It says a lot about System Shock 2 that every time I play a similar game, I'm always waiting for "that twist" that I first remember seeing in Polito's room. I didn't trust Atlas further than I could throw him for example lol
In March of 1999 there was released game called Heroes of Might and Magic III... did you ever hear about?! Not having it on the list is total disgrace, not to mention about Legacy of Kain.
Your videos are just awesome and you cover topics that all those self-proclaimed "Gaming Historians" out there don't. I immensely enjoy your uploads. Let's hope you soon will get the success you deserve on UA-cam!
@@computergamingyesterdayCan u tell me game name? Game plot is like this: the girl has two laser guns. When game starts, a girl enter a room, a demon tries to stab her from backside with a trident. The demons were get killed by girl in the game, but they reappear on same place after some seconds. On the way she finds a hall having access to three rooms. The middle one is fire room. If she goes, she dies. She either had to choose left or right one. The right one was difficult. So I chooses left one. There were laser rods coming and going on the foot steps. After coming down she finds a demon, kills it and move further. Next there is a moving robot, that robot is like round sweeping machines . I can't kill it. It tries to give electric shock to me. If I fire, it goes in a hall and charges itself again and attack me. I had to move next room where I don't find anyone but someone kills me. It's a game around year 2000
LOL on the Quake 3 : Arena at @5:04 timeslot "you could still play with bots if your mom was using the phone"! So nice fond memories from 56k modems internet era!
No, it's not, it's from the remaster. I've used a mix of new and remastered clips for this video. Using only clips from an original release can look pretty awful on modern devices, unfortunately.
Good old times i wish we could go back and relive those moments over again... gaming today sucks so bad all they focus on is dlss and other ba like ray tracing-. These old games looked like crap but they were fun still play them to this day. Serious sam was also a good one
no Heroes 3... no Command & Conquer Tiberium Sun no Hidden & Dangerous no Re-Volt number 9 what ? no thx number 5 wtf ? number 4 are u ok ? number 2????????? number 1????????????????????????????? (1.0 is (2000)
Insane year for online gaming. Everquest, Counter-Stirke, Team Forteress and Unreal Tournament, I wished I could split into 4 to play them all.
Didn't realize there were so many great games that year. I loved Everquest though and System Shock 2 is a cult classic.
It really might be the best year.
Great video. I hope you do more for other years like 1998, 1997 and so on. The 90's were the best for PC gaming. I subscribed.

I know, I know...I made a long list of possible games, and those were certainly on the list. But at the end of the day they didn't quite make it in.
You forgot:
-Half Life
-Sven Coop
-Counter Strike (BETA 1) (1999)
Half life was released on 1998 btw

Not a masterpiece, but a unique and forgotten game from this year is Drakan.
Nice list dude. I was gonna say Everquest for 1999 games, so I guess, Pepsiman?
He did say it was going to be controversial. But damn, thanks for the warning.
Pepsiman? Lol. There's a deep cut.
Thanks for listing the Patreon members - I had 100% forgot I was a patron until you thanked me for it!
Hah, no prob! Thanks for the support
Roughly 98 til like 2003 was the golden age of PC games for me, there are so many from that era that I still play on my beefy 4070ti rig

I'm still playing Everquest today! I remember playing all these games when they came out. Wow, I'm old. Great video!!!
Woah, nice to see Team Fortress Classic in a list (:
I didn't even think of it first. But when I got more serious it became clear it had to be on the list. And high on it, too.
This is the list I was looking for, thanks. I just woulda put Everquest at #1. = DDD
Great video! Hope to see more. The patreon link isn't working either :(
Is that really what Homeworld looked like when it came out? It looks like a modern game, especially the cutscene
