So remember this visit was more than a month ago and in a time of year when crowds are very light and Six Flags parks are known to have lots of closures. Later in the season, there won't be nearly as many rides closed. That being said, in my experience this park does experience more closures than just about any other park.
If half your attractions aren’t working, then do the right thing and tell people this before they go in and don’t charge full price admission!!!!! You may be able to fleece them that day, but odds are they won’t go back.
Sucks that a half working park is still a thing that exists especially during peak season. More frustrating when the park opens and rides don't open with it.
Wendel Cleghorn Think about it this way. The rides actually WERE operating but had problems. Would you want to open rides with problems for people to get hurt? It’s unexpected. They payed at the beginning when most of them were running but they had problems. And Batman is under construction so Harley Quinn can’t run. Also he went at a bad time. He should’ve when during good weather like the sunmer
Reasons why things are closed: V2: paint, it's back open. Will be getting some new features in the future. Penguin: Batman debris control + staffing HQCC: Safety while Batman was being constructed Tasmanian Devil: It's a HUSS ride, hard to get parts + limited budget (it's why they gave up on VooDoo) VooDoo (Top Spin): devastating damage, not worth the $ to fix it. It costs a lot more than people realize to demo these things and have them recycled. Elmer Fuds Weather Balloons: Low priority maintenence That plot use to be a water play structure with 2 sides and a main tower, it got the axe YEEEARS ago Mini Train: Gas costs $ + staffing Tavas: staffing. Why staff a kids section if there are few kids. Monkey Business: staffing It really depends on the day that you go. By th looks of it you went the first weekday of daily ops. The surrounding schools are still in session and most of their employees (high schoolers) are in the middle of finals. It would be fiscally unwise to run the entire park, all rides open, with few guests. It's more due to the disconnect between the park and cooperate deciding wen they want the park open. I'm not trying to make excuses necessarily, but it'd be best to give the park a fair shot by visiting on a mid summer Friday - Sunday. Judging it when it's not ready as other parks like CGA are isn't that fair.
I understand staffing issues, but I think it’s wrong to charge full price and not warn guests ahead of time that so many rides will be closed during there visit. Down the road Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk advertises “limited operation days”. I think it would make sense for SFDK to do the same, cause to have guests unknowingly paying full price for a half park is in my opinion unacceptable
@@IntheLoopPodcast They have the rides that are closed listed in the app that's updated daily... Also most people don't pay ticket price either online nor at the booths. Still think this isnt a fair look at the park to portray it as "rides were closed on the weekday that I went so therefore the park is low quality because I had a bad experience that one singular day".
Updating an app day of doesn’t really help when you get to the park at opening and booked a pricey flight from the other side of the country. I think it is 100% fair to judge the park, I went on an advertised normal operation day and this was the experience I received. I got to a ton of theme parks across the country at all different times of year and this was the most closed rides I’ve ever seen.
@@IntheLoopPodcast they also have a drastically different budget that those other parks. It's like evaluating it on the same points against Animal Kingdom. If I were to want to make a tour video of CGA, I wouldn't evaluate it or make said video if I noticed that half the rides were closed, because that wouldn't be a fair evaluation. It would create a false narrative and perspective that the park is not good. It is good, but don't go tona SF park that has a thinner budget that most that is open year round expecting every. single. ride. to be open every single day. That's not how parks run. Operations are dynamic and it's no different at any other park. These were clearly pre summer ops with pre summer preparation.
Those looking to come here: be advised this was filmed at the start of may when they're still prepping for the summer. The park is well run with ~90%+ rides open. This doesn't really show what the park is actually like imho.
If this is in April or May then yes you went during high maintenance season for the summer most rides will be closed for maintenance and staffing. Teens are still in school which is 85% if there staffing. Also that too Spin has been sitting for at least 5yrs. I went in 2014 and it was looking just like that. I agree they should’ve and should charge half price early season when rides are in maintenance
Everyone chill in the comment section. Recently there have been problems with Discovery Kingdom, Great America, Over Texas, Fiesta Texas. I don’t get why SFA closes their attractions tho
Also after finishing the whole video, maintenance at this park is so small and slow that usually when the ride goes down, we would be standing around waiting for them to show for like 45 minutes and then they'd spend 20 minutes attempting to fix it
What I will say as someone who used to work there, when Batman replaced the go-karts, the rumor was the go-karts were going to be relocated to where the elephant rides used to take place
I work at this park, basically no department is properly staffed. There is not only a lack of skilled workers available but they cut pretty much every corner they can budget wise, they just flat out don't hire enough people and upper management does not do their jobs at all. You can go months in a department other than culinary and retail without seeing a single new hire, it makes no sense. Everyone is losing their minds. Also the topspin ride costs more to remove than to replace, so it's been sitting there for like 10 years. We do our best but we can only do so much to keep it clean and running. The animals are very well taken care of though.
Ok I live by this park and this was when they were going through inspection I went today and they had all but the water parks open because its soon to be winter. this might be a weird question but theres some conflicting information so did anything stick out as abusive to the animals? i know they got into hot water for elephant rides and the use of bullhooks but i think recently with them getting rid of their elephants and with small-scale accreditation with the zaa and american humane certification they seem to be going through a change in attitude. just from the outset i can appreciate the fact that their tiger show isnt particularly circus-esk and the tigers are seemingly only asked to participate in relatively natural tiger behaviors such as jumping and climbing and swimming but i rly can't make a judgement call bc i havent been there so that's why im asking
I hate coming to this park when its super busy. Takes almost an hour and a half just to get to the parking when traffic is bad. Terrible infrastructure in that area.
I work at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom doing face painting...FACE PAINTING...what's more annoying is visitors asking me if I can open up a ride for them with a serious face -_- I'm like bish, do I look like I can do that? my booth says face paint!!

this might be a weird question but theres some conflicting information so did anything stick out as abusive to the animals? i know they got into hot water for elephant rides and the use of bullhooks but i think recently with them getting rid of their elephants and with small-scale accreditation with the zaa and american humane certification they seem to be going through a change in attitude. just from the outset i can appreciate the fact that their tiger show isnt particularly circus-esk and the tigers are seemingly only asked to participate in relatively natural tiger behaviors such as jumping and climbing and swimming but i rly can't make a judgement call bc i havent been there so that's why im asking
Not that I can tell from my visit
I hate coming to this park when its super busy. Takes almost an hour and a half just to get to the parking when traffic is bad. Terrible infrastructure in that area.
Aw you went on a horrible day. Usually everything is open that sucks.
How come all the kids areas are closed?
I would assume because it was a weekday in the slower time of year and budget
I work at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom doing face painting...FACE PAINTING...what's more annoying is visitors asking me if I can open up a ride for them with a serious face -_- I'm like bish, do I look like I can do that? my booth says face paint!!
So true about Kong
Why do Batman the ride have yellow stickers I think I'm scared of that
I’ve only been to two six flags parks and those are great adventure and six flags America

Good lord nothing is open.
It’s wild, not a roller coaster I won’t go on, but that lasso ride for some reason I’m like nah I’m good 😂👍
3:45 is very, not smooth I can say
Ima go there tommorow
Unfortunately all of the Six Flags parks in the country are closed until the end of the month
Unacceptable operations, you should write letter of complaint
BeadingBoyBling if u have a seasonal pass then whats the problem? u can go other times lmao.
California ❤️
The Legend Taunted by Closed Rides at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!!
It was a rough day to visit
Unfortunately bad experiences like this have become par for the course at this park.
"wouldn't be a six flags park without a larson loop" But what about Magic Mountain?
One of the very few without one
Don't mind rides being closed but shouldn't have to pay regular prices
I want there
Like, if u can’t decide which ride is better in this park between Medusa and joker
Even the shark was broken down
