NEPALI STREET FOOD in CRAZY Kathmandu!! 100 Year Old Newari Street Food + MOMO Heaven!

- Welcome to chaotic KATHMANDU the capital of Nepal. Today we’re going for a street food tour in the Patan area of Kathmandu Including a century old shop selling Newari delicacies called Honacha (goo.gl/maps/GJsyRbYEaNHyeRdo9).
No trip to Nepal is complete without trying the world famous Nepali momos! I tried the johl buff momo's, buffalo meat steamed dumplings with an incredibly complex soup/sauce that takes this dish to another level! It's safe to say momo's are my favourite food in Nepal.

I love how kind and respectful the Nepal commenters are under this video. Even when disagreeing about something. Definitely a refreshing change to see manners being used while expressing one’s feelings and opinions. Makes me want to visit Nepal even more now. ❤

Please welcome
Samosas is one of the best food in Nepal that tourists should try.
WELCOME
😂😂😂 that’s coz comments don’t have sound.. Nepalese can b pretty loud when they debate but yes they r still respectful though unless they r with friends then all sorts of foul language comes out.😅
As a Nepali I am so glad that this video exists. You have beautifully presented Nepal, its culture and food. Love this!!!
Another awesome video. I love those little obscure places that are hard to find, too. Can't wait to see what's next!
I appreciate how you chose the small authentic places to eat compared to other fancy restaurants. Great job Luke. Thank You for promoting Nepal and Nepalese food. And, there are still more traditional foods that belong to different tribes and castes. Hope you get a chance to experience them as well.
Another great video and love the edit style, flows well
Amazing video! Nepal looks beautiful, and nice new graphics style too
Heartly welcome in our country and thanks for promoting our country's food.lots of love from nepal
Wow, thank you for these great videos. I really feel like I am right there! I love learning about different cuisines. your filming/editing is awesome
Great video! I had to subscribe! Thank you a million!
Loved this video! It has been such an eye opening opportunity to be able to discover Kathmandu through your videos. I was actually expecting a lot more rice and noodles in the regular Nepalese diet, so I'm pleasantly surprised that there was so much more variety. Looking forward to the next video.
Rice is indeed a staple diet of Nepalese. But since there are different group of ethnicities with their own culture, language, you'll find variety of cuisines in different parts (like newari foods-bara,yomari by Newars, Thakali khana by Thakali ethnicity..etc)
Thank you for visiting Nepal 🙏🙏
Thank you for visiting our beautiful country Nepal🇳🇵
Our pleasure!

Thanks for the very nice video about the 100 year old food stall👍
Momo is originally from Nepal, Kathmandu. To know its history you have to go back to Lichavi dynasty of Nepal . Buddhism and Momo not from China or Tibet but it went from Nepal to Tibet then China then everywhere with our Princess Vrikuti when she had to marry King of Tibet.
Sorry bro but momo was from tibet. Initially momo was only famous among Tuladhars of newari communitu, as they were the main traders to tibet, they would come home marrying tibetan girl with lots of gold as dowry. They were the one who learned cooking momos from tibet. For many years it was popular only among tuladhars community. Later other newar also learned to cook. Then finally it went to other nepali community.
What I heard from my grandparents: Newars from Kathmandu, learned about Momo when they went to Tibet for trades. But the momo in Tibet were different than what we have today. Those Newars experimented momo with buff meat and spices. This led to a different version of momo due to their combinations, which became popular in no time.
😊
Namaste Luke. Thank you for loving and promoting Nepal and Nepali cuisine. Fell in love with your contagious smile, the excitement in your eyes and your humble respectful nature. Please visit Nepal again.

Nothings more controversial than discussing the origins of momo for us Nepalis 😂😂, great video Luke thanks for showing my country in a beautiful light
Origin is Nepal idea is from Tibet. There I solved the entire controversy

omg I cant wait to be back in Nepal and ate those delicious dishes. I miss Nepali dishes a lot. Counting my days. Thank you Luke for sharing your experience.
Awesome video. There are still so many foods belonging to specific castes and tribes in Nepal which are still waiting to be discovered by outside world. You will need to know the locals to try some food as they wont serve them in restaurants. Some for examples are Kinima, Gundruk, Simki, Filingey ko Achar etc These foods are more common to the Eastern part of Nepal. So Rai and Limbu caste people would be right ones to ask about these. All the best. Keep exploring Keep enjoying!!!

Back in Nepal, Honacha used to be our go to place. Miss it so much 😭😭😭😭 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
As someone, who used to be obsessed about Honacha, I have to say that Honacha used to be great but no more, unfortunately. Wish Honacha had maintained its authentic taste. If you really want to try authentic Newari food, just go for Sasa and Lahana.
