you got into that carry-on, and I’d love to know the number😂 Thank you for another great video❤❤ ❤
Did the airline let you take all three bags as carry-on in the cabin? You had more than two bags, including carry-on baggage and a small bag. Keep in mind that not all airlines allow more than two bags. Did they weigh your bags?
I'm not a traveler, but I love your pack with me videos! In my opinion, moisturizing your body immediately after you shower might be a gender thing? My husband and 2 out of 3 of my sons don't moisturize right away 😂
I have had an great variety of jobs in my lifetime! But I have been self-employed since 2018. Between the 3 UA-cam channels I run, consulting and working as a musician, I am quite fulfilled 🥰 All of the content about the opera stuff, etc has been moved over to my personal channel. So, check it out if you're interested!
You don’t have to, I just wanted to offer it if you did not know it existed. I've paid more in taxes as a self-employed person than I ever did as an employee but I am much happier. Most genres of music did not go away and artists are still an important part of the world. The new opera I was in last year was awarded a Pulitzer Prize shortly after the production wrapped. It was sold out before it opened. People are very much still flocking to the theater, as well as going to films and reading books and buying sculptures. Yes, it’s still a thing. Creative careers are still jobs and it’s important that we respect the work and effort of everyone no matter what their work looks like 🥰
I don't recall mom specifically telling us to put on lotion after a bath or showering. Could just be something naturally ingrained in our culture as black people. 😊🧴🙏🏾💙
My trip has a twist ending! 😂😷😩 Also this was a ROAD TRIP, not a flight. My destination was a three hour drive. None of these items went through TSA.
Oh no!!
Yikes! 😷
Take care❤
Hope you are feeling better!❤❤❤
When my mom passed away, as the only girl, I got her lotion bottles. It took me two years to use her stash! 😂❤😂. I had a nice memory of her every day!
That's sweet

I`m white, from Sweden- my mom always made me moisturize after showering. I miss my mom😢
Sending you a big ole hug ❤️
Oh my God this was the most hysterical video I have seen in years!!!! Loved it!!
Lots of space af the bottom of the suitcase - the sunken grooves where the handles are. Great place for individually wrapped shoes/slippers. And you can place the garment bag over it, no space is lost. I also tuck things between packing cubes as there is lots of space there.
Yes, my mom made sure we were lotion(ed) down! I guess that's another reason why I started making bath & body products.
LOL white girl here and I have ashy skin- lotion is a must! Thanks for sharing with us!

I enjoyed your video. And love all your dog patterned items. And love your dog Mom shirt! As a dog Long myself, I totally appreciate your vibe.😊
Yes, finally someone else who uses the little Nalgene bottles! They are my go-to for travel!
I love a packing video ❤❤ What a beautiful time of year for traveling to Maine! At least enjoy some blueberry desserts 😋

Yes, black & lotion after a shower is a must. Bonus my mom would mix vaseline & water and put it on our faces before we left the house
yes my mum would do the same but my memory tells me she would smother me in olive oil.
I hope you are feeling better. Yes, lotion is life. 🙌🏽😂 I love the rose gold tooth brush, fancy! 😍 Tfs and traveling graces!
Thank you so much! Day 2 and 3 were ROUGH but hoping we’re turning a corner 😂
My suitcase could never look as good as yours but thank you for the inspiration. I am also a lotion person; I have been doing that since I was 13. Now 50 years later I must say my skin looks pretty good.
This is why I enjoy your vysi much. You stay true to yourself.

White girl here - I oil before I get out of the shower to keep soft skin.moms know best! 💛💛💛
Oh, an opera workshop sounds so fun!
I loveee love love when you do a video like that! 😍
I never thought of bringing the switch dock. What a great idea!
This was a lot of fun to watch. I always hate packing for trips and I find unpacking even worse. 😂
Loved this episode. But I would love to know how you folded everything so it didn’t wrinkle…especially the things in the garment bag
I would love to know!!
Rolling helps and hanging everything when you get to the destination REALLY helps! If something is REALLY wrinkled, I actually hung it in the bathroom while I showered and let the steam work it out lol
Love the tech organization. I need to up my game. Have fun at camp! 🏕 🎶

I am a Container Store-aholic. I love seeing you use so many items that I too have purchased and love from The Container Store 💜
Always lotion or oil down while I’m still damp after my evening showers. My mom used to put baby oil in our bath water when we were little.
haha my family was also serious about moisturizing after showers! We were also strict about putting oil in our hair - very common for Indian households 🙂
I noticed a lot of open space not used under your garment bag between the poles. I always use those areas, surprising how much can fit there.
This was cool, now I want to pack too - but I´m not going anywhere...
It's not just a black thing, it's also an eczema thing. I'm always on my son about lotioning up. He's 11 and doesn't really want to do much skin care.
I had always put lotion on my legs after a shower because I would get so itchy, but I picked up the full body moisturization habit from my college roommate 😆
Hope you're feeling better!

I’m white and my Mom also was huge on the lotion after a bath or shower. I still do it after every one to this day!
I'm so glad you love the calathea rattlesnake earrings!! thank you for sharing your tips!!
Wow it looks so nice with all the packing cubes! 🤩 I’ve only used bags for toiletries and undergarments
I'm going to a family reunion in 2 weeks so this video is perfecttttt for me right now! I am also a gamer and content creator so let's goooooo let's pack!!!
Yes, Kay, my mother's tips with lotion all the time. And kept my brown skin moist for years.

Ooooh! Love this! Hoping to pick up some tips for my 2.5 week trip in October!
New video drops and my evening is made!!!

I push my carry on to the max haha back pack suite case and tote bag. Love your packing aesthetic i am also a packing cube girlie
It seems like you are super prepared. Was there anything you wish you had packed after you got there?
Great video!! Where can I find the garment bag?
Good VLOG, hope you’re feeling better. I thought I was the only one who traveled with “Tide Pods,” 😂 I usually put like three of them in a cheap plastic container.
Great tips!!! Thanks 😄
You are so welcome!
What foods did you take and how did you cook in room
Video coming soon! There was a full kitchen in the suite ☺️
Am new to your channel love it. Where can I get an awesome travel mirror like you show in the travel case in this video. Thanks Lois
The mirror should be in my Amazon shop!
Finally a relevant packing video for me because I only wear dresses…
White girl, and I Wish my mom had taught me that! I had to learn myself and I put lotion on my boys after bath because they have my dry skin.
I REALLY want the tote bag, but I didn’t see that on your Amazon page. 😢
Yes, lotion was mandatory after bathing. And I do understand the water bottle.
Hi, Kay! Yes, I am Black, and my Mom insisted that I use Vaseline before going to school and lotion after taking a bath. 😂😂😂
do you have any information on that jewelry wallet? I've been looking for something like that!
It’s discontinued sadly :( I popped a few similar items on my Amazon list!

Jergens followed by Vaseline lotion…we grew up in the same house! But not the same decades. ☮️
every color should moisturize after shower but it is more visually noticeable on darker skin.
I wasn’t clear on whether you were flying or driving. If going through TSA, how did you handle all the liquids you pre-packed?
Driving!
Wish you had used a counter because I can’t believe how many items you got into that carry-on, and I’d love to know the number😂 Thank you for another great video❤❤ ❤
Do you check your bag? How do you get past the 3-1-1 rule?
This was a road trip
Fellow curly girl - I really should be carrying a spray bottle!
Puerto Rican here. My skin is super dry. I'm forever slathering myself in lotion.

@@TheOrganizedSopranoah! Even better a road trip to see the landscape 😊
OMG where is CLOVER 🍀 😢I miss him‼️
He stayed behind with his dad while I was away! They had a great time bonding!
I am mexican. Also use lotion rt after shower
I didn't see you pack any jeans or bottoms did I miss that!
I packed one pair of sweatpants and I was wearing jeans. ☺️
@@TheOrganizedSoprano Ahhhhh!
My mom made sure to have the lotion ready after a bath. She would put baby oil on my face before school too 😭
I am a pale Nordic person with the driest skin imaginable. I always travel with “lotions and potions😂
Black woman here and yes lotion everyday😊
Aaaaaw, what's Clover going to do without you?
He stayed with his dad! He’s a good doggy daddy!
@@TheOrganizedSoprano Adorable!
Of course lotion every day!!
First aid kit maybe????
I don't think soft skin put the lotion on is a black thing. I was also taught that by my mother.
Still to this day...
I'm not a traveler, but I love your pack with me videos! In my opinion, moisturizing your body immediately after you shower might be a gender thing? My husband and 2 out of 3 of my sons don't moisturize right away 😂
Dry skin girl and lotion all day. My oily skin friends don’t get it. Can’t stand my skin feeling dry.
Right? It’s so tight feeling I want to scream. Lotion all day!
yes, as a black woman, I lotion my entire body after showering.
Every day after I shower, I lotion my legs and arms. After I retired I began this ritual. I'm Hispanic and have very dry skin.
A work trip? I didn't think you had a job.
