This is great! I was told this particular Roof Rack fits the Cayman 987.1 as well. And I will be buying it soon (to haul my bikes). Nice to see a clear video of the install..
How much stuff / what did you manage to fit in to this? I’m wondering if I should do this for this Xmas break road trips (summer here In NZ). I do have an 08 wrx sti hatch I could take too but would be fun to give the 911 it’s first summer trip
Hey mate, im currently touring around Europe in my 997.1 Turbo and with no roof box i was getting 10.6 litres per 100klm. I put on roofracks on with storage box the brand is Cruz and I've been getting a very similar result, 10.7 / 10.8 litres per 100klm. Convert it to MPG if you like. Hope it helps. Im getting around 500klm 550klm per tank sitting on 120klm.
I would agree with other posters, I have found that my roof box Thule Evolution 900 (600L) had made very little difference to fuel consumption on my BMW 5 series Tourings over the last decade, E34, E39 and E61 …. not really noticeable. I was also surprised and have checked many tankfuls when using the box. I guess Thule are doing a good job with aerodynamics. It was a different story, when I put four bikes on a carrier at the back of the E34 …. like towing a parachute 😮
Must say something like a roof box, bike etc on a car like that doesn’t look any cooler.
