*Update* 6-26-24. Ok so I finally got around to testing this theory out that I describe in the comment here. Turns out I am flat wrong and Banner of Eternal Flame does actually give flaming attacks to all ranged units affected by the banner buff. This not only works on enemy units, but friendly units that are hit by friendly fire splash attacks or stray ranged shots etc. Everything caught in the fire of these banner fire buffed ammo attacks will take the flaming debuff affecting their healing rate by -50%. Sorry for anyone I have mislead by this comment before testing further! The ui isn't lying as far as my testing has shown so far.

what I just found out recently is that they increased the range on the trollhammer torpedos from (I think) 90 to 170 with the thrones of decay patch, really pleasant change, makes them so much more useable.
Legendoftotalwar I have a question. I play medieval total war 2 and I have faced a huge problem horse archers I don’t know how to defeat them, So if you have any tips I’d like you to tell me. Thank you
long ranged foot archers are usually a good counter when paired with high armor infantry. As England, for example, retinue longbowmen with armored swordsmen is the classic combination, with just under half the army being longbowmen for maximum damage.
CA: We've turned down melee cheats on harder difficulties, making things more balanced Also CA: Missile units will still beat cavalry and single entities in melee
Honestly I much prefer when the player's army is a horrific mishmash of random units than a doomstack I've been seeing ever since WHII. Is it actually impossible to win in higher difficulties without unit spam?
In this case, the main army being all Shadow Warriors is more because he's playing the Nagarythe faction, which has a whole bunch of bonuses for them, plus they have a particular playstyle (fluid ambush/kiting/strike-and-fade) that benefits (and is much easier to manage) when all units have some of the same traits and speeds. Plus Shadow Warriors are versatile enough to handle a wide variety of army comps, so it's okay to be mono-unit, compared to many other spam doomstacks. I do see the appeal of most other mono-unit doomstacks, but most aren't as flexible and can't face as wide a range of opponents and map conditions, and/or are too expensive or impractical to recruit until well into the game when it doesn't matter too much about having a versatile, cost-effective army, and you can just power through many of your weaknesses.
Well, trollhammer torpedoes might be my favorite dawi unit. Since I did the Malakaï campaign and kill all 4 of the special daemons armies from the Khorne adventure, using an army with 4 torpedo units, a cannon and dwarf warriors only, I found how freaking powerful those are, especially againsst big deamons. Also in Vermintide using the trollhammer torpedo SLAPS it feels so good
Just take any dwarf faction and confed Grombrindal, some guys might have irondrake stacks ready even for him to command, like thorgrim had made for me.

Genuinely curious, why shadow warriors over shadow walkers? The later have way better stats, albeit smaller number of entities. They also cost about the same to upkeep. Is there something I'm missing?
I'm not the submitter of the campaign, but missile units with more entities are usually better at shooting at enemy infantry. 100 arrows are better than 80 arrows, especially if the infantry models' health is small enough that it probably won't make a difference how many arrows kill. Having more bows to shoot would be better at burst damage and keeping infantry from closing the distance.
@keilanl1784 True, more models means more ammo and arrow volume. That said, I do like the versatility of the walkers, especially with poison and bonus vs infantry on their melee. Let's them fight pretty well even after their ammo is gone.
Legend mentioned that he'd "miscast from this range" did he mean place the spell wrong or do you havd higher miscast the longer away the spell is cast? Cause if its the latter then ive never known in my 2k hours of TWW
Correct me if wrong but my understanding is if you overcast sometimes depending on the spell you get longer range however it comes with a chance of miscast.

Slightly off topic for this particular video, but has anyone else noticed in their campaigns that minor factions aren't really getting eliminated or confederated? I mean, I'm at turn 40/50 as Karl Franz (VH/VH) and as far as I can tell all of the brettonia and wood elf factions are still around. And not only that, but Vlad got wrecked by Elspeth, allowing me to finish him off relatively easily. Kemmler never had more than 2 settlements, and most empire factions survived. Only now the skaeling are showing up as a threat, and they only took out Nordland. Then it seems they are just moving back and forth between two cities, seemingly caused by Middenheim going after a city and then constantly retreating when they move. It feels like most of the AI is just kinda dicking around instead of consolidating power in any way. I haven't really seen that happen before, so I'm wondering if it's just a fluke, or if anyone else has been experiencing that?
It's probably just RNG. I've played two Elspeth campaigns with drastically different events taking place. In the first campaign, Malakai, Katarina and Kostaltin tag-teamed Throt and Norsca making the northern empire provinces completely safe from Chaos, while in the second campaign they got destroyed long before I even got to that area of the map. I've also had enemies and allies confederate, Cathay, Dark Elves, et alia.
@@colbunkmust Can second this. One campaign the Ice Court, Kostaltyn and Malakai got control of the North by turn 60, another campaign they got rolled by Chaos and Wulfric. Bretonia usually unites under Couronne after like 30 turns in my campaigns, but the Wood Elves never seem to get confederated or wiped out before I can get to them. Morathi and maybe Malekith are the only two LL's that always end up dominating late game for me (Druchii supremacy is real and AI cannot deal with it).
I forgot to mention Repanse. I don't know why or how, but no matter what I do or don't do she always dominates the desert. Apart from that I have seen the AI do different things on Legendary campaign diff, but sometimes they do just dick around.
I think what’s actually happening is that it’s just easier to expand much faster than it used to be, especially compared to WH2. I don’t think the AI is any slower against other AI factions, you’re just much faster, so it feels like they’re slower. This is what I’ve noticed anyway. It feels difficult for the first 30-40 turns and then it’s a steamroll, whereas back in WH2 especially it was maybe 80-100 turns before steamroll.
If you are finding that the campaign is too easy because of this, I would heavily recommend the Unnatural Selection mod. This mod allows you to selectively buff or nerf certain factions’ performance against other AI factions. So if you really want a tough campaign as Franz, you could give huge buffs to Vlad, Kemmler, Festus, etc. The buffs/nerfs are specifically to their autoresolve performance against other AI factions. They do not receive any campaign buffs/nerfs or battle cheats against you, but by the time you reach a faction you’ve given a large buff to, they will have conquered a TON of territory and will put up a good fight. You can also choose to simply wipe out any faction you want on turn 1. So if you’re a real masochist, you could destroy every elector count at the start and then work towards reviving all of them.
That first 30 seconds of the battle of Legend trying to hastily, underhandedly explain he's honestly good at total war battles and that this was a total fluke. 😭
Fire resistance is such a flawed stat, kind of like magic resistance was until ttw3. It's supposed to be a buff, but against some enemies you end up nerfing yourself to hell.

And this is the sight that players should get use to see from now on I mean disasters caused by the Dwarfs And I still insist on the fact that the Dwarfs are ridiculously OP and need an immediate nerf or better to say balance patch
They’re one of the easiest races to counter. I could see some nerfs to regular gyrocopters (specifically the ammo count), thunderbarges, grapeshot cannons, and maybe some of the characters (looking at you Ungrim), but beyond that they’re fine. Also, out of those, the *only* thing the AI is halfway decent at using is the characters, so it’s not that big of a deal. They 100-0 their own thunderbarges with the speed ability. They stop shooting with gyros after using the bombs. They make it easy to kill cannons before they can get into grapeshot range. Only the characters are difficult.
Or they've been underwhelming for ages, and the sudden balance makes them seem OP. Still more disaster battles sent in vs. wood elves and Grimgor. Also, none of the units in Grombrindals army were the OP ones from the DLC. So that argument doesn't really follow.
I see 80 shadow warriors, who is archers, but they have "warriors" in title and warriors in stats - they pretty good in pure melee! And then see 28 irondrakes, which have pathetic 20 melee attack and defence, blegh... So what solution for me? Exceed some asur martial arts supremacy and cut that silly beards from shorties by elven swords, thanks for woody map ;3
This franchise has fallen to abysmal depths. These games are quite literally pay to win now - and not cheap P2W either. Every update if you don't buy the DLC you're forced to sit there and suffer as the AI recruits the new OP power creep units. For contrast, although Paradox DLC is expensive they at least don't shove it in your face - the AI gets only the enabled units, and in a multiplayer campaign EVERYONE has access to the host's DLC. To say nothing of multiplayer battles, where it's even clearer. When you add something as strong as a thunderbarge to multiplayer and gate it behind a $9 paywall, I don't see how you escape the pay to win allegations. I suppose they don't - they just think it's ok. And apparently it is ok, because you all keep buying it. This company is a dumpster fire and if their games weren't so unique they'd have been run out of business years ago. I have nothing good to say about them at all.

Of course it's possible. Guess many players, myself included, recruit balanced armies playing on legendary.

Homie it's like probably his 2nd or 3rd most popular faction next to Skaven and Empire. 😂
