Also you forgot to mention that sometimes these can cause shocks, burns, bruising, skin irritation, and pain associated with the use of some of these devices.

Just a yes or a no would do. Takes 24mins to get that answer.

I usually don't write negative reviews. I just go to the next; however, you should at least talk to someone who has a decent device.
    You sir, wasted my time.

First off, you're mincing words. EMS is one facet of this tech. I KNOW this because you cited RS as if it was EMS, neglecting FEC, and NMES, to name a few. These are similar to EMS, but they aren't. EMsculpting is also a medical practice, PROVEN to work. EMS and RS use different frequencies, RS uses a higher frequency that does effect strength. EMS uses a lower frequency that effects endurance. This stuff is confusing, I know, there's 6 acronyms I know of, all describing pretty much the same technology, but they have different goals, use diffent frequencies, and have diffent effects on the body, from releasing natural pain killers to fully engaging muscle fibers, increasing blood flow, aiding recover, remaking neural pathways, preventing muscle atrophy......those benefits come from different flavors of the technology, using different acronyms to describe them, because, guess what, they're different. They all aren't EMS. Saying they are is BS. They use the same principal, but they all aren't the same. It's like just using the word "lifting" for all of the very different ways one can lift. " "Lifting" is supposed to increase trapezoidal strength, that's what it is and what it's for, but only some of the studies support that lifting actually does support trapezoidal strength." That's you. That is what you're doing here. I get it, it's confusing, there is no umbrella term for all of the different facets of this tech, like there is for "lifting". You could do a bit more research into the topic before you call all of it EMS. EMS is a specific thing, like squatting or bench press, it's used to describe something very specific. EMS is great for keeping muscle mass when injured. EMS, not so good for strength or recovery. Squatting, good for leg strength, not so good for trapezoidal or arm strength.

I'm so glad you pointed this out. I never wouldve known and also screw watching a 24 minute video with platonic audio for a yes or a no

omg not to be another one of these people, but can you help me too? lol
i struggle a lot with building/maintaining muscle, especially *visible* muscle, because of my joint problems (ehlers danlos syndrome or marfans syndrome, not sure which one yet). i can’t do a lot of impact exercises, heavy weights, or flexibility-related things. my PT has told me to basically only do body weight exercises or swimming. i’m not even supposed to do yoga.
the disorder is likely the reason i look so skinny too, even though i’m much stronger than i look.
so i’m looking for: strength (to aid in joint stability) and *visible* gains.
i plan to use the machine while i do my simple body-weight exercises at home. i really like the idea of using the TENS feature for pain relief too! (that’s actually what i was originally looking for, before i learned they can build muscle as well!)
i think i’m kind of the perfect candidate for EMS but i don’t know where to start!
what type would you suggest i try?

This guy likes the sound of his voice, way too much - TL/DR
    1 Doesn't boost muscle growth
2 Studies are conflicted - some say slight strength gains others say none
3 Doesn't improve recovery - Use walking (anything that increases blood flow improves recovery)

What if your legs are injured? what do you do for active recovery then? Maybe EMS is just useless over all and perhaps there's a placebo effect.

    Hey Mike,
I was curious to hear about your opinion on percussive therapy and the use of a Thereagun or Hyperice Hypervolt device? To me it seems overhyped and overpriced and would probably be better off with the elastic band, foam roller, and lacrosse ball that you recommend.

Electrical stim treatment is useless for muscular strength and growth IMO. However, they are invaluable for therapy and I would argue have some value when it comes to recovery. Very useful and enjoyable video.

Have you considered that it acts stimulating the neural paths and in actual training increases muscle activation?. Perhaps by itself does not grow muscle, but in conjunction with exercise it is another story

EMS has long been used for theraputic rehab for years now. The concept of strength based EMS has been researched significantly in Germany by Miha Bodytec and the gluckerberg Colleg. I myself have a EMS facility and it does have strength increases over conventional training aswell. The application of the training will be subject to goals and what you would like to achieve with EMS training. Bodybuilding will not be beneficial on EMS but will give you a increase in strength. Remember with EMS it stimulates your CNS directly so your muscles does not know the difference between EMS and conventional training. The Hitt training we over has shown a significant increase in muscular output and increases in Endurance.
EMS is not new its a old technology that have been reworked to create a neurological adaptation to train and build neurological pathways to assist in training.
The increases in hypertrophy is minimal with researched based EMS training and the methodology bases on different platforms. We have doctors training with us with a significant increase in bone density and does assist with arthritis and pain management.

You couldn’t be more wrong. You must be a boomer who thinks that something works only if it’s excruciatingly painful. That’s a fallacy. I have been unable to hit the gym for months and I was losing all of my gains, and electro stimulation definitely worked for me.

    Hi Mike
I've recently started your rep range and lifting 80% of my 1 rep max. But I find it hard to get a good pump and not getting much muscle soreness the next day. Dose this matter or I'm I recruiting other muscels to lift the weight as it's much heavier than I am used to trying with. In the past using heavy weights and compound movement gave me this results. I have stop doing them as a result. I just don't feel that I have fatigued the muscle enough. Could you explain is this normal or do I need to have the doms the next day to build muscle.

So, I recently bought a cheap belt for myself. I've not bought it for "huge" gains, but rather as a calorie burner and minor gains. I've got a bad back so I can't do traditional situps and have a hard time maintaining good core excersises without pain. Is this something you think could possibly help long term?
