    Thank you for this great little how to. I had a nightmare with a Vertex Mismatch Error with TransPose master, and I was able to use a workaround incorporating this method to solve my problem and transfer symmetrical detail onto a posed model

    Just to clarify.
    1) You first create your sculpt in a regular fashion, from low to high res.
    2) Once your high res sculpt is finished, you create a morph target (for backup) and create a layer which captures all the high detail sculping you've done.
    3) You now drop to the lower subdivision, export the low poly sculpt and pose it.
    3) You then import the low res sculpt over the high res sculpt, replacing it in the process.
    4) Now that the detail of the model was previously captured in the layers tab (in step 2), you increase the subdivisions of the low res sculpt and the layers come back into action. Then by magic, the model now has the same details sculpted in the new pose.
    Sounds good to me.

    Hello, thank you. Would you mind doing a more elaborate tutorial on this for newbies? I have no idea how to do some of the steps involved, but this is exactly what I need for my art. Thank you so much for your time!

    This is probably the Holy Grail of ZBrush tips man!! Omg I can't believe what I'm seeing! Thank you so much! P.S.
    I would change the title of the video though... "Transfer Details to a Posed Mesh" or something like this :)

    nice but if I already turned of , or deleted the lower resolution in sub levels when I made the modeling of the first unposed model I can't tranfer later the details to the low posed polymesh right ?

    How do I transfer the detail of more than one subtool?
    I mean, I have my model and the clothing as different subtool.

    Does somebody knows if some process affects the mesh for this technique: I have two meshes of a hand model one posed and the other "T-Posed" and want to perform this mesh switching, but it just won't work with this particular hands, I have tried with some other simple meshes that I've created just for experimenting with, and works perfect, even without having to create a layer, but only lowering the Res to the base level and importing the posed one.....lastly.....I'am sure that both meshes at their lowest level have the same amount of points and polycount, that meas most likely the same topology, Only thing I did that could affect this was a mirror on X axis that I made, but of course I mirrored to the correct side before performing the trick. and still doesn't work, any ideas??.

    is this a good way to design in t-pose and then submit design iterations in "posed" mode? seems like it is

    Is there any way to transfer details between meshes with different topology / vertex count? I sculpted a bust in Zbrush, but now I have a full-body model that I'd like to transfer the details of that bust over to. Cheers.

      Alex using projection located in the sub tool menu. Make sure you have selected he mesh you want to transfer details into and your reference mesh is visible (nothing wodę but these two). Go to project, press it, subs your mesh and so on until you're happy with projection

    Theres some way to modeling in your symetrical model while transfering the details in real time to your posed model?? I'm trying to aproximate a model from a photo, but the photo is not an ortographic projection....

  • @rumblespicer

    When I import the model, with layer active and matched poly count, it still remove the subdivision levels. Is there a solution for this?

    • @rumblespicer
      @rumblespicer 4 роки тому

      So I guess if you made small adjustments to the UVs, importing that model to the subtool with the old UV set up can remove the levels. Solution was to re-project the old model onto the new one.

  • @EduardoRodrigues-zp5ps
    @EduardoRodrigues-zp5ps 2 роки тому

    How to do the same, but with Udims? When Flattening the UV's with the SubDivision Levels frozen, it works. Soon as I unfreeze the subdivisions, the UV's disappear...

    Does not work for me. It simply deletes the layer and the subdivision levels when it replaces the mesh.

      It's been 10 months but in case someone else wonders. It doesn't work with Layers for me either since I have to have to highest subdiv active but you can do it like this:
      save base model in low res, export and then pose it
      go to highres model, switch to lowest subdiv, import posed low res and the go back to the highest subdiv again. details should all be there without any problem.

    This is probably the old school way of doing this? You now have Tpose save and load which seems to do the same thing only with complete clothed meshes etc.

    Wait, isn't that trick totally useless? If it's gotta be the same model, with same subdivs, same counts, then why not just pose your detailed mesh in lower division? It's actually the same thing, no?
