Hi. I love all the decluttering channels. I have a two bedroom and two bath, 750 square foot home. The channels all seem to have big homes. That gives you a lot more space to find a home for everything. My bedroom has two closets and my desk is in one with the doors off the closet. My "laundry room" is the hallway to the back bedroom. My kitchen has a few small drawers and limited cabinets. Home has awesome light from windows but that leaves little room for shelves or furniture without blocking the windows. Maybe you can address small home issues, please. Have a nice day and thank you.

And without those huge basements. My pantry is a drawer in the kitchen.

IKEA has pictures on their website for small spaces, you might be able to steal some of those ideas 💡

A smaller home would likely mean less people living in said home and thus less stuff (because it's the stuff of less people).
A friend lives in a similar situation (a flat, so no attic or basement ; lots of windows (low windows, so she cannot put a dresser in front of those. Only one bathroom, but a large hallway with walls full of doors - no way to add storage) . Yet I would not call her flat "small"...
(Now, she did redo her kitchen to maximise the storage... But on the other hand, she has no laundry room at all, washer and dryer live in a bathroom). Her parents even lived there with her for some years, and it never felt like storage was an issue for them all.
I know it's likely me not being from the USA, but still, we definitely have different notions of what "small house" mean (now if you happen to live in that flat with 3 kids, I take that black !).

@@Cecily-Pimprenelle Hi. I do have son and dogs. My house just doesn’t have storage like I said. My coat closet hold a few coats and mostly the mop vacuum carpet cleaner ironing board and bun with dog food. The closet is not even 34 inches wide. I lived in Europe for three years I know the size of apartments there. If you have any actual ideas would appreciate it. Oh I sew and my machines are in the small living room. Have a nice day.

I love what I call a “jumping off” spot where I already have something to declutter in mind. This gives me somewhere to start and is great motivation for me! Sometimes when I have to stop a decluttering session, I will purposefully leave something so I can start there next time! 😂 8:05

I packed up my pantry yesterday bc we’re a week away from a remodel. I was surprised at how many expired cans I had. I usually go through them 2-3 times a year, maybe I skipped a season.

I started decluttering when I became a mom of 2. The toys and baby items were too much. Now as a mom of 3 young children I crave minimalism and simplicity. Look forward to decluttering in October!!!

I stopped changing out wardrobes years ago when I realized how many times I was going into out of season storage to find something to wear. Despite living in a northern tier state with four distinct seasons about half of my wardrobe is temperate clothing about a quarter each in extreme hot and cold weather clothing. I have something of a capsule wardrobe, it was not an intentional choice but came about when I started replacing my favorite items with similar items and letting “not favorites” go. I don’t dress in seasonal colors I wear what looks good on my year round, no switching for that.
I store my clothes in zones so everything fits and doesn’t require shuffling, for example, I have a dresser drawer that holds bulky and some thin sweaters, in the summer it is “storage”, in cold weather it is the drawer I work out of when wearing those items. No switching, no tote to store. My “capsule” pjs* are in a drawer with the rest (and less frequently worn) of my thin sweaters. My dressy boots are in my clothes closet, my “muck boots” are in the entry way for use in wet sloppy weather any time of year. My closet has two hanging tiers, the top for most frequently worn items, the bottom for less frequently worn. This works better for me than having all my shirts and sweaters together. Top tier has short sleeve tops on the left (easiest to get to) long sleeved on the right, as it gets cooler and I start wearing long sleeved things, when they come back from laundry they get hung on left so what I am actually wearing is easier to reach. And I never have to look at more than 12-18” of rod space to find what I want to wear. The lower tier holds things like sleeveless shirts (only worn for layering), seasonal tees (Grinch tee only gets worn at Christmas time), skirts and dress slacks infrequently worn and out of size clothing. My current size jeans are on a shelf, my non current size jeans are on a different shelf near folded sweat shirts.
While I have more clothes than some people because my weight yo-yos I try to keep that inventory down by only keeping clothes one size larger and one smaller than I am currently wearing. When I switch sizes I look at the things I am sizing out of and keep only those item in good condition that I love so when I go back to that size what I’ve been storing is something I’ll actually wear not leave hanging because while it is the right size I don’t like how it fits. This means I have fewer of each clothing item in non current size clothing, maybe 5 polo shirts in my current size, and only two in my too big size.
*capsule pjs: two long sleeve tee shirts, two short sleeve tee shirt, two pair of drawstring flannel pants and two pair of drawstring knit shorts, all can be worn in various combinations in all weather and heating situations. Drawstrings and slightly larger teeshirt means they are less size dependent.

I think the state of "overwhelmed", the decisions, not knowing exactly what to save and not, and the sheer total number of things, is the biggest obstacle to progress.
