he ment they had more commercial potential, but he is not a guy like david bowie or bruce springsteen or looks like cure or depeche. even rupert hyne was the producer...for this its underrated. my favorite album from 1983...but i love also the double-lp, i have at home...mmmmh...fucking good. also underrated (no top 100 i think on single charts). Bad Marketing I think, but when I think about: Julian cope is the most underrated....

At a time when so many bands were struggling to find a cool look, The Fixx were there to provide rock solid music without a bunch of nonsense. I saw them several times in the 80’s and they were always awesome. The Fixx were generally classified as New Wave, but they were much more than that. In my opinion they were in a category all their own.

My daughter & I attended this concert on July 30 at the Oriental Theatre. We greatly enjoyed the music, along with the other concertgoers. The Fixx encouraged participation with the songs, especially the songs 'Stand Or Fall' & 'Red Skies'. (I have the vinyl LP "Reach The Beach" of which my favorite song is 'Outside'; although "Beautiful Friction" being my favorite album).
We met Cy, Jamie & Adam after the concert. They were very courteous & friendly. My daughter bought me the commemorative "Reach The Beach' towel of which they had autographed for me. We did not have the opportunity to meet Rupert & Dan. (Although I have met Rupert at last year Fixx concert at the Summit Music Hall, along with Cy & Adam). My best regards to the Fixx, that they will return to Denver.
Again, we enjoyed the Fixx music that night, hearing from the original band members from the 2nd album to date. [Thank you, Joshua Kenney, for the upload of this video]

Outstanding musicianship of the group, with spectacular vocals from Cy Curnin. Current members of The Fixx are band members that performed on the studio album "Reach The Beach".

U2 were a 'supergroup" though not at first, lots of image and hype eg "the Edge"? pah, maybe they just got sucked into it; this was new wave//new romantic right, quite a diff genre really; arty, ethereal, often understated (which U2 barely were, though Unforgettable fire has a few great lesser known tracks) creative producing, though also a little basic, I loved it, this was one of our absolute fav bands in the early 80's as we partied in Wellington NZ like the late teen//early 20's guys that we were!! never to be repeated

It was in a Hockey arena, so there was a second level above the main floor that my buddy and I could walk around on, I was able to watch them perfrom from just above and behind the stage set only about 25 feet from Rupert, I could read the set list from on his keyboard rack from there. They'd never allow this these days. Great memories.

When I hear The Fixx I think of MTV immediately. I had no idea they had been around for such a long time. I saw them open for Drivin' n' Cryin' around 1991 at Sandy Creek amusement park End of Summer Jam. What a memorable concert at a fantastic venue that was surrounded by woods and natural terrain. I could not see any signs of the venue at all from the parking area but I saw a trail of people heading onto a trail into the woods singing songs. Fireworks at the end of the show, a lot of mushrooms being consumed and of course alcohol consumed which culminated into a fight that broke out onto the stage. Drivin' n' Cryin' had to quit playing as they got things under control. I can remember the bass player Tim saying welcome to the wide world of sports. The next night I would catch Drivin' n' Cryin' in Panama City Beach Florida at club La Vela that would result in curfews being imposed because of the crowd that spilled out onto the beach and caused many problems. Place was so crowded I thought it was going to collapse. Rowdy crowd was out of control. Somebody got stabbed, somebody got dosed. They were burning rental beach chairs and equipment on the beach. Somebody thought they was a firewalker and was walking through the fire!

Absolutely original! I was still a teen when these guys broke--but I played an instrument (poorly), read music (slowly), and knew enough to understand that the Fixx are in many ways without peers. Like INXS, they seem to have created their own musical universe, albeit a pop one. But in the 80s pop could be exquisite. The lovely vibes that permeated the decade will never be repeated, never. It is odd that the tacky 70s informed the 80s and then the 90s came in like a dark cloud, snuffing out the ebullience of the 1980s. But such is the fickle passing of time--merciless and devoid of nostalgia. What a pity! The Fixx are extraordinarily original--they remind me of Sophocles with their sense of drama and endless imaginative fantasies, horizons, mystical and evocative explorations. All done superbly, effortlessly. I continue to enjoy this band. They are a band for the ages.

Whoa.. I think I was at this concert and I remember being pretty close to the front because I kept thinking "this guy is really tense" while almost looking straight up to watch him. Saw lot's of great 80s bands at The Rainbow while a student in college. I now live in Tokyo and this almost seems like a time in life I almost forgot about. Strange, especially when this just randomly popped up! Domo!
