SHIGATSE, TIBET - Along with Lhasa, Shigatse is one of the most important and largest cities in Tibet. We had the honor to explore Shigatse for the day, learn about the city, eating Tibetan food, and learn about the amazing Tibetan culture. #Shigatse #Tibet #food
Tibetan breakfast - There’s nothing better to eat for breakfast in Tibet than tsampa - roasted barley flour, mixed with yak cheese, yak butter, and sugar, and formed into small hand-squeezed balls. It grows like a loaf of bread in your stomach - it’s so hearty and filling. The best part of the experience was eating it in a local home and watching them as they made it for breakfast, the common way they do everyday for breakfast. The butter tea was excellent.
Tibetan food lunch - We went to a local family restaurant for lunch we we tried a number of Tibetan, and specifically Shigatse foods, including dumpling in soup, a fried bread stuffed with yak, fried sheep lungs, and Tibetan blood sausage. It was a heavy and meaty lunch, and the food was delicious.
Tashilhunpo Monastery - As the palace of the Panchen Lama (second most important spiritual figure in Tibetan Buddhism), the Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the most sacred and important sites in Shigatse. After walking around the temple complex in the morning, we then went into the temple complex in the afternoon.
It was a great day of food, exploring, and learning in Shigatse, Tibet.

I can’t stand nasty people . and there’s plenty of negative people on UA-cam. I made a vid about an incident on UA-cam just recently. they never had a real beef besides a UA-cam beef “ in their life or if they did they looked for someone who can’t defend themselves. they didn’t know who they were messing with because I’m very unassuming because of how I look. this guy at the time had like forty thousand subs but it didn’t really help him . if ur sensitive to mean def don’t watch my vid. I mainly make vids where I cook (there not long mainly just showing the food after I’m done with the cooking part) or do strength feats like my very first upload...stuff I love. and they said “awww look how adorable “ all sarcastic 😂😂😂whoops.

I have a lot of Tibetan friends especially in my neighbourhood in Canada. I showed a few friends this video and they were so surprised to see all the places you went to. It is very hard for them to go back home, lots of visa problems and this video made them feel proud of their country. On their behalf thank you so much for taking the time to visit their beloved home, they really appreciate it ❤️

I love this series. Reminiscent of the Bhutan series. Interesting how certain regions do not have a huge variety of produce and how they diversify what they do have.
Always the most interesting food adventures with Mark and he knows what to say to describe all the different flavors. The scenery of the diverse remote regions is a treat. All the great people of each town make it possible.
This is the closest glimpse and experience that many Tibetans like me in exile will have of our motherland Tibet. Thank you, Mark❤. Seeing all the unique foods of our cuisine in your video, motivates me even more to continue creating and sharing Tibetan recipes with the world 💕
You just have to clear up your mind and take Dalai Lama out of your way! This is the only way you can be free. Be a true Buddhist, not a faked one like Dalai Lama, a political conspiracist occupied by his own ambition and dark kama. Also, stay clear of India's evil provocation for profit at the expenses of the Tibetian, look at how India stands as a country and those misery and inequality among the Indian people; the average of Indian people is way under the living of all the Chinese, spiritually and materially, a fact. there is an identical recipe for cooking
the sheep's paunch
these are usually dishes of Eid el adha, a Muslim religious holiday

Hi both of you, I am extremely sorry I came across both of your replies just now. Well I am not from Shigatse but I am a Tibetan so that's why I know about our land and our history
You might be aware that the Chinese authorities invaded Tibet and occupied our country in 1959 on March 10. So ever since then the Tibetans in Tibet have been prohibited cultural, religious, educational and all sorts of basic human rights. Over 160 Tibetans have also self immolated themselves on fire as a form of protest to reinstate freedom in Tibet.
Do you happens to know about Arleng people or community living in Shigatse/ chengnan province of Tibet ? If so let me know brother I am from India !!

I could hear, how your breathing ,had changed from the high latitude . imagine people who had built the living space . some of those buildings looked more sophisticated than places that has less challenging environments, to build. total respect to those who built the structures, might not even afford , have the breakfast you had while building their city.
