That guitar part and the off-beat timing make this song much harder than it seems. The Fixx is amazing. And yeah, who is listening in 2021?

2021? When it was new and again in 2022!!!
Yes, they are. I saw them live with the Furs at San Pedro Pier in . . . around the mid-2000s. Both were awesome. Berlin was another story . . . yikes.
The Fixx still has it. They remain a great band and their icy sound still reigns years later. The rock of the 80's was the best ever.
Wow the song hasn't been tuned down to accomodate any aging vocals, he's still hitting all the notes on the higher end. Bravo!
Great band with all the original members. Cy's voice never changed and Jamie's guitar still rings like it did in '83.
One of the VERY best and most talented, yet somewhat inexplicably underrated, bands ever. Still sounding great!
aged very well. sound the FUCKIN same . LOVE IT
Hayden Wittig AGREED
Timeless music, perfected. None of the band members have missed a beat after all these years.
I was stunned to learn "Stand or Fall" was not their biggest hit for The Fixx. It is one of the best rock songs ever and Cy Curnin has such a terrific personality that brings the band together.
It's actually an anthem.
He is a fantastic frontman. They are really great to watch live. I hope I get the chance to see them again!
@@mikentosh Probably "One Thing Leads To Another"
Mikentosh IDK for sure, but *“Saved by Zero“* is my favorite.
over here in Europe, Less Cities was their most popular track
A haunting, timeless tune. This brings back so many memories. The 80’s was a great time to come of age.
Only who lived in the eighties know the real atmosphere of that musics.
I'm was a teen in the early 80's and liked their songs on the radio, but wow ... I didn't realize 'till now what an amazing group of super talented musicians and singers these guys are. Suddenly, I'm into them again, but for different reasons now. I'm on a Fixx marathon today and loving it.
Today's music is garbage compared to the 80s
Alot of prog rock and alternative groups in the 1980s were known for having some of the best live performances. The original 80s style In my opinion came from the English alternative wave influenced by David bowie and pink floyd. Though the later 80s power ballads will always be cool
Listen to One look up off their Walkabout album 👍🏻
wow, how good is it when the bass goes into the major at 3:48, totally uplifts the whole track, great change up, and what a voice, what a band
I'm a huge early 80's music fan. The Fixx was one of my favorites I would play constantly. The 80's was and still is the best era for music.
TAKE SOME FROM EACH ERA GENRE
This song isn't played on 80s playing stations anymore.
Bummet
They sound just as good as I remember them in 1983...The Fixx still rock!!!
I remember my girlfriend at the time bought me/us tickets to see The Fixx here in Toronto - I was ecstatic! It was around 1983 I think and I also believe that Flock of Seagulls performed too. What a concert and boy the early 80's produced some amazing new wave bands! I still look back sometimes and think that people around my age (61) got to experience awesome rock bands in the 70's followed by fantastic new wave and punk bands in the 80's. It was a great time to be alive! ❤
One of the best live bands I've ever heard....one of the very few that sound just as good live (if not better) as their studio recordings.
It's so ironic that you wrote this, because I literally just finished exclaiming that to my son, and then I noticed your comment. It is so true, Cy Curnin just sounds bloody amazing. They are so underrated.
The Fixx will always hold a very dear place in my heart. Thank you for sharing!
🌹
Same here. Best times of my teenage years 🖤
an incredibly under rated guitarist. I applaud you sir. & thanks for getting me through the eighties.
Super-crisp guitar sound. Love it!
Jamie West-Oram...highly underrated.
@@CodeBleu724 what part of what he played is so difficult?
@@tc1817 difficulty isn’t the issue, although some of his riffs are deceptively tricky. It’s the fact that he comes up with unique guitar leads and rhythms that make you automatically know it’s the Fixx.
@@iggystardust9236 You need a dictionary. Look up "underrated"
Saw them last night in Jax, FL....still awesome!!!
That opening riff!!!!! These guys still rock live!!! Beautiful talent from these guys!!
Amazing voice, I love this group, and I wish to see them live...
This music speaks so much expression and creativity. It overflows with emotion. LOVE IT!!!! THANK YOU, GUYS for being awesome all these years!
The fixx rock and would love to see them in Grand rapids Michigan
Cy still sounds good after all these years.
Agree, he sounds fabulous as does the whole band.
He's 80
@@edwardwhite221 lol hes not 80. He's like 62 now
still sound good. an overlooked band
Ihr alle(all of your Band) seit ein Teil meinenes Lebens, und ich werde eure Musik hören solange ich lebe....i love her Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song released back in the '80's, then this is done in 2012; AMAZING how these lyrics are standing the test of time in 2020. Cy sounds as if he could have written them for the world yesterday!
Another excellent FIXX live performance!
I was 20 years old when this song came out on the radio while serving at fort Bragg, I was hooked on the fixx ever since....... In my shuttered room !!!! Perhaps my favorite classic song.
Love everything about 80's music , this is one of my top 10 all time favs .. They've still got it !!
Finally a great 80s band that hasn't degraded into 90% replacement members. Might have gotten older but they still sound fresh.
They are only 20% replacement members (bassist Dan Brown---was Chas. Barrett, then later Alf Agies before DB joined late in REACH THE BEACH)
....And Stephen King on drums👀😆
Agreed, I'll never see Journey or Chicago again
Like Guns N Roses! 😢
Just saw them this past November in Orlando and they are still putting on a killer show!
cool song. I like his voice.
I am getting older, and looked for this song here and was listening to it on the background while working and when he started to sing I had to look at it!!!...they sound great!!!! wow!!!
This is…
Amazing!
New studio production, after so many years, which Rivals the original!
What Artists, all!
One of the best songs they've made!
The Fixx music and compositions are one-of-a-kind. Never heard anything like it before or since. The Fender single coil guitar sound works perfectly in its own unique way into these songs. There's no convenient box to put the Fixx music inside of in order to describe it.
The best, congratulations, this group and music is part of the history of Música.
I can't believe these guys are still like always.................respect..i love old school music. no modern computer music will even compare to human talent from those days back then,,, i will always miss talents that made music from the heart. not on a fucking computer like nowadays.................THX
Can't love this enough.... thank you Cy!
ABSOLUTELY SUPERB
They are like the coolest band ever!!!!!!
I saw The Fixx open for J Geils Band a few summers ago. The Fixx killed it. They were fantastic. I was in awe and totally captivated by their show. The sounded absolutely great. You can tell they worked as a unit together for decades as their sound was that tight. Best 80's act out there it terms of sound and stage presence.
💐My favorite MTV videos and songs! True originals💝
And these guys are still around...amazing!!
I have always loved this song!
My fave of this group!
omg I AM SUDDENLY 15 AGAIN. badass!!!
Urbex Mermaid I know right
Great song fantastic band
Wonderful hearing this live!!!
wow what a performance sound so great. thanks for the upload
The were one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
This gets to my soul--so beautiful ! Love Cy's British accent and his outstanding singing.
was hoping to hear the explosive middle part of the song. Still, a great rendition. These guys are every bit as good as they were 40 years ago. As the 80's drifts quietly into oblivion, some of the musical gold that was created 4 decades ago is starting to rise to the top again. Thanks for posting.
They Still Sound Great!! Message in the song still is powerful!
Their music sounded futuristic when they first came out in the Eighties.
Now they just sound modern because everyone else has caught up. But they still sound great and I always enjoyed the guitar 🎸 sound and playing of Jamie West Oram! Very Underrated!
Listen to him here! Amazing!
What an amazing group!
AVON CALLING.... I use that now...I keep going back to this performance. So damn great- I really love this band-
This live version rocks the house!! LOVE The Fixx
the 80's without the Fixx wasn't the 80's... best band ever
Most underrated bands of all time! Even though they don’t give crazy antics on stage their performances are very entertaining.
Same lineup. Sound as fresh as 1983!
Cy is at the top of my vocal influences.
A beautiful emotive performance every time!
Excellent voice till this Day!! 💗
I've seen this band live multiple times and they are still great to this day. The smaller venues they play these days make for an awesome experience. If you have never seen them, Go! Their sound is electric and when they play classics like this or Built for the Future it brings out the goosebumps.
I remember they performed this song for the first time in Tel Aviv. Fantastic!
Great band, great voice. I saw them about 20 years ago. In the mid 80's I had several of their albums, lots of good songs.
Still one of my favorite bands.
Good to see these guys still on their game and sounding tight. Well done. Love this band. 👍
One of the great bands
Love his voice. Classic songs
This group is legend.
They are still Awesome! I wish I had seen them Live, they sound even better.
Love to The Fixx
Just like I remember.....that was awesome.
Bring back the 80s please 🖤
2080's on the way.
I could die with this song - please keep this beautiful friction!
Respect and nothing but for The Fixx...
I love The Fixx. Love this song. ♥️
Awesome 👍👍👍👍👍
That was just incredible.
The word "crafted" comes to mind. Such a strong song with diverse elements that match to create the wash of sounds each of which still remains distinct.
These guys were one of the greatest original sounds out of the 80's. So underrated.
Best version ever!!!!
I love The Fixx.
Best live show ever
Great band, miami vice, gta radio and great people bring me here again,.
Awesome band.
One of their best!!!
AWESOME!
j'adore ce titre et sa voix.
Funny this was recorded Aug. 7, 2012. It just so happens that it is now Aug . 7, 2022, exactly 10 years since The Fixx released "Beautiful Friction". OK, Get ready....The boy's have just released their latest album entitled "Every 5 Seconds". Enjoy everyone, and good health to you!!!
So underrated 💥🤘🏼👍🏼💯 such a great band.
Fantastic, always!
Outstanding performance and band. I miss the Fixx!
Awesome rendering of such a classic!
I’m a teen from from the 80s and each year for about a month I go back and make the rounds of the music from that time period. It grounds me to keep on the goals. I loved The Fixx. They sound excellent.
I really appreciate that guys vocal quality and talent. Thank you for this upload! ❤😎🎧
Love this band
Pure essence of simple but so powerful! I've watched this every day for weeks been playing music over 30 yrs this turns me on😅
What a great performance.
They still got it💙
This band has class
"Avon calling".... Hadn't heard that reference in decades. My Mother used to buy tons of stuff from Avon. Too much actually. That was another era though.
35 years later, I realize for the first time that this song is about encouraging people to rise up against the rotten foreign and domestic policies that divide our nations and us.
I think it’s even more relevant today. 🤯
