For me it's when they censor out stuff kids see a lot of in life, an example yugioh when they censored the guns out but yet they let American cartoons show guns, violence, and skimpy outfits but get on the case of Japan for showing a skirt that might be a bit too short for the character
In anime, 4Kids swapping any written kanji with... Absolutely nothing! It looks absolutely ridiculous when you have characters lifting signs that are completely blank. In games, the Famicom detective club swapping groping breasts with trying to swat a bee. The part that makes it especially confusing is that your superior calls you out afterwards. When he calls you out on groping, he sounds reasonable. When he calls you out on not killing a bee, he just sounds like he's being an ass.
And he was so right. Since the baby can't chew it they want to force us to throw out the steaks and shove the bottle in our mouths because they know what's good for us. By force!
What I most hate about this mentality is the fact that states that women can't dress sexy for themselves. When I started to lose weight I still was wearing big clothes because of my idea that I had a gross body, but then I finally tried some skinny clothes and looked at me in the mirror was when I realised I felt good in this clothes. I started to dress for ME to feel cute, not to look cute for others. Clothes make you feel in your own skin, is a way to comunicate who you are. I love to wear suit because I feel sharp, I stylise my hair because I want to, dressing the way I feel confident is a way of show love to myself.

For me the opposite happened. I was curvy and even my dad would make stupid comments about Dolly Partin and Pamela Anderson... It definitely did not feel good. (We had a long frustrating talk that FINALLY fixed that) I had enjoyed wearing cloths that I wanted to wear and it wasn't as if I had been showing lots of skin, I lived where it snowed 8 months out of the year, and I am completely against (then and now) sacrificing comfort for fashion (You can still look and feel great without sacrificing comfort). I was still labeled with some really disgusting names, just because I had a chest. So I put on weight and wore baggy cloths because I wanted it to stop. I eventually got over it, but it was definitely not a pleasant rode and it sucks that even now, I will still get those labels (wearing jeans and a sweater!) just because they can't handle the way my genetics worked out. You get dissed for being over weight and you get dissed for having a figure, where the heck is the middle ground?
This censorship is so annoying, it ruins the things we love and makes thing ugly, courtesy of morons who is not even the target audience of the media they criticize. As an asexual i don't care for the designs that are overly sexualized and usually they just bore me. That being said I still think they should exist for those that enjoy it. It doesn't offend me they exist I just shrug and say not for me and go find something else I do enjoy.
Honestly seeing a lot of shows censored sucks because they believe it's too offensive or some other bs excuse has really ruined my expectations for any new anime because I could read the manga and then see the anime just for stuff to be taken out or changed in the dub to satisfy other people's needs even if the scene was important or not
Censor anime for people who don't watch it for being fun and original since demon Slayer and everything anime is crushing it in sales overall as anime grows in popularity by the year. Anime is being censored for people who see surface level of any storytelling and think Steven universe is somehow smart storytelling. This also happened in MLP's movie as well, they didn't get the actors of the cameoed movie characters to speak again, but they had no need to in the show's epic season finale, since they werent there to talk, only appear. Honestly, the show has worse problems than dumb messages and questionable behind-the-scenes guff. Ask me ANYTHING about the storyline and I garuntee that this show became a waste. The gay wedding, however, was beautifully done, and segwayed amazingly into the actual plot once it happened.

I really hate censorship, because the people who do that are; a) know what is good to everyone even if they don't know even their neighbour, b) want to make someone else believe in what they want to you to believe, c) think you are too stupid to know the difference between real life and a fiction world. As a staight guy i really enjoy seeing some male characters being a giga chad with muscles, more handsome looking or with soft features, or even a funny dude who isn't handsome or even muscular. A while back Chika was under attack by censorship because the artwork of chika showed off the crotch area of her skirt. Ever since Alex from Digital Foundry shit on Project Eve's character design I just haven't really watched their UA-cam channel. It just left such a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just hoping that character is not messed with when the game comes out. And the Bandai Namco situation is the scariest of all! They are my favorite videogame publisher and I really hope they don't stop making beautiful characters to appease the woke.

I think a lot of people are a little too eager to perch themselves onto the moral high ground in their pursuit of virtue. It's those same individuals who render rating organizations, like the ERSB, redundant. While I agree that Censorship is a necessary evil, it shouldn't be used as a cudgel to curb content creators and stump creative freedom. Especially since there were preemptive measures created specifically for these kinds of issues thirty years ago.

@@Osiris2994 I think examples where devs release games on both Sony and Switch have shown us that there's a lot of support for uncensored products. Shaming Sony by letting the world know their version will be inferior at launch has really helped Nintendo and Steam out. Great press comes when gaming companies stand up for their works rather than watering them down. As for the ESRB, I think devs should only care what rating they get when it goes into Adult territory. Kids don't care about the rating, and there's no helping teens with oppressive parents.

I actually disagree with the concept of traits being 'feminine and masculine', but thats a whole different debate. In short, two factors make me disagree with this concept: Any gender identity can freely have any mixture of these with GREAT ease, with much of them coming form nurture, not nature, and the fact that how convenient is it that most of the social progress and mighty valiance and relevant ones are locked behind masculinity, while the still important soft and gentle and nurturing traits are exclusively nailed to women? So I say the gendering of traits only creates unfair and unrealistic expectations of gender and traits should instead be one giant pool of things that apply to individuals.

Oh, aaawwww nuts, might be because I used a couple Asian sites for their higher res images. Look up Deception: Kagero, Deception: Dark Delusion, Deception: Blood Ties, and Deception: Nightmare Princess The first one (Invitation) is pretty dated and a bit of a "tech demo," the same way Dynasty Warriors 2 looks "incomplete" NP is an "expansion" for Ties, but like the Armored Core series can be played on its own and has a self contained story, sharing many assets and traps. If you can, get Nightmare, as it brings back the protags of the previous 3 too. Outfit design is pretty awesome, feels more Korean mmo than Japanese oddly, like they came off Scarlet Blade or Vindictus, especially Velguirie (my fav, and such *deep, dark red hair,* her design is amazing!) and Laegrinna You are basically "the bad guy" and have to defend yourself from heroes, mercenaries, and church soldiers with kinky torture traps, like Dungeon Keeper, but horny(er) Tough to get ahold of, there was a sort of "farewell printing" for the Vita version in 2020 as a special Playasia Vita promo, *it sold out in 4 hours!!* 😱 It is really surprising Tecmo hasn't made a new one in 6 years, it always went fast whenever a new one dropped. Reminded me of trying to hunt down the Atlus Ogre series when I was a kid, always sold out everywhere. The other one I mentioned shock at not seeing was Rumble Roses, Konami teamed up with the Smackdown wrestling guys. It's actually *a competent wrestling game on its own* so even without the lewd bits it would still be fun. Each wrestler has multiple "personalities" (2 in the first, 4 in the second, heels and heroes) which changes depending on the moves you use most. My favourite is Evil/Noble Rose for being an entire Cutey Honey ref, especially since no games exist for that 😔 _Her English voice even nearly matches the ASEAN dub, which just adds to the homage_
The only time censorship is ok in my book is when the media is meant for tv and even then it should be limited to nudity and massive amount of gore. Almost all my siblings can handle blood in their shows to a degree and know what a gun ( calling you out 4kids yugioh ) and any media except tv should not have censorship at all, if someone is buying a piece of media it's cause they like it and everything about it. The only reason I can think such a heavy amount of censorship is even happening is that the industry has mistaken the already false notion of "anime is for kids" to "anime is for infants".

There is so much I want to say here that I'm starting to get a headache just from trying to get my ideas together. I wholeheartedly agree that these overly offended types need to, in the immortal words of Mass Effect's Urdnot Wrex, grow a quad, and realize that no one with half a brain agrees with them. I didn't agree with what Bioware did with the scenes in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, while I did understand, somewhat, especially with Miranda's scenes. I'm a huge fan of ecchi anime, and manga, which leads me to be somewhat concerned when I hear that "World's End Harem" is getting an anime adaptation, about the upcoming censorship of THAT title, much like with "Interspecies Reviewers". I applaud the mangaka of "Fire Force" for not bending the knee to these misguided few. However, it does lead me to be curious, and cautious about the future of my favorite ecchi manga these days, such as "Haite Kudasai, Takamine-san", should it get an anime adaptation, which I hope it does. (Hope for the best, while preparing for the worst...story of my life these past 6 months.) I'm also incredibly cautious about showing support for certain games, when I hear who's involved in the process. I'm reminded of the remake of "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic". I LOVED that game on the original XBox, but this remake has me concerned due to certain members of the writing staff. I guess, if I was to make this rant short, I would say I wholeheartedly feel where you're coming from, agree 1000%, and will continue to hope for the best, while preparing for the worst. (like I always do.)

Tbh, whether it be something like ecchi, dialogue, or injuries, its been getting on my nerves that they’re being censored or butchered that I’m like fuck this and start reading the manga.
That old adage of if you don't like something go do something else, or even older in my opinion don't have anything nice to say about something don't say anything at all, although my dad would say if you don't like what you watch and or play why do you even do it to begin with other than to torture yourself with it?
As an Australian it frustrates me with the level of censorship I have to deal with sometimes; I'm still pinching myself that Blue Reflection Second Light is coming out as planned so far, and the classification of the game seems reasonable. It's predecessor got slapped with an R rating and was digital only. On another note that isn't to do with Anime games, I'm still miffed what happened with Disco Elysium Final Cut earlier this year. The ruling got overturned and now it's available but still it almost happened that I couldn't buy the game, I love how the devs handled the issue though. Still makes me laugh.
I take great joy in enjoying those very elements that the woke consider "problematic". This is even reflected in game lore. In Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the Mages Guild tried to ban the "problematic" practice of necromancy as to avoid triggering the Muggles. It filled me with joy to see the Guild collapse and the advocate for the ban self-immolate.
Here's what I say about "the woke" that you guys keep talking about. People have a right to be concerned when actual offensive shit is on the screen. To me, a guy, what's more offensive than the outfits of the women, is how sidelined and shafted they are. Sure, Deku Bakugou and Todoroki are the main focus, thats fair game, its like complaining that Sly Cooper and his gang are the focus instead of the villains they face or the side characters they might encounter, they are the main trio, so they NEED the most focus. But how come even among side characters, the men are the ones getting all the badass frontline quirks, or all the development? Why is it that the UA big three, the woman is the one that got shafted? How come the overhaul arc basically shattered the notion that MHA "broke the shonen female curse" when that literally could not be further from the truth? My issue is that MHA threatens to get better with female representation, and it never does. Shounen might be targeted to young boys, but isnt that a good opportunity to show SOME competent, strong, well-written female characters? After all, if you're marketing to young boys, is it NOT a good idea to show them that girls are just as competent, equal, and complex as boys? That's just my issue with the show. Now as for the games censorship and all that? THATS something I can agree with to an extent. I agree that some people need to chill tf out about the outfits of certain characters. To me, I think sometimes, sexy outfits are fine. Bayonetta was fine, the character early in the video was fine, but why would I want to watch MEDIEVAL FANTASY WARRIOR WOMEN strutting around in bikini armor? Thats dumb, especially if the story is meant to be this super serious drama, its distracting and stupid. I can KIND OF accept barbarian/berserker types though, your Conans if you will, thats kind of fair game in my eyes. I think what we should be concerned about is improper placement of sexy attire. I propose the following example. If your story requires the characters to wear protective armor or some form of proper clothing when going out to battle, say in medieval fantasy or sci fi, and if the story is meant to be taken seriously and isnt JUST a comedic romp the whole way through, then try to be reasonable with the attire your women and men and so on wear. I want to see badass knights killing monsters, I dont want the men to be properly armored only for the women to look like barbie doll supermodels. Arent these women supposed to be knights in shining armor, protecting the weak? Thats basically my concern, inappropriate time and place, not the attire itself.

Censorship is just stupid and needs to go. If the character in project eve was a hot male instead of female wearing a skintight outfit, I can bet that people wouldn't be complaining about the character being sexualized, rather, they would then be complaining about the character not being a female because fuck men. Also, the focus on hot sexy women in anime/games being horrible and disgusting by portraying an idealized body doesn't make sense. There are plenty of models in real life that have bodies most people don't have and are presented as an ideal, but these people are fine.

One of the biggest problems of woke culture is creating problems, that don't exist. For example: ”This character shouldn't be so sexy, it's damaging to real women," when nobody (normal people) had even a slightest problem with the design. Like why, I ask? Why do we need to solve these "problems", that aren't problems in first place? Maybe for publicity? Maybe because it's popular? I find it really sad that some people aren't trying to solve the real problems, like working conditions of Japanese animators, censorship in media, streaming service monopolies etc, but rather, they're trying to force their opinions on others.

The issue with Modern western media is that they're being way too safe and prioritize a status (political agenda)and money than actually tell good storytelling in their videogames, Cartoons and TV Shows and appealing to a demographic that never care about these other media other than rant about a non problematic issue for the sake of "Equality", but in reality they wanted to gain attention to prioritize their privilege. The point of media is a form of escapism that allows us to just relax and play games for fun after a hard day of work. And media services a purpose, it allows people to develop imagination or creativity in them that they want to express the art they love without boundaries and telling good stories to help them inspire to do greater (like I was into Anime thanks to Outlaw Star, Gundam and Sailor Moon because I love art and character story). If western media continues to stray from artistic merits for the sake of political correctness and appealing to the wrong audience, then everything will become stale and lost uniqueness. In SHort, don't change Japan and please continue to make good anime and games without being bounded by modern sensibility.

Those companies that want to make products for a more "global" audience, how about we take all their products and show them to Islamic scholars and mainstream media in the middle east? What I most hate about this mentality is the fact that states that women can't dress sexy for themselves. When I started to lose weight I still was wearing big clothes because of my idea that I had a gross body, but then I finally tried some skinny clothes and looked at me in the mirror was when I realised I felt good in this clothes. I started to dress for ME to feel cute, not to look cute for others. Clothes make you feel in your own skin, is a way to comunicate who you are. I love to wear suit because I feel sharp, I stylise my hair because I want to, dressing the way I feel confident is a way of show love to myself.

For me the opposite happened. I was curvy and even my dad would make stupid comments about Dolly Partin and Pamela Anderson... It definitely did not feel good. (We had a long frustrating talk that FINALLY fixed that) I had enjoyed wearing cloths that I wanted to wear and it wasn't as if I had been showing lots of skin, I lived where it snowed 8 months out of the year, and I am completely against (then and now) sacrificing comfort for fashion (You can still look and feel great without sacrificing comfort). I was still labeled with some really disgusting names, just because I had a chest. So I put on weight and wore baggy cloths because I wanted it to stop. I eventually got over it, but it was definitely not a pleasant rode and it sucks that even now, I will still get those labels (wearing jeans and a sweater!) just because they can't handle the way my genetics worked out. You get dissed for being over weight and you get dissed for having a figure, where the heck is the middle ground?

Nicki Minaj was there to give a celebrity a cool role in a show that rapidly gained traction in popularity. Throwing in Nicki was not a smart move, mind you, but its the same reason any celebrity gets hired to feature in movies or shows, as a fun cameo to really add spice and flavor to that individual piece of media. There is, however, a good reason why thats often reserved for MOVIES, not REGULAR EPISODES, its like if they had David Bowie voice a recurring show character in spongebob, its just a dumb decision that requires that character to be mute, so they decided that David Bowie was best used as a movie character.
This also happened in MLP's movie as well, they didn't get the actors of the cameoed movie characters to speak again, but they had no need to in the show's epic season finale, since they werent there to talk, only appear.
Honestly, the show has worse problems than dumb messages and questionable behind-the-scenes guff. Ask me ANYTHING about the storyline and I garuntee that this show became a waste. The gay wedding, however, was beautifully done, and segwayed amazingly into the actual plot once it happened.

Ever since Alex from Digital Foundry shit on Project Eve's character design I just haven't really watched their UA-cam channel. It just left such a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just hoping that character is not messed with when the game comes out. And the Bandai Namco situation is the scariest of all! I think a lot of people are a little too eager to perch themselves onto the moral high ground in their pursuit of virtue. It's those same individuals who render rating organizations, like the ERSB, redundant.
While I agree that Censorship is a necessary evil, it shouldn't be used as a cudgel to curb content creators and stump creative freedom. Especially since there were preemptive measures created specifically for these kinds of issues thirty years ago.

@@Osiris2994 I think examples where devs release games on both Sony and Switch have shown us that there's a lot of support for uncensored products. Shaming Sony by letting the world know their version will be inferior at launch has really helped Nintendo and Steam out. Great press comes when gaming companies stand up for their works rather than watering them down. As for the ESRB, I think devs should only care what rating they get when it goes into Adult territory. Kids don't care about the rating, and there's no helping teens with oppressive parents.

I actually disagree with the concept of traits being 'feminine and masculine', but thats a whole different debate. In short, two factors make me disagree with this concept: Any gender identity can freely have any mixture of these with GREAT ease, with much of them coming form nurture, not nature, and the fact that how convenient is it that most of the social progress and mighty valiance and relevant ones are locked behind masculinity, while the still important soft and gentle and nurturing traits are exclusively nailed to women?
So I say the gendering of traits only creates unfair and unrealistic expectations of gender and traits should instead be one giant pool of things that apply to individuals.

NP is an "expansion" for Ties, but like the Armored Core series can be played on its own and has a self contained story, sharing many assets and traps. If you can, get Nightmare, as it brings back the protags of the previous 3 too.

It is really surprising Tecmo hasn't made a new one in 6 years, it always went fast whenever a new one dropped. Reminded me of trying to hunt down the Atlus Ogre series when I was a kid, always sold out everywhere.
The other one I mentioned shock at not seeing was Rumble Roses, Konami teamed up with the Smackdown wrestling guys. It's actually *a competent wrestling game on its own* so even without the lewd bits it would still be fun. Each wrestler has multiple "personalities" (2 in the first, 4 in the second, heels and heroes) which changes depending on the moves you use most.
My favourite is Evil/Noble Rose for being an entire Cutey Honey ref, especially since no games exist for that 😔

The only time censorship is ok in my book is when the media is meant for tv and even then it should be limited to nudity and massive amount of gore. Almost all my siblings can handle blood in their shows to a degree and know what a gun ( calling you out 4kids yugioh ) and any media except tv should not have censorship at all, if someone is buying a piece of media it's cause they like it and everything about it. The only reason I can think such a heavy amount of censorship is even happening is that the industry has mistaken the already false notion of "anime is for kids" to "anime is for infants".
In those cases, the works should also be totally available uncensored for private purchase.

I didn't agree with what Bioware did with the scenes in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, while I did understand, somewhat, especially with Miranda's scenes.
I'm a huge fan of ecchi anime, and manga, which leads me to be somewhat concerned when I hear that "World's End Harem" is getting an anime adaptation, about the upcoming censorship of THAT title, much like with "Interspecies Reviewers". I applaud the mangaka of "Fire Force" for not bending the knee to these misguided few. However, it does lead me to be curious, and cautious about the future of my favorite ecchi manga these days, such as "Haite Kudasai, Takamine-san", should it get an anime adaptation, which I hope it does. (Hope for the best, while preparing for the worst...story of my life these past 6 months.)
I'm also incredibly cautious about showing support for certain games, when I hear who's involved in the process. I'm reminded of the remake of "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic". I LOVED that game on the original XBox, but this remake has me concerned due to certain members of the writing staff.
I guess, if I was to make this rant short, I would say I wholeheartedly feel where you're coming from, agree 1000%, and will continue to hope for the best, while preparing for the worst. (like I always do.)
The question is why they even feel the need to change the story of SWKOTR. There is no need to change the story. Just update the graphics and game play. No one has ever complained about the story.

As an Australian it frustrates me with the level of censorship I have to deal with sometimes; I'm still pinching myself that Blue Reflection Second Light is coming out as planned so far, and the classification of the game seems reasonable. It's predecessor got slapped with an R rating and was digital only. On another note that isn't to do with Anime games, I'm still miffed what happened with Disco Elysium Final Cut earlier this year. The ruling got overturned and now it's available but still it almost happened that I couldn't buy the game, I love how the devs handled the issue though. Still makes me laugh.

I take great joy in enjoying those very elements that the woke consider "problematic". This is even reflected in game lore. In Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the Mages Guild tried to ban the "problematic" practice of necromancy as to avoid triggering the Muggles. It filled me with joy to see the Guild collapse and the advocate for the ban self-immolate.
Here's what I say about "the woke" that you guys keep talking about. People have a right to be concerned when actual offensive shit is on the screen. To me, a guy, what's more offensive than the outfits of the women, is how sidelined and shafted they are. Sure, Deku Bakugou and Todoroki are the main focus, thats fair game, its like complaining that Sly Cooper and his gang are the focus instead of the villains they face or the side characters they might encounter, they are the main trio, so they NEED the most focus.
But how come even among side characters, the men are the ones getting all the badass frontline quirks, or all the development? Why is it that the UA big three, the woman is the one that got shafted? How come the overhaul arc basically shattered the notion that MHA "broke the shonen female curse" when that literally could not be further from the truth?
My issue is that MHA threatens to get better with female representation, and it never does. Shounen might be targeted to young boys, but isnt that a good opportunity to show SOME competent, strong, well-written female characters? After all, if you're marketing to young boys, is it NOT a good idea to show them that girls are just as competent, equal, and complex as boys? That's just my issue with the show.
Now as for the games censorship and all that? THATS something I can agree with to an extent. I agree that some people need to chill tf out about the outfits of certain characters. To me, I think sometimes, sexy outfits are fine. Bayonetta was fine, the character early in the video was fine, but why would I want to watch MEDIEVAL FANTASY WARRIOR WOMEN strutting around in bikini armor? Thats dumb, especially if the story is meant to be this super serious drama, its distracting and stupid. I can KIND OF accept barbarian/berserker types though, your Conans if you will, thats kind of fair game in my eyes.
I think what we should be concerned about is improper placement of sexy attire. I propose the following example.
If your story requires the characters to wear protective armor or some form of proper clothing when going out to battle, say in medieval fantasy or sci fi, and if the story is meant to be taken seriously and isnt JUST a comedic romp the whole way through, then try to be reasonable with the attire your women and men and so on wear. I want to see badass knights killing monsters, I dont want the men to be properly armored only for the women to look like barbie doll supermodels. Arent these women supposed to be knights in shining armor, protecting the weak?
Thats basically my concern, inappropriate time and place, not the attire itself.

Censorship is just stupid and needs to go. If the character in project eve was a hot male instead of female wearing a skintight outfit, I can bet that people wouldn't be complaining about the character being sexualized, rather, they would then be complaining about the character not being a female because fuck men. Also, the focus on hot sexy women in anime/games being horrible and disgusting by portraying an idealized body doesn't make sense. There are plenty of models in real life that have bodies most people don't have and are presented as an ideal, but these people are fine.

The issue with Modern western media is that they're being way too safe and prioritize a status (political agenda)and money than actually tell good storytelling in their videogames, Cartoons and TV Shows and appealing to a demographic that never care about these other media other than rant about a non problematic issue for the sake of "Equality", but in reality they wanted to gain attention to prioritize their privilege. The point of media is a form of escapism that allows us to just relax and play games for fun after a hard day of work. And media services a purpose, it allows people to develop imagination or creativity in them that they want to express the art they love without boundaries and telling good stories to help them inspire to do greater (like I was into Anime thanks to Outlaw Star, Gundam and Sailor Moon because I love art and character story). If western media continues to stray from artistic merits for the sake of political correctness and appealing to the wrong audience, then everything will become stale and lost uniqueness. In SHort, don't change Japan and please continue to make good anime and games without being bounded by modern sensibility.

Those companies that want to make products for a more "global" audience, how about we take all their products and show them to Islamic scholars and mainstream media in the middle east?
