I don’t think “costs one mana to cast” necessarily means that it has a mana value of 1, I’d be willing to bet that the new “start your engines!” mechanic is some sort of conditional alternate casting cost which allows this card to be cast for 1
13/13 vehicle; defender; crew 2; sacrifice a creature that crewed a vehicle this turn: [insert name] gains trample and reach until end of turn; exile a creature card from your graveyard or hand: [insert name] loses defender until end of turn.
For the one-drop 13/13 vehicle, what if it comes in with -1/-1 counters [like the hatchlings from Eventide] that can get removed as it gets crewed? To fit the vehicle theme, they could even be called rust counters, lol. But I digress. Hypothetically, it comes in with 12 -1/-1 [or "Rust"] counters on it, and has "whenever a creature crews this vehicle, you may remove up to X counters on this card, where X is that creature's power". The other downside is that it can potentially remove keyword counters if they aren't careful (or if an opponent steals it for a turn). Having them be non-stat counters would also be beneficial if someone paired against them has a proliferation engine.
Thought of the same. Actually also thought if it is something like rakdos, it could also mean, that you have to sacrifice the crew member (like suicidal goblins)
i know the wording is off from how it would be on a card but i think this would be a decent way to balance it, feel free to disagree lol -when it attacks and isn't blocked, sacrifice it at end of combat -if it attacks and is blocked, it deals excess damage to it's owner unless it's controller sacrifices another creature -cannot attack two turns in a row
I think it will be a 1 mana, 13/13, Legendary Goblin driver OR Goblin Pit Crew that cannot attack BUT can fully crew any vehicle. What it crews it has some resource upside (draw a card or search for equipment) and the crewed vehicle damage counts as commander damage.
I imagined they would make whatever crewed the vehicle become sacrificed, and then based on the sacrificed creatures power the vehicle would get -x/-x, possibly based on the difference in power between the two? So you crew it with a 4/4 and the cataclysm engine becomes a 4/4 as well, getting -9/-9. Might be a bit complicated to explain in a card but its another possibility.
Why does it have to be a commander? I’m sure that teaser is a card in the main set other wise it won’t see play in constructed. I think it’s a non commander specific card for the 13/13 one cost

For some reason, I imagine start your engines similar to be "revving" and I could see it as you need to crew it multiple times to get the full power.
Might be similar to the start your engines card. @@ohnosmoarlulcatz

Aether Drift, featuring Dalen Earned Hearth, and Jace Gore Drawn. King Rochard the Petty also included!
Guess I have to remake my artifact hate deck
Aura Flux is in the chaff piles if you need it
Thanks for a teaser of the preview!!
I genuinely didn't know that one of MtG's most pressing issues right now is the low power level of their current product.

1 colorless mana: 13/13; Crew 13; Sacrifice the Creature that crewed. (Probably not crew 13 but something high. Thats my guess
I wouldn't be surprised if the 13/13 vehicle IS phyrexian dreadnought
Phyrexian Dreadnought been real quiet since this dropped
FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS THE DAEMOGOTH TITAN!
Watch it turn out that the 13/13 has defender....
I think it would be neat if it did, then give it another crew cost of like 7 or 8 where it would remove defender
My yargle and multani deck is going to love this to sacrifice it draw 13 cards
when it deals combat damage you sacrifice the creatures crewing it
Another option to add, in that same article Maro teased a mechanic called _Exhaust_ that sounds a bit like _Exert._
Mechanically it could also be like raid or boast. Effect based on if they attacked or are tapped end of turn
Perhaps it could enter with -1/-1 counters that are removed over time by crewing or such.

It’s a vehicle so

Yeah, you were off. It’s death’s shadow with crew 2.
Mitchs card is nuts because you can sac land.
I'm thinking that if it has not been crewed, it should tap with a stun counter at the end step.
I think that 13/13 will be Crew 10 to 12 and comes in tapped to give players time to respond.
how about something to do with mechtitan core, potentially a vehicle version of its Mech token
Not quite what i am thinking for the one mana 13/13 vehicle. i am thinking more a vehicle version of Death's shadow.
Hmmm...... I will skip the 13/13 creatures. Thank you for the video.
I put deaths shadow in my varolz deck along with force of nature and phyrexian dreadnought, lets just say it makes infect very fun and fast
That’s kinda what I was think like delraich or demon at deaths gate or lord of the pit where there’s an each turn sac
One cost, but you can't play lands or skip a certain number of turns...
Maybe the Vehicle has the effect to pay 13 life to cast this for 1 mana
i think the 13 13 will have to do with energy
It’s gonna say all your creatures get -2-2 lol
What if it just blows up everything that crews it lol
Sac 2 non tokens sux and makes it mediocre even at sac decs
Bunch of 13's? Can cost 1? Gotta be Blasphemous Racecar.
Interesting theories. Fun video!
As someone who makes and proxies my own cards I love that you make a video on a community posted one
Or maybe no downside.....
