Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries was one of the best series of murder mysteries made in recent years. Excellent cast and stories. I was so sad when they stopped making them. Glad someone had sense enough to make a movie....maybe we'll luck out and get a couple of movies in the near future. Can't wait until it hits the US.
It absolutely infuriates me that the show was cancelled when it was. Especially as, speaking as an Australian, there's a lot more to the story than it simply being cancelled. The majority of original shows and films made in Australia are funded by the government because our industry is so small and can't financially compete with markets like the US and UK. 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' was very successful for an Australian show and absolutely didn't get cancelled due to a lack of popularity. What actually killed the show was our conservative government viciously slashing the funding to our public broadcaster ABC for their own very corrupt agenda. Around the time the show was coming out, our conservative government here began stripping the ABC of a huge chunk of its funding and started running a smear campaign against the public broadcaster. They did it to essentially silence the ABC as it's also the most-trusted, watched and non-biased news source in the country and the journalists were doing their job too well- holding the politicians to account for their policies and pointing out their lies and corruption. And they hated it. Because most of our industry relies on government funding, a lot of it directly through the ABC, the politicians basically massacred our film and TV industry in the process. And 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' was one of its notable early casualties. The ABC funding for any "high" budget shows was simply gone. So, in spite of it being critically loved and very successful in Australia and abroad, 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' got axed. Corrupt politicians literally killed the show with their temper tantrum. And us Australians get to see ourselves onscreen even less. :/
Can we please get a 4th season? The new, modern spinoff is stupid, and we want PHRYNE! It would be wonderful going into the 2020s with another season (hopefully more) of our favorite 1920s period show.

I watch this on Ovation TV (Direct TV) every Wed morning. It is also on This station on Tues afternoon. Of course, I have all 3 seasons on DVD so I can see it anytime. I can’t wait to see this. I waited a long time. However, it probably won’t be in the US and I will have to wait to get it on DVD.
I love her. I haven't watched the replacement because for me, I fell in love with the original show. The actors, the plots, the hormones and the falling in love. Please bring the series back.

I just bought the full 3 seasons 16 DVD set and the DVD of the movie! My evenings for the next weeks are set up and I will get to practice my understanding of Australien English (So far I am the U.S.A. type Southerner type). That will keep me sharp, thanks to the wonderful crew and the perfect production staff! I love Miss Fisher, needless to say!
