Lhasa, Tibet - Lhasa is one of the most important cities in Tibet, and a home of Tibetan food and culture. In this video we’re going on an ultimate Tibetan street food tour of Lhasa, and additionally we’ll visit the Potala Palace and some of the most significant cultural sights in the city. Let’s start eating Tibetan food! #Lhasa #Tibet #TibetanFood #streetfood
Potala Palace - To begin the morning we started off visiting the Potala Palace, a fortress dzong, with tombs, chapels, and assembly halls, and once the seat of the Dalai Lama. Today it’s still used as a monastery, and a school for Tibetan Buddhist monks. The magnitude will blow you away.
Tibetan Tea House - One of the best parts of culture in Lhasa is the tea house culture. There are big teahouses all over the city, and local Tibetans congregate to drink tea, eat Tibetan food and socialize. I tried some yak noodles, both yak and vegetarian momos, and both sweet and salted tea. Tibetan yak noodles - 6 RMB ($0.84) per bowl
Tibetan Teahouse #2 - Located just off Barkhor Street, on this Tibetan street food tour, we then went to another teahouse, this one probably the largest and most well known local spots in Lhasa. The ambiance was incredible, so vibrant and so energetic. Since I had just had yak noodles, we chose to try some friend noodles and tea, and soak in the Tibetan culture.
Dzomo Cheese - Hybrid between yak and cow - Next we tried some dzomo cheese on the streets of Lhasa, very good and slightly animaly.
Laping noodles - Price - 5 RMB ($0.70) per bowl - One of my favorite of all Tibetan street foods is laping, a type of noodle, sliced off, then mixed with chili oil and spices. It’s the perfect light and flavorful street food snack.
Legendary Yak Momos - Price - 1 RMB ($0.14) per piece - On the corner, just outside the Barkhor Street circle, is a famous yak momos hole in the wall restaurant. The momos were hot and fresh, made right before you order them, and they were some of the best yak momos I’ve ever had.
Cheese Fungus Soup - 6 RMB ($0.84) per bowl - Dolma mentioned that this Tibetan cheese fungus soup is rare to find nowadays and during this season, so we were lucky to find it. It ate like a porridge and was hearty and filling.
Jokhang Temple - Barkhor Street - One of the most important places in Tibetan Buddhism and in Lhasa is Jokhang Temple, and people often walk 3 circles around the temple each morning and evening.
Tibetan Food Dinner - Finally for dinner, it wasn’t really street food, but it was a local Tibetan style dinner where we tried a number of Tibetan dishes. My favorite was the pickled preserved radish stir fried with yak meat.
It was an amazing day in Lhasa, Tibet, lots of delicious Tibetan food, and a chance to learn a lot about Tibetan culture.
Thank you to Travel China & Tibet (www.travelchinatibet.com/), they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet.

Just finished booking everything, and now I just need to wait for my local travel agency to get my soft sleeper ticket for the Qinghai-Tibet railway. Tibet has been in my bucket list for a very long time, but I ended up going somewhere, every time. I didn't even plan this ahead just like my other trips, just suddenly felt like it's time and asked my mom if she wanted to come along, and she agreed. And finally, I could make it happen this year. This year is such a blessing because I just came back from my previous trip 2 months ago, and now I got Tibet in August, and then Jordan+Egypt in December. I really can't wait for my Tibet trip, I am being so excited every single day. Thanks for the food tour, I always enjoy watching you eating.

tibet under dalai lama was hell for oridinary tibetans. tibetans were slave to the lamas and aristocrats. china freed the serf from lamas and aristocrats. most of tibetans are still like slaves to lamas and tibetan buddhsim is the most corrupted religion in the world. dalai lama had encouraged 156 religous teenagers and young adults to self immolate. the victims were all under 25 years of age and were monks/nuns or very religious kids. if he needs attention than he should have burned himself istead of those young minds. dalai lama have created feud among shugden followers and main branches of tibetan buddhism , since dalai lama demonised shugden dieties and started discriminating and beating the followers . most of the people dont knows that dalai lama gained control over tibet by killing and fighting wars with other lamas .tibet under dalai lama and brainwashe human worshipper will be much poorer than it iss today.
dalai lama is very similar to kims of north korea , both of them were worshiped like god by thier citizens . tibetans are more brainwashed than north koreans. many tibetans believes that drinking dalai lamas urine will cause disease and will give you good karma. still today poorest tibetans prostate all the way from middle of china to palace of dalai lama in lhasa on high dusty tibetan plateau.
dalai lama and his government are torturing tibetans like me who spoke against dalai lama and told the truth about tibetan society and religon with electronic harassments. tibetans diaspora has the most numbers of targeted individual . many people who worship shugden dieties were tortured with psychotronic weapons . some 50+ brainwashed tibetans from 4 different continents are torturing me with 24/7 v2k and Remote neural monitoring harassment. they are not letting us sleep. please share about electronic harassment and targeted individual with your friends. for more info visit www.stopeg.com

Dhou kar Tse bunja I am a Tibetan so stop spreading lies , thousands of Tibetans fled from Tibet when China occupied it with force in 1959. I am a Tibetan refugee living in India, because of His Holiness we got this precious life in another country, we have freedom to live the life with our choice here. He is our spiritual leader who teaches about love, compassion and peace around the world. It’s Chinese government who has turned Tibet into hell with no freedom to speech, media and religion. Thousands of Tibetans have sacrificed their lives revolting against the dictatorship Chinese government. How much the Chinese government paid you to write all this ????people of hongkong are suffering because of Chinese government too, the world need to stop the brutality of the Chinese government.

@@dhoukartsebunja9398 That is the most ridiculous propaganda that I've ever heard...and that Stopeg.com site you linked to reads like the ramblings of paranoid schizophrenic and anyone with a half a mind can tell if 100% fake propaganda!
China is NOT saving Tibet or Tibetan citizens, it's actually hurting them! China is systemically trying to banish all Tibetan culture and history, making it into something only supports the Chinese governments way of thinking. The things the Chinese government has done to Tibet and the Tibetan is people is fundamentally wrong by any standards and should not by tolerated in any way whatsoever. Abducting and torturing Tibetan citizens, trying to brainwash them, the constant security checks and intimidation of it's citizens by the military and police, imprisoning anyone who speaks out about the Dalai Lama or against the Chinese government in anyway, is unfortunately just the tip of the iceberg.
Mainland Chinese citizens are allowed to travel to Tibet without any restrictions, but Tibetans are not allowed to travel to China and are almost never allowed to travel anywhere out of Tibet only on extremely rare circumstances. They trying to turn Tibet into nothing more than a tourist attraction for it's citizens, one that belies the real cultural and spiritual significance of Tibet.
