@3:33, oh-gawddamn! @9:38, hmm, let me sort this out Great vid, I truly enjoy listening to you share about your moto because I can see how much you enjoy it.Your R1 is food for your soul brother!
Great review!!! You will be end up with your bag mashed up against the tank with that seat angle. I am constantly pushing myself back in the seat to keep the damn bike outta my nuts. I love my 09 R1.... but whoever designed that seat was a sadistic bastard!!!!!
Now that is some funny shit man. That seat almost seems like it was design by a scorned woman. I got a 2016 and the seat is flatter, hard as hell, but at least I don't feel like I am fighting it all the time.
Just found your channel and I have to say, LOVE it! Going to go and get a R1 in a couple of months. I’m new to riding street bikes but have rode bikes in the past. I’m with you on your previous video, I know I’m going to eventually get an R1 and don’t want to waste money on moving from a 600cc to a liter bike. Anyway, any recommendations for a new rider? You have yourself a new subscriber sir! Safe riding!!!
Russell Carnes ...over the past weekend I crashed again. So both my crashes have been because of one thing... "TARGET FIXATION"...the act of not looking thru the corner and instead starring at something along side of the road and that is where the bike goes and thus u crash. So how do u stop it. Well until now, I didn't think I would ever do it again, after my first crash. However, your body/mind reverts back to what it knows best under stress. Here is my best advise and I beg u listen. Almost all solo crashes in turns are because of Target fixation regardless of speed, in general, because the bike can take the turn...but we don't believe it can so we panic. So before you ever start riding, start preparing ur mind and ur eyes to look through every turn. Have a plan for every turn. When u r in a car, whether driving or not, when u are watching UA-cam videos, begin training ur eyes and mind to look thru turns. I say have a plan because that is in fact what u have to do. For me, going forward, at every turn I now have a set routine and here it is....as I get close to the beginning of the turn I go on the breaks very, very lightly (Ken Hill says count to 5...1,2,3,4,5 as u gently apply the first 5% of breaking) to begin loading front wheel and to increase contact patch. Here is the most important part...the part that I have not been doing up unitl this mornings drive into work (Saturday was my crash). I self talk and tell myself to "look thru, look thru, look thru" and I keep saying that until I am safely thru the corner. U have to train your eyes to never look at the outside of the turn...it is the Crashers mistake. Please train your eyes to "look thru" on every single corner. Not doing this has cost me a broken neck and a very badly twisted ankle and twice a busted up bike. Also, be smart enough to ride at ur own pace. This weekend I tried to ride at my brother pace and it almost cost me my life. Train your eyes bro...it will save ur ass...La
Dont buy a 1k of the top.....buy a lower cc and learn to corner and ride good then move to a 1k, you will appreciate the bike more but either way enjoy
Thank you for watching man. I crashed my bike and am in the process of fixing her (and me). Its been about three months, but hopefully I will start making videos again here in the next few weeks or so.
I watched this video in depth. I just bought my dream bike about a month ago (2013 R1). Will you help me figure out what condition things are in. Overall what to look for. You seem very knowledgeable. Help please
I love this bike, if I could improve it the only thing I don't like is that it has very little engine braking and it coasts into corners when decelerating in first gear, and I have to use the brakes to hold the line. My previous R1 2008 model had perfect engine braking and I never had to touch the brakes. The gearing is also very tall in 1st gear, so I have slip the clutch a lot around residential streets and in carparks. I'm considering changing sprockets to - 1 front and getting a speedohealer.
You can add engine braking if you wanted by adjusting the cells in the off throttle area. That is a pretty easy fix, unless you have already removed all the fueling in those cells, effectively maxing her out engine braking wise.
I had an apex sled that has the R1 motor in it. For a sled the motor was weak but wow run 22 lbs of boost threw it what a beast and reliable best sled I ever owned. Just bought a gsxs 1000 so will see how that goes.🤷🏼♂️
Here is the deal my man...grind, work hard, save, plan, have a process, sacrifice some things that you have been spending money on (cloths, coffee, Videos games, nights out with you friends/girl) and get the exact bike that you want. Don't settle for anything less then the exact bike your want. WHY!! Because you will have proven to YOURSELF that when you set your mind on something your can achieve it, and believing in yourself and your own abilities to achieve is one of lives greatest rewards. Honestly, it is not about the bike (although the bike is a great reward). It is about accomplishment. Its about having a goal, a target, and achieving it and then moving on to the next achievement. Yassine...now go get yours....La
Thank you very much to commenting on the video. I hope at least one one of the clips made you laugh. I kinda like the baby clip (along with the bike clip). That little guy was wilding out to that noise.
In all honesty, I know nothing about the Honda except it doesn't sound like an R1...period. That is the tipping point for me. The RAV4, I would never own because the repair and maintenance time is ridiculous. My brother had to wait almost two months for a new tank because his had a very slight leak from what looked like a missing bolt. It was under warranty, but I don't want that headache. Plus it is smaller that the R1, as far as seat space...R1 just has more room. Hope that helps.
... all my extensive adjustments have been done to my STD mode so that is what I ride in. Although both my A mode and B mode have also been adjusted, they don't have as much work as my standard mode, which really feels perfect. I don't ride her that much now because I have a 2016 R1 and am getting ready to she her the 09.
Battery life is not bad. Shortly after I got the bike in 2016 I had to replace the battery and have had the same battery in her ever since...so 2+ years. Hope that helps. I also haven't rode her very much cuz of my 2016, but I keep her on and off a tender.
@@IamLaR1 that's helpful thanks for fast reply. What accessories do you have on your bike? E.g do you have a power commander, alarm, HID lights, etc or is the bike standard?
No... The engine breaking is a result of fuel being cut off to the cylinders when u roll off throttle. If the clutch is not engaged the engine breaking is not felt. Once the clutch is reengage, the effect of engine breaking will be felt.
Nice review 🤘🏽 Loving my 14 r1, engine braking is not even half of what my 08 cbr was though. Sit at a light for 20 seconds and those thighs be spicy 😂
I switched from a gsxr k4 (stolen from my garage :() to the same bike 09 yzf r1 and I hands down it is a beast for the corners and track. Everything else makes me cry! Heat and more heat, starts like a bike sitting in storage for years, what's a power wheelie? and the list goes on. It just leaves me wanting more. My gsxr would power wheelie in 2&3rd gear and my R1you can damn near dump the clutch in 1st gear A mode at 7k rpm and it won't pull the front tire up. Not that it needs to but it is fun to bust a wheelie! nice videos btw
Shawn ...who named u (haha if u knew me u would get that joke). I wish I would have spoken to you before you had your bike flashed by someone other than yourself. It sounds like u are frustrated with the mid-range power. That is a function of the cylinder fuel maping and the Throttle by wire maps. If you had the FlashTune software you could adjust the settings in those maps and get the power earlier...as u see fit. R u a "R1 Forum" member? If not u should join ( it is free) and look up TADs FlashTune threat. He has no problems power wheeling as is the same for other that are using his flash. I am not a very good rider and that feeling is unnerving for me, so I don't do it on purpose. The power is there Bro I promise. Thank you for commenting. May all your rides be right side up.

I have a Twobrothers Pro under the seat with the ability to play with the fuel tunings through my laptop and some mechanical fine tunes on the fly. I have tried the SBU tune and a few premade maps and all of them are okay on a track when I am keeping the bike super high on rpms but not much on the low. It will hit 0-6 in 2.5 seconds and never lift the wheel. Esentualy a good thing but I enjoy power wheelies! It use to hit 107mph in 1st gear at the red, I changed gearing and it is still just shy of 90 gps in 1st. The front shocks are hard and the rear set at hard and still nada! I am going to look into the flastune and see if it does more in terms of power and throttle position. If it gives me the power sooner I might be a happy camper! Thanks again for the info
