You are FIRST, congratulations you get a free Mercedes Benz S class.
My brother just got a 94 Celica himself and loves it, ST in red, he wants a GT though
I wish I had a Celica to
My water pump broke on me never ran hot got it fixed and now all of a sudden my car turns over but no crank. Can you help me
Years ago I drove a tow truck always had starring spray fluid and a can of WD40 to use on a Diesel engine
Gotta drive the car every now and then! Can’t keep it a garage Queen forever.
Garage Queen is generally known as a low mile valuable collector vehicle worth big money. When one spends 6 to 7 figures on a vehicle, they tend to maintain them. In this case I would tend to use the word Beater.
@@Mark-lq3sb my second car is kinda of a garage Queen but not really. Drive between 100-150 miles a week on it. 2008 Lexus IS250. It’s built for daily but she’s only driven a few days of the week. Maybe that car has retained its value because of the fact I don’t put many miles on it. Currently has 121k miles on it.
@@Mark-lq3sb why would u garage queen a car u love when ur gonna die ?? Like whats the point use it and take care of it good but inside a garage ?? Naw u not living life unless u have no money then understandable
I hear ya. I have an '09 pickup with just over 21,000 miles on it. Can still smell the leather.

Sounds like a nice car and they seem to last forever with a little maintenance. Like Scotty says, 100k, it's not even broken-in yet, lol!
don't forget to put cap back on the starting fluid or might get really high or sick and crash 🤣
Don't forget to annually check a jump box to make sure it has good power and charge otherwise it's just as useless as the battery
I listened to Scotty & bought a Gooloo 4000A jump starter. The first day I put it in the car, I had to use it. (Bought a new battery that day).
Charging it every 3 months is better/ recommended.
dont leave a can of starting fluid in your car in very hot places
Or very cold places. Then it won't spray out and you throw it away and get a new one
It's better to have someone turn the key while spraying the starting fluid. Of course when the event comes you probably won't have second set of hands to do that.
Who has friends I re done my trailer lights today and put a brick on the brake so I could walk around to check if they where working.
Today's video: Have this in your trunk in case you need it
Tomorrow's video: People have too much stuff in their trunk!
Let my dirt bike sit wouldn’t start so I could show off in front of my fiancé, I drained the gas put some fresh gas started 2nd kick
Yep. Keeping fresh gas in it is a good idea also.
king
We have a product in Australia to help start an engine with the wonderful name of "Start Ya Bastard".
I keep my garage Queens on battery tenders.
I only drive into town once a week for supplies, in my 91 Subaru, on my return to the cabin, I disconnect the battery until the next weekly run.
Scotty is a national treasure!
Thanks alot mister , you helped me save alot of money and I got my own car started super thank you again sir.
I have one of those jump boxes (audew ) it never worked for me .
I let my '97 Outback sit too long & went to start it recently, got no start / lights / clicking, nothing. One of the rear tires went 1/2 way flat too. Of course it is old w/ 211k on the clock, like me. I'm old w/ alot of miles on my clock & there are days when I just can't start & parts of me are flat. 😲😲😲
My car doesn't sit he prefers to stand.
Make sure that you hook up the jumper cables properly.
Yea, I was surprised to see Scotty hook the black to the battery instead of the frame…
If you know that car is going to sit for awhile, detach the battery terminals and put a folded polyester/synthetic fiber towel underneath/surrounding the battery. Insulates the battery better and no leeching computers.
Thnx
Hi Scotty, I love your videos and thank you for sharing your knowledge!
We recently bought a 2014 Lexus ISC with about 60k miles for our home in South Carolina. However, due to our travel schedule, the car often sits at the airport parking lot for 4 to 6 weeks at a time, or it remains parked at our home for longer period of time.
I followed your advice from one of your videos and purchased the Autowit Super Capacitor Jump Starter that sits in the car.
Is there's anything else I should be doing to maintain the car during these extended periods of inactivity. Thank you for your guidance.❤️
And if that doesn't do it you aren't sparking. In the case of my 90 dodge Dakota I replaced the coil to solve that problem. And since I was at it I replaced the old corroded cap and rotor, and the spark plugs and wires
And air filter (squirrel nest)
Love your channel! 👍🏻
Vital information 👌🏾.
Old cars without computer are better
my 93 ranger has a computer that uses obd1 its super dumb and causes problems and needs replacement 🤦♂️
I owned a Celica just like the one you have. I miss it..
Jumpncarry is good jump box it saved me a lot of time
Which do you recommend??
@@valeriehancotte-galan4790 it takes maybe 6 hours to charge but can last 3 plus months without charging. I had it since 2018. Instructions are on the back of device how to use as well as a paper manual.
JUMP N CARRY CLORE 500 PEAK AMP 12 VOLT LITHIUM JUMP STARTER JNC311
I left an old 2005 c class sitting for a year while i sat in a semi truck. , luckily, i disconnected the negative battery cable before i left and left it with barely any gas at all in tank..I came home, I added fresh gas with some fuel injecor cleaner and it started relatively easy. only problem was the blower fan seized and the brakes became rusted and squishy. I guess i got lucky. . oh, and a bunch of srs, abs warnings became lit. but its an old mercedes.
What if it’s no-crank/no-start after sitting for two years 😅
I got same exact problem I got it to crank and the belt broke not sure if there's a pulley frozen or if belt was just bad been sitting about 3 maybe even 4 years now cause of a dead battery cause of the cold and not being driven
@@wolfpacak47 - belt prolly had dry rot.
I can start it by manually stimulating the starters exciter. But the key ignition won’t send the signal for some reason. Car was running perfectly before so doesn’t make sense to me.
Probably bad starter
Or there could have been mice/ squirrels living somewhere and ate a wire or something 😪
Makes me cringe to leave my cars/trucks dormant for a year or so. But since I work overseas most of the time the only choice is to sell them or put Fuel Stabilizer in the tank and use a battery tender. Keep them clean is the other thing I do. Not good for my 2005 Duramax, (40,000 miles) I'll probably need to change the water pump someday.
That battery to jump your car will lose its charger in about 6 months or so... so when you end up needing it it won't do a thing..... jumper cables always work as long as you have the second vehicle to jump off... should keep a gas can in there as well but remember to switch out the gas here and there say every 3 months or so.....
Even the wife needs to be crank up from time to time. 🤣👍
My car is a stick with a push-button start. How do I push start it in second gear like I could with the key-start? No one has been able to answer my question.
Scotty. You should drive the Celica to RI.
I keep a trickle charger on a vehicle I rarely drive. Starts right up everytime.
Same
Hey Scotty when jumpstarting a car since you’re grounded to the frame? And isn’t it true that you should never jumpstart a vehicle off of your vehicle?
What jump starter do you recommend?
Name brands don't make a hoot check out the amp hours of the battery
I use the viking battery pack from Harbor Freight almost 2 years and its saved me already twice just make sure you charge it every 3 months to keep the battery topped off. Even after jumpstarting it still reads 100% battery life. Its nice not having to ask random people for a jump and just do it yourself in an instant.
Carb cleaner or a few drops of gasoline are better. Starting fluid has a lot of ether which is bad for rubber and plastics, which the other two are too, but starting fluid can be bad for your cylinder liners
unless mice get at wires and years of corosion
Install door handle on Ford focus( drivers side 2005)
Ohhhhh Scotty! Dev your engine
mine is clicking once and the lights are trying to come on on the dash, radio will come on but the car still wont start; was told i need a new starter (battery is new installed 2021)
might be a wiring issue or a bad alternator
Thats why I have aaa, they warrantee the batteries that they sell and install right in your garage….keep your receipt with your owners card along with the insurance card…….ms~~~
You should plug in your car battery to an CTEK charger to keep your battery healthy.
change wiper fluid with every transmission flush
What is a “starting fluid”??
It was ether. In biology, they also used it to knock out the fruit flies for study.
Yea sure throw a pressurized spray can in my trunk in the middle of summer where it gets 120°F+
What else does Scotty have in the trunk?
Junk... ;)
Just leaving the jump box in the car will cause IT to drain dead over time. AND leaving a can of super explosive, flammable starting fluid in a car that can get up to 160 degrees in the summer isn't a good idea either.
Hey Scotty got a question if you don't mind answering..I have a 2011 mustang GT with 96k miles to that I don't drive anymore because I'm saving it for my kid when he turns 16.i start it every week for 5 mins and turn it off.what would you recommend I can do to keep it in best condition until his 16 the birthday .6 years from now lol
Drain the fluids and let it run the highways for an hour or so. Fluids collect at the bottom and can build up, so gotta make sure to drain as much of it out ever so often to make sure it runs as it should
If you only start a vehicle and do not drive it, make sure you let it get to operating temp. When the thermostat opens and the fan kicks on that is generally hot enough to be considered operating temp. May take up to 20 to 30 minutes.
@@mechatigrex2335
"Drain the fluids" What the hell are you talking about? Why on earth would you drain necessary fluids? I sure in the hell hope you mean change oil then drive. If you're talking about water/antifreeze in the oil pan generally speaking, oil/water/antifreeze don't mix well, so more than likely the water/antifreeze will float on top of the oil.
Well, yeah, drain and fill. Mostly talking about the oil.
I let mine sit for 2yrs. 78 Merc 400. Only thing I had to do to it, change the starter Solenoid. Grandfather had on out of a 53 Merc that worked. BUT Should have changed out the Trans Fluid. While driving it from Minn to Miss, the trans Fluid got thick and started burning. Smoke just a rolling out the exhaust. So yeah, Change the Fluids and Filters.
He had a 78 Dodge Valarie and would let it sit for months/years on end ( vacation or when family came to visit car ) but would start it from time to time, let it run for a good half hour and check all fluids, change them and filters before a trip if they needed it or not. And kept the Battery on a Maintainer.
Either sell it or grow a pair and drive every now and then. No need to let it waste away costing you more money in the end anyway.
Too much of that ether can have untoward effects.
And buy an AGM BATTERY-it's WORTH THE EXTRA DOUGH.
I don't think they make one for my vehicles. EDIT: looks like someone (Odyssey) does make one for my vehicles. They're not giving them away! Next time I need a battery I'll consider getting one. I hope they're worth the money.
James. I bought one for my car a few months ago . That is the first one I ever bought .
What a guy! 😘
Might not wanna put the can of high pressure carcinogen in the car in the summer unless it’s about 2/3 empty. Just sayin……..
The rubber can crack no? Common it is fuel pump?
hey scotty why does my truck die every other day? iput a brandnew battery and a alternator? any idea why?
do you have an aftermarket radio or speakers? my truck does the same and sparks when you connect the terminal and it was my aftermarket radio
@@uncrustable9923 yes ihave aftermarket radio but mine turns off tho, does it still drain power?
@@joesyoutubepage mine did too, but i don't know why there's just a draw/battery drain if a wire is wrong or something
@@uncrustable9923 iwill have to either test to see if a wire has power or take to a sounds audio place
@@joesyoutubepage 👍
That jump boxing needs to be charged at least once every 2 weeks
Don't wanna wear out my suspension with all that weight
Not a good idea to leave ether tossed in the vehicle without a cap.
Intellegence is a choice.
The only thing with that is sometimes when the car is dead u cant get in the car or trunk.
Sounds like a bad design. There should be a key hole or at least a manual lever inside.
Alot of modern day cars dont have key holes especially for the trunk. As long as there's enough juice to use the key fob should be good. Not always tho.
@@doZerBoy should be a manual cable release near driver seat, at least.
@@AlexO110 but what if u cant get in the car? Just sayin.. there are certain circumstances.
@@doZerBoy there should be a keyhole in the car door. If there isn't then it's a bad design. You should be able to enter the car without electricity as a general rule.
...or you could but a 94 Toyota Celica
I invented the battery powered rotary engine car in 1978
Why should you buy Toyota?
or dead fuel pump
Or bad crankshaft position sensor
Could be manu things lol, but fuel pumps tend to go out while driving, as happened to my e46 bmw
So im fucked
