My god, someone other than me remembers this game! I'm so happy to see it :D
Super happy to hear that!
I finished that game so many times on my Athon XP 1.8GHz!!
It was one of my favourite games.
I still have a physical copy of this on PS2
Coolest thing are those game overs you get if you fail at different stages. Like, if you start killing people at the tutorial, you get special game over cutscene. Such a attention to detail.
BTW at 13:33 main villain of Second Sight is voiced by Geralt.
Yep. They’re story-related too, not gimmicky!
@@thesummerofmark It also piqued my interest towards the game since I got that women mystic killed in a escort mission and you get interrogation cut scene going with "she died because of you." When you get the full picture, those are one of the most chilling game overs ever made.
@@valder8423 and then you get the “a-ha!” moment towards the end and it’s sooo satisfying
@@thesummerofmark I'm pretty sure with the tutorial secret, I swear there is like a secret level where you have to fight the colonel but he is invincible. Also on gamecube there is a glitch if you spam the perspective switch and attack at the same time you can move and shoot in first person and turn the game into like goldeneye or perfect dark.
Funny that you mention Psi-Ops. There have another thing in common you didn't mention - both sold poorly and Psi-Ops ends on a cliffhanger, although I don't think the story was particularly memorable. I played it a long time ago, so I might be wrong. Great video as always!
Thanks Bee! I haven’t looked at sales numbers so that comes as a surprise to me. I just assumed that Psi Ops sold well
Good stuff, as always! As someone who adores games from this particular era, I gotta say that this game intrigued me (especially that bit you posted on Twitter). I love seeing some of the reactivity that they put into it, but it really does look like its a game that had a lot of good ideas that it couldn't fully capitalize on, for a number of different reasons.
Thanks man! Same, I was super impressed by the amount of reactivity they put into it. caught me by surprise the first time it happened, I was like “huh, so it’s THAT kind of game”
Another banger of a video. Wish I had time to play this.
Thank you! It’s pretty short (7-8 hours) but yeah, there are so many good new games coming out that a 20 year old game is a hard sell
@@thesummerofmark I hope its not nostalgia talking but for me it seems that the greed/big business has stripped videogames from the magic that they once had. The way some games like Second Sight combined gameplay, sound, story etc. was just pure magic, even though the graphics was not the best. The most recent game that felt like this was Mario Odyssey, seems that the people at Nintendo still know how to do it. Most new games are so predictable, just shiny graphics, a bit of grind for some upgrades for the carrot stick effect, very basic story etc.
Good Job Mark for always producing content that stays true to your style and high standards!
Thank you cake!!!!
I been trying to remember what this game was called for years, I finally found it!! This style of games needs to make a comeback especially nowadays
I love the early ragdoll physics lmao!
I play this game on my ps2, a true ps2 gem.
Agreed! Hope they’ll make a followup someday
Cool. Not sure how much I'm gonna watch, since I bought the game a year or so for PS2, and not played it much yet. But you are right that it totally flew under the radar. I had no idea about it, until I found it on some kind of ebay like site for like 10 bucks. From what I played, it seems really intriguing.
Hooo boy, wait until you see the twist haha
Wow... How did I miss this one back then? Possibly a precursor or early inspiration for CONTROL by Remedy & 505 Games? Thanks for this, man!
No problem, glad you enjoyed it! It’s not as cerebral as Control (which will be my next video) but I can definitely see some similarities
@@thesummerofmark Awesome! Looking forward to it! Just subbed so I don't miss it! 😁
One of my old favorites, played this on ps2. I mostly played it because I was/am a fan of Free Radical.
Just found your channel, and already watched like five videos! All of them were amazing. Can't wait for the next one.
Psi Ops was the reason I got this game. I was looking for something similar (until the assumed Psi Ops 2 released based on the cliffhanger ending) but instead I got something way more with Second Sight. I absolutely loved it.
i like your videos. psi ops on pc when? : D
I think this is my favorite video of yours. Its the most you :) very funny, quirky, and lively. Well written too!
No u
Awesome review dude, thanks! Haven't tried this one at the time, I was busy with Far Cry, HL2 and VtMB. Might give it a go on my retro gaming laptop, on Windows XP. Hell, 2004 was a good year for games, man.
Thanks dude! It’s perfectly playable on modern systems with a few fan patches btw. Shoot me a DM and I’d be more than happy to help. Unless you’re going for the full 2004 authentic experience on that laptop of course haha
@@thesummerofmark yep was thinking of the authentic experience
Really loved this game. Reminder of much better, simpler times.
Same. If only we’d get a sequel or a game with the same energy
This game had a goal and it achieved it so splendidly. I miss this era of quality. This is the true underrated gem people talk about.
My God, I still need to play this to the end. Why have I not yet? Because always playing TimeSplitters of course. I do have this on my shelf, purchased new, off the shelf.
Well, rabid cult following notwithstanding, the game is pretty obscure. Never too late to play it!
Played the hell outta this game with my step-brother back in the day, but never finished it. Just beat it on PC, thanks to the bois that threw it up on Steam. Such an underrated classic.
great content,always enjoy watching it
Thank you!!!!
When i accidentally buy it and complete it, i always think about that is there any games like this...
I wonder that nobody talking about this...
Remnants of Timesplitters music thrown in there. Especially the Timesplitters 2 track Siberia
I’ve never played Timesplitters actually. Gotta get around to it someday
@@thesummerofmark great game. think anyone whos a game fan should play timesplitters at least once
First time I played this was last summer. Good game, really atmospheric. Shame it took me this long
I was 10-11 when the first time I played it (so around its release) and I remember quitting after the first level because it didn’t pique my interest. Played it again in high school and I loved it
I was expecting you to say
"4 British pounds. Which is a bargain considering the awful state of the post Brexit uk economy."
I’ll save that joke for another video haha
@@thesummerofmark there are several dystopian future games I'd like to cover. I might steal that line for myself.
@@arkham666 yeah, that makes sense. The fictional country of the UK has been a fixture of dystopian media for a while now
@@thesummerofmark I actually walked into a first year class the other day and saw a kid reading the comic adaptation of 1984. I was torn between "great book" and "aren't you a little young for that."
Bruh that floppy disc puzzle was where i got stuck as a kid😂 stopped playing because of it
oh HELL YEAH
HELL YEAH BROTHER
Not gonna lie I loved this game but also could never find it again after I lost the game when I moved but on top of that I don't know many people who even knew about this game
which console version would be better for this game?
I wouldn’t know tbh. I played it on PC so I’ll default to recommending it over the console ports
Xbox
no audio? D:
it works for me
Excuse me?
@@thesummerofmark i swear to god there was ZERO audio. I was skipping around because i thought i was insane.
Its back. Dunno what happened
@@Sputnik34 aight, thanks for the heads up. Thank god the audio is back haha. Probably some processing issues from YT’s end
Why didn't you play the console version if the PC port has issues.
Dude, did I just hear you say, "feels like a Sisyphian task"? You constantly chide yourself for having a not very creative brain. That'd be fine if you didn't keep proving yourself wrong.
How many reviewers even know who Sisyphus is, let alone use his name as an adverb? That's some next-level shit.
By the way, while watching your Second Sight review, I thought of two games that I wanted to suggest, both of which perfectly fit your channel, but more importantly, you will have a blast playing. And isn't work that much better when you can have fun doing it?
The first game is No One Lives Forever. Maybe you've covered it already, I don't remember your entire post history. If not, I'm sure that you've heard of it. NOLF is simply a ton of fun, with a sequel to boot.
The other game is called Velvet Assassin. Virtually no one has covered this game, and it deserves a quality review. It may, however, be one of those games that is hard to find and hard to get running properly. But it's totally worth the effort.
And purely by coincidence, both feature a female protagonist, which is rare in its own right. Didn't a bunch of misogynists lose their shit when Control featured a female lead? Funny how women don't go apeshit when the lead character is male...
Anyway, I'm sure that you'd really enjoy both of these games, NOLF and Velvet Assassin. Two more to add to the list.
god tier game nobody know i wish there a remastered version
