True, The pirate slayers are actually Barak Varr's privateers hired by other factions to fight real pirates and sea monsters
but thematically, slayers, rangers and gunpowder units are better than hammerers, ironbreakers and longbeards for this army
we need a dlc of sailors, pirates and sea monsters, the one we had in the second game is starting to become obsolete, it breaks the immersion and in general It's more frustrating than fun
@@Tukmo3 You know what breaks immersion most? Having sea battles at isles. both armies deploying their units on battlefield instead of fighting on sea in ships as Mannan intended.
@@Tukmo3Aranessa being a zombie pirate(VC) faction instead of a mortal pirate faction as well as both her and Noctiluss not being able to gather their fellow captains kind of hamstrung that entire DLC. Blame GW for not letting them use the entire dreadfleet cast.

My eyes bled when I saw how Elspeth was leveled
as a faction of so much guns, why would you even consider buffing melee infantry?
Seeing red line skills before getting all the good magic and Elspeth's personal skills was very painful to witness.
Not to mention rolling with 20 magic reserves. I know you can get unlucky with winds of magic in regions, but empire has channeling stance so there's no excuse. Elspeth with enough reserves can pretty much solo any army, it's riddiculous how OP she is with magic.
I actually do that so i can farm more gunnery scholl paper things. You go straight afther bretonia and fight the skaven there, i get almost 1k in each skaven fight by arround turn 15. Fighting the vampires for her is nit very productive since they dmare not a gunpowder faction, its riduculoud how much resource skaven and ogres give you.

I like the layout of this map because of the high ground choke point you can reach if you don’t provoke the enemy at the start, but of all the maps in the game this one (with this particular rogue army) causes the game to weirdly freeze on me after approximately 7.5 minutes, every single time. All units in all armies stop moving, sounds continue and I can move around the map but can’t click anything on screen. If I let it sit for another few minutes, the game either goes back to normal, allowing me the chance to finish the battle quickly or it CTDs. Means I either have to auto complete, throw tactics aside and rush to speed rout the enemy army or risk the crash.
Try to lower your settings? Also ssd ?
It must be graphic settings or mods causing this. I have never had this happen and have 1k hours and played wh3 before IE

had this happen two times in a row today no mods and apart from this my game is running completly fine
I have this with multiple maps, usually I think the problem is my computer getting too hot, at least that reduces these. Although it can be something else cause it happens usually on one bretonnia siege map too.
I had one of these rogue pirate armies attack a black ark full of half medusas and half hydras up near Karond Kar once and I wasn't even in force march. Needless to say, they were committing suicide. I got the "decisive victory" in autoresolve, but fought it manually anyways just for laughs.

I remember getting attacked by these guys when i did my recent bretonnia playthrough (first one) game was convinced i stood no chance. Was so proud of myself after 15-20 minutes of constant cav charging to finally win the fight with relatively low losses
Only in legends copy of the game can you have your lord casually hang out 5 feet from 2 units of thunderers with no repercussions @ 11:41 and onward lol
Literally though, I don't know why the AI in his game is so bad. If I went and stuck my lord in there like that their whole army is turning round and attacking them

Hey Legend, i dont know if you have done something like that before, but could you maybe do something like a level-up guide for lord for noobs? I find myself struggling with what to prioritize especially on spellcasting lords.
They will actually sometimes attack even doomstacks. I have used it to heal single entities in the past.
It's because doomstacks are not always that good in auto resolve. If the AI knows it can win in auto resolve they will always attack you, doesn't matter what the make up of your army is
@@vargknight it is a bit more complicated: calculation on campaign map is not always identical to pre-battle screen.
I mean, this is basically a dwarf endgame army. Which is good against most things on autoresolve, because its dwarfs. I can see why it would attack armies that all other pirates would avoid.
Vcoast and Dark elves also have endgame pirates, but their autoresolve chances are way worse.

I remember your Khatep migration campaign in WH2 and these pirates attacked a couple of your armies at the end turn, and absolutely wiped your sphinx stack through a decisive victory auto resolve.

oh I remember playing a multiplayer campaign when another player got attacked by this stack... it was so cool controlling this AI army, he got no chance and his legendary lord was put back to sleep xD

If I ever get the chance to do multiplayer, I would love to do this with any Rouge Army (particularly Morrslieb's Howlers)
Sartosa. It is very rare to play as rogue army in multiplayer, people usually know that u should not be in their movement range. Fucking up someone else's expansion early on is worthless
Ending your turn even with a weak army within their movement zone doesn't guarantee an attack. It is only 100% if you are in the direction they are going to move into, so learning the "patrol routes" of the rogue pirates is useful. However, if you do park something in forced march/full sail within their movement range, be prepared to face the scourge of the seven seas.
this is the worst lvl15 Elpeth ive seen, she can be a magical juggernaut by lvl15, by lvl 16 you should have the scythe, the dragon obviously and spam 6 cost purple suns, then get the Fate of Bjuna to kill the cavalry trying to flank your gunners

But what’s really stupid is if you end your turn in their zone with a doom stack that they can’t handle, they don’t attack you, but they also declare war with you anyway, even without officially declaring war because they aren’t a real faction… really dumb.

I enjoy fighting dwarves (or any slow enemy) and running circles around them, fast moving units is my jam. This video was great, this battle would have been a lot of fun.
Are we sure she wasn't confederate like that? It is the kind of army and build the ai would do... Nope the faction is Wissenland & Nuln.

I sent a bug report to CA about a bug with these pirates. I tried it multiple times and it always freezes as soon as Buckthorn routs, while playing as skarbrand. Anyone else?.

before it counted the unit as only 4 entities, the artilleries, but, as soon as they went into combat mode, it changed into counting only the artillerists and not the artilleries

That's because the crew got off of the arti pieces. When the crew is attached to the artillery piece, they show a shared HP pool above them. The arti pieces got badly damaged, so their shared HP pool was lower than what the crew HP pool would be alone. The crew got off of the artillery pieces in this case, so the HP bar changed to the crew HP bar only, which was in a better condition overall. I don't know if this explanation is good enough, but that unit didn't heal, it just showed the crew HP only after the artillery pieces got destroyed.

I remembered I fight this army with my Clan Skyre army. I though it is easy, and I did win. The cost of my lord death, 60% army died and for some reason my artillery is safe.

How DOES one want to build Elspeth to make her a real monster? I'm still learning quite a bit even after so many hours - is it like a rule of thumb that a caster lord should beeline down their spells first and foremost? Also,why was their spell choice so bad? I welcome advice on this, I wanna improve and struggle less!
I don't have Elspeth but if she's like other caster LLs she'll have a unique skill that massively drops one of her spell costs (looking at other comments it seems it's purple sun and/or bjuna), so ideally you'd build for that first since being able to punch way above the odds is generally ideal.
Again don't know Elspeth's skills but life leeching is one of the best passives in the game, not taking it is pretty bad. Only downsides are typically being attached to a lore of death caster and not actually doing anything in fights where you don't spend your base winds pools anyway.
There are exceptions, but most wizards should focus damage spells (and especially vortex spells) over debuff spells...
Especially in higher difficulty, a debuff to leadership is not going to route anything except an already nearly broken foe, so it's almost the least useful spell you could take.
As for lords- yes, if you want to optimize caster lords you should focus their spellcasting before anything else, until you get their unique lines (for LLs); the LL unique lines are almost always the best bang for your buck with uber-strong bonuses, faction-wide and unique bonuses.
In tww2 i dreaded fighting them as vamp coast. Not a lot of armies could inflict suffitient damage on them

As Rouge Pirates are unironically my favorite factions in the game (I constantly theorycraft them vs. all kinds of other armies, both in-game and player-made), I am pleased you gave one of them their proper respect and spotlight; I am NOT cool with the vid title, though--I encourage EVERYONE to run into them as much as possible during their play
They don't attack any Ports and are at sea all day--they need the money & resources...YOUR money & resources
(Personal anecdote: I try to keep all Pirates alive as long as possible during play and, as Skrag, trying to skirt around the Buccaneers when heading south is a real nuisance)
Most of the rogue pirate factions are weak AF; but the Skaven and Dwarf ones are elite. The Dark Elf ones are pretty strong too.

He mentions that they attack if they think they can win. Which would be your not 100% value. They will attack in their area.

I hope modded games are allowed eventually. TW3 base still has a year or more steam left in it. But the Jurassic Dinosaur mod is just amazing! I hope grimhammer is fun too when I get around to playing it.
Nothing against this player at all, but seeing them put a point in on both mounts is the thing that I was like, WHY? at XD
I assume they're a newer player or are new to playing as this faction judging by how they levelled up, mainly because that's how I used to play when I first started too
I haven't played Elsbeth yet, but I'm pretty sure you can't put points to mounts anymore...

Honestly main reason I stopped playin gthis game is because lords are just too fuking powerful. Its lowkey not as fun as an actual total war game where strategy wins the game instead of which faction has the biggest and baddest 1 man army to slap everything.
