42 years old. Same feeling. Out of these I think I spent most hours on Tiberian Sun. But I keep going back to Red Alert II. That's my all time favorite game.
My best friend's dad worked for a PC repair business and was a huge gamer. I was quite young, but I remember watching him play many of these games and thinking how unusual it was for dads to play video games -- dude was probably only 33 at the time, haha.
Really awesome list! I owned so many of these games and loved them sooo much! Played hours and hours on these, thank you so much for bringing back memories.
Rainbow Six was a great MP shooter. I loved the heart beat sensor. That was a time of LAN caffees, sitting next to guys that you shoot. Will never come back ;)
Thanks for your videos, the 90's brought us a lot of PC classics, too bad there are not many content covering some of these gems. I loved yours covering DOS games, keep it up!
My god THANK YOU. I've been searching for Incubation time is running out for almost 20 years, played that game on a PC gaming disc and never knew the name of the game. YOU ARE THE GOATTTT !!
Right on! I was all about the PC these years with my VooDoo 1 & 2 cards. Hopefully more and more of these show up on GOG… though quite a few already do.
MDK!!! Back in the 90's, I got that game for free with our Packard Bell Desktop (Windows 95), and I still have it. :) I remember the struggle. You had very long levels to play, without any checkpoints or places to save the game. You had the finish that entire level before you could save the game!
@@o0L4nc3r0o If you don't remember feeding the main boss weird fish-like things from the dispenser or the French music video, you probably never played it to the real end. 😁
Planescape: Torment, System Shock 2, Total Annihilation, Fallout 1/2.... some of my favourite games, great to see them but hard to see what made them stand out in just 30 seconds of clips.
My childhood is here! Tomb Raider, Carmageddon 2, Rayman 2, Meier’s Alpha Centauri, Monkey Island, Unreal, Quake, Driver, Starcraft, Soul Reaver, Turok… all good memories
Golden era of video games were 1995-2005 the "real" revolution . So many great games shown in this video - Total Annihilation one of the best RTS ever . - MDK excellent third person shooter with funny moments . - Unreal & Unreal Tournament thousands hours of playing it still today without being bored of it and is on my top 5 games . - Half-Life great lore and another of my top 5 games . - Tomb Raider 2 & 3 excellent . - Resident Evil 2 wow took me so long time to finish the game . - Carmageddon 2 was okayish but slow paced compared to the first one . - Shadow Man an interesting game with a great message one of my top 10 games . - Sin one of the hidden gems as fps . - Quake 2 great game sadly the final boss was too easy to kill .. - Driver the "Real" first 3D open openworld gta-like . - Turok yeah excellent . - Star Wars : Dark Forces 2 another one of my top 10 games . Gosh i feel old 😥 lol
@@DarthPferd Well there are a couple of PS3/Xbox 360 era games that I still like but they were on the PC. Fallout New Vegas for example. But for the rest I also feel that the golden age of gaming came to end in the PS2 era.
@@metalmajesty I might even throw in the Amiga era, and there were also some decent games on the C64, ZX Spectrum, and MSX2 (really hate that we in the West missed out on the X68000) I would perhaps extend the period to 2007 with some after 'spasms' to 2010.
This was a revolutionary time for video games, pretty much everything on the list is a banger. Of course there are exceptions, but imo, gaming peaked in late 90s.
Im always glad and surprised when people include Fallout 1 and 2, and Xcom Apocalypse to those lists, but I was really surprised seeing one of my favorite games ever enter the list: Warhammer Dark Omen. Unit this day I wish they would have made more of this game =\
Interesting how some games on this list created trends that last until today. I didn't play them all on the list but the one that most sparked nostalgia in me was Tomb Rider 3.
I still did watch some television but playing games on the PC like Half Life, Homeworld, Fallout, Jedi Knight etc was a lot more interesting in general.
KKND and KKND 2 are the awesomiest games! I walkedthrough KKND 2 several times in 1999, 2000... and 2012. And KKND 2 is almost well balanced. Its atmosphere is splendid. No lags, fine graphics. And its music that I listen till now.
Twinsen Odyssey (Little Big Adventure 2) is a masterpiece still today. Great story, very nice puzzles and mysteries. Also you develop a very emotional conection with all the main caracteres. Its a pitty dont see that story in movies and other games
👍for helping me find oustcast, i was going mad because the name was on the tip of my tung but for the live of me i couldnt recall it. Thanks man 😊. I was like 3626.
Damn, lot's of games I played back then. Still am an all time gamer and will probably do that till I die. One of the games I played, but forgot the name is Incubation. Awesome game multiplayer.
🤔... De aquella época me quedo con: 1-Quake 3 Arena 2-Roller Coaster Tycoon 3-Viper Racing ... Jugué aprox. al 75% de los títulos que aparecen... 😅👹👍 Buen video! Un Saludo❗
interestingly i was expecting Little Big Adventure 2 (that you have placed under T for "Twinsen's Odyssey") since on my diskettes the exe was named lba2.exe and I recall large letters Little Big Adventure 2 on intro screen... after some googling I've found both the orginal artwork for European release (without the subname "Twinsen Odyssey" on it) and that it's remake has been scheduled for release on Steam in 2024... cool ) this makes this video already very useful! thx
I love that the Tomb Raider II clip that was used was Alfred getting locked in that stupid freezer. Lol I used to only do that training level to do exactly that.
Year 2000 sophomore year drafting and tech class we had all the computers on a LAN party and played Unreal Tournament almost daily. Good times that won't be replicated
Reason why I have a retro PC WIn98 and WinXP to play older games. Yeah it is possible to play them on modern machines but I like to play them on my actual Win98 or WinXP PC.
At 70 i still have alot of these old game and the ones i loved was the 1st person shooters from Doom, Duke Nukem which i still have on one of my old laptop`s and i have a laptop with Windows 3.11 and the disk`s to go with it.
So many games that I spent my childhood playing. Possibly the best year for games releases ever. So many big names in one year. Halflife and Unreal Fallout 1 & 2 Baldurs gate and Diablo. Age of Empires and Caesar and Pharaoh Turok And Alpha Centauri that was superb.
The short period between 1997/2001 was arguably the most exciting for videogames development, with tech innovations such cd/dvds, 3d accelerator cards(..ahh the good old unforgotten 3DFX!) and..ehm Win98SE(despite the bugs was an hell of a system!). How to forget those games: DukeNukem, Quake1&2, Unreal, RednekRampage(!), Kyrandia adventures, BladeRunner, NoOneLivesForever, StarWars 1st polygonal games JedyKnight, ShadowsOfEmpire, the racing games MotoRacer and Need4Speed3 but the games that surprised me most for their ambition/technical achievements were Outcast and the misknown DevilInside !!

This is a nice way to protest against the removal of a functionality.

I´m 50 years old, and I still do gaming PCs because of that era. This video made my insides go warm again.
42 years old. Same feeling. Out of these I think I spent most hours on Tiberian Sun.
But I keep going back to Red Alert II. That's my all time favorite game.
This was the best time ever
It really was. Gaming was so much fun back then. Never had the same gaming joy as back in this era. So many future defining titles. Simply awesome.
Agree 1000%....a wonderful time to be alive!
They will never understand
WHat a great time to be alive then, glad I've played most of them and so much great games in such a short time.
Still playing Fallout 1-2 and Jagged Alliance series. They were too good for their era.
Me, too. Also Might and Magic 6, Alpha Centauri and X-Com Apocalypse.
@ChristopherWallbank-di9hj Yes, I liked that for a while, too.
My best friend's dad worked for a PC repair business and was a huge gamer. I was quite young, but I remember watching him play many of these games and thinking how unusual it was for dads to play video games -- dude was probably only 33 at the time, haha.
it was unusual in those times for an adult to play videogames. He was a pioneer
This was fun to watch. Brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for putting these together.
I spent many hours playing Baldur's Gate, Diablo and Planescape Torment. Great games.
Really awesome list! I owned so many of these games and loved them sooo much! Played hours and hours on these, thank you so much for bringing back memories.
Railroad Tycom 2 ....Nostalgic ... Thanks bro, for reactivating good memories in my mind. What a good time man.
Yeah good game! Replayed entire game last month, tried to win all campaigns with gold medal. Some campaigns have unrealistic goals.
Awesome video, full of good memories!
Thank you for including Myth 1 & 2!
Nice touch adding the ESRB rating for each. These videos are a good reference
Rainbow Six was a great MP shooter. I loved the heart beat sensor. That was a time of LAN caffees, sitting next to guys that you shoot. Will never come back ;)
This is my favourite era of PC gaming. What a time!
yes DevilInside, Outcast,.. were probably the most ambitious games !

They fixed MDK in the retail version. There, you could save the game at any point. Were you able to go all the way to the end, or did it crash?
@@zorkmid1083 I can´t really remember ever finishing the entire game... 🤔

For those of you who don't know. MDK stood for murder, death, kill
This list hit me in all the nostalgias

Descent 3, System Shock 2, Heretic 2, StarCraft 2 Brood War, NFS3... I miss these times so bad.
I loved these games! It even made me want to play them. Thanks!

I think a lot of us feel old because we were gamers during this period and realize know that it is almost twenty years later.
1993 - 2005
I would say from Nes to PS2 times

We really blessed years with amazing games. Now I remember why I gave up watching television for playing on my computer every evening lol
