I grew up in Atlanta and went to Six Flags all the time in the late 80s and early 90s. The area near the kids section where the entrance to the Joker coaster is used to be a large play area with elevated rope nets to climb on, slides, etc. Thanks for the video, it brings back such good memories.
And used to be something before that it was the horror cave a walkthrough haunted house which open up 1968 and ran through 1982 1983 it became Pac-Man land
I remember the Georgia Cyclone when it was wood was the absolute worst Rollercoaster I've ever been on lol!!!! Hella rickety!!!! Ended up with a headache everytime guaranteed. Fun times!!!!
Thanks for the tour! I first went to Six Flags Over Georgia in 1967 when it opened. I was just a few months old. I went every year from 1967 to 1991. The Hanson Cars used to be toward the front to the right of the entrance in the British section. Originally, it opened with six themed areas based on six flags that have flown over Georgia: France, Britain, Spain (now the children's section), the CSA, the USA, and Georgia. Later, a Lickskillet area (separate from the CSA), a Cotton States Exposition area (now the Metropolis area), and a pirate-themed area (now Gotham City) were added. Thunder River used to be a Jungle-Cruise-type ride that fit the French theme of that area. The overlook over Thunder River was the original loading area for the cruise ride. Monster Plantation/Mansion was originally called Tales of the Okefenokee when it opened and was completely different. The USA section originally had a Sid and Marty Krofft puppet show that closed when the ill-fated World of Sid and Marty Krofft theme park opened in what is now CNN Center downtown. The parachute ride was in the USA section and called The Gasp.
Lickskillet was always Lickskillet. The Confederacy went from the upper Skybuckets (that was named the Confederate Station) around to where the USA section is and included the Monster PLANTATION of course. Walking downhill from Monster Plantation past the kids area was where Lickskillet started, you walked under the sign that used to denote it near 28:23
Six flags over ga is my hometown park. I feel like we need a new hyper coaster possibly, even if we can fix up the Goliath which looks like trash. Now I think about it, we need to repaint all the older rides. Dude when you mentioned the dolphin stadium, my mom dove off the 82ft high dive into the dolphin cage in the 1990’s.
Just Gaming Around it’s my home park to! I will say I’ve only been 3 times this season and my last visit I had the worst experience of all the years going witch is about 20 and the employees was rude they didn’t wanna help the ride operations was horrible taking anywhere from 1-3 min just to get a train loaded and unloaded it’s ridiculous. I don’t understand if it’s just they can’t keep good employees or if they just aren’t paying them enough or what and also twisted cyclone won’t let you have a fanny pack on and you have to purchase a locker lol that’s ridiculous last I saw that’s not a loose article so idk what’s up with that rule I just get upset cause I’ve been giving sfog good reviews in all my years going and now it just looks bad in 2018 I hope 2019 is a much better season
The train is the relative boundary to the original park. That is why it is so small. My guess is Wynne had gotten wind that Disney was building in FL so decided to cash in ahead of Walt Disney World’s opening.
I used to go as a kid in the 80's and it's pretty cool to see how some things have stayed the same like the Lickskillet area and the hilltop carousel, though the areas that did change make it look like "generic corporate amusement park USA." It's great the Monster Mansion/Plantation is still there. I thought for sure that'd be re-done as a superhero themed travesty. Hopefully the inside hasn't changed much. I forgot about the hills, they were rough as a kid, I can only imagine them as an adult. I liked the sky buckets. There was never a line and it was a good break to sit down. I'm glad to see the Dahlonega Mine Train is still there. I guess the name makes sense if you're from GA. The park has changed a lot but there's enough of the little things to bring back some excellent memories.
rly love the vibe of sfog compared to other six flags parks. its on a beautiful piece of property and they don't have a bad ride in their lineup. there are a few holes in their lineup, namely a spinning and launch coaster, but i think they're poised for some notable improvement in the coming years bc of how well they did in the pandemic and how long their season is compared to other six flags parks
Z force!!! I miss the heck out of that coaster. Free Fall and the other mine train that used to exist 80's. I love this park so much!!!! Thank you so much for making these videos. I have moved away and can't go to the park anymore. This was my safe/happy place. Its sad to see the Splash Mountain isn't running anymore. I always get so sad when a ride goes away. Thunder River is Amazing! I really enjoy it. I love the scenery. The wheelie was a lot of fun! The log flumes!
They removed a loop on Mindbender? I last went on that in the 80's. It had two proper loops and another that they counted as a loop but was more at a slant than a proper loop. Those rides were great in the 80's and the park was fantastic for a kid. We'd be dropped off at 9am and picked up at 7pm, it was a safe/happy space like you say. Yeah, sad to see Splash Mountain (or Splash Water Falls?) lying dormant. I don't like to see that when there used to be energy and life there. Crazy how it has changed but there's still a lot of the old stuff to bring back memories.
What day of the week is this? I've never seen it this uncrowded. Been going here since 1973. I can think of several rides no longer there. Spinning Top, Drunken Barrels, Sky Bucket, Horror Cave, the other log flume, Chevy Show, Z Force, Mini Mine Train, Looping Starship. Great walkthrough by the way.
I used to go in the 80's and going during the weekdays during the summer were always less crowded like this. And when rain was forecast, even less crowded.
Few thoughts: I LOVE the “hulk like” roar of Batman the ride. Brings back so many memories. I always wondered why they wouldn’t just bite the bullet and put some moving sidewalks in for the hills. Haha She’s thinking of “Looping Star ship” and that was at the back on the park. The “plane ride” you’re talking about is my earliest memory at SFOG . I was probably 4. I used to go to SFOG literally every weekend and some week days and I NEVER got to ride Deja Vu. I boarded ONCE and were evac’d immediately after because surprise surprise it broke! Lol
She wears short shorts. Dang every girl wears short shorts at Six Flags haha. Nice. I haven't been since 86. Strange thing is seeing those sights and hearing those sounds I can actually smell the smells of that place. Starscreamer replaced a better ride called The Wheelie. The old Lick Skillet area. Where you said you thought the park was going to expand that is where the old back gate entrance was in the 80s when I went. Kinda strange and nice at the same time that they're playing the same music from the 80s when I was there lol. The parachute was called The Great Gasp. Thanks for the video you two. It was great to spend 45 minutes in the park again.
I've been going to Six Flags over Georgia since I was a kid before the great american scream machine and that area of the park and the Gotham area opened. Basically since the early 70's. There have been so many changes since those days. If your ever in the Atlanta area again I would love to get with you to share my memories of the park over the years and the rides that are no longer there and what was in different areas of the park over the years. It used to be more theme park than what it is now mostly a coaster park. It's really interesting how the park has evolved over the years. If you would want to video our walk through the park that would be fine by me. I have a season pass and parking pass and live just north of Austell in Rome so on my part the only thing is finding a time to go. If you have a few more old timers like me that would be interested you could make a great video on the history of SFOG.
I wish Six Flags Fiesta Texas would open some of their big rides early...last time I went, several of the coasters didn’t open until 20 minutes after the park opened
my favorite rides that is no longer there, i may sound stupid, the wheelie, free fall was pretty awesome, the parachute ride like you mentioned, the looping starship, and yes im one of the ones that loved the viper, 63 times in a row one sunday cause nobody was there.
Thanks for doing this. It's been years since I've been able to visit this park and it used to be my 'home' park along with Dollywood. A nostalgic video trip for me.
The park initially had a mostly-coherent theme of local Georgia history, but it's gone downhill ever since they started wracking it with corporate IPs in the eighties.
Omg we just got back to the UK from here, what a depressing park, the rides were fun but the staff were so miserable and rude and the place was soooo dirty. We luckily didn’t need the Flashpass. Ops were pretty awful but I did love the rides.
I miss shake, rattle, and roll and Free Fall. And I the Great Gasp was the parachute. Looping Starship was Goliath's extended cue. Airplane ride (forget the name) is where Achrophobia is. I also miss the Wheelie, which is where Sky Screamer is.
Loved the video by the way. This is my home park. Live and work at parks in Orlando now, but I worked here when I was in high school. I only go now every couple of years and I'm over due for a visit. Brings back a lot of memories, especially when you were talking about the changes. Keep up the good work. Hope to run into you guys in Orlando.
The Looping Starship and the Great Gasp sat where Goliath 's station and queue are. They were actually removed to make way for Goliath. The swinging ship, called the Flying Dutchman, sat in Batman's current spot. I remember back when the Mindbender was brown before they turned that area into Gotham City. The Wheelie was replaced by Skyscreamer, The Bumper Cars were replaced by Justice League, Viper was replaced by Superman. I absolutely loved DejaVu and hated to see it go. Also Bugs Bunny Boomtown was previously called Bugs Bunny World. Not a huge name change.
Hi,I'm from California I enjoyed your walk through ! I was in Six Flag when I was 15 yrs old and I'm am now 65 I don't know if that's the same park ? So many years have past and I don't see anything that looks familiar ! The main thing I remember was Green Water(treated) ! You did a good job on making the video !
yo he was so right about them adding something where deja vu used to be but maybe not about the coaster but the area because that’s where they’re putting the new pendulum coaster
The Looping Spaceship and the parachute drop ride was where goliath is now...think there was also a pirate ship ride there as well....the spinning plane ride is what turned into acrophobia as well....zforce was another coaster that is no longer there, it was in front of the Blue Hawk (ninja) coaster if I remember right....loved the video, would love to see more like this!!!
Thank you for this, I loved this walk through video, it’s really helpful and entertaining too. We’re going in September and this has helped us plan our day :)

evan lohbrunner yes. For example, earlier in the year there was a cheerleader competition and they also use it for fright fest. They make it a maze where zombies come for you
I need to go back to six flags over Georgia, I been there 2013 lots a things have changed, I only rode sky screamer, defunct Georgia cyclone, and wild e coyote blaster, ninja change to blue hawk, kings island is my home park

Didn't they also used to have some water slides over there as well?
Bro frr but for me it was in the 2000’s
I like the full park walkthroughs, I watch the entire videos especially if I never been to the parks. It gives great insight of what is at the parks.
I remember the Georgia Cyclone when it was wood was the absolute worst Rollercoaster I've ever been on lol!!!! Hella rickety!!!! Ended up with a headache everytime guaranteed. Fun times!!!!
Thanks for the tour!

I went to Six Flags back in the late 60s and it is nearly unrecognizable to me now!

Bruh Goliath the second best ride there
Same
Codeman 1115 lol now look at it in 2020😭😂 closed

I’m going this weekend and I’m so excited I haven’t been there for three years
I haven't been to Six Flags over Georgia in about 7 years. The cyclone and American Scream Machine are my two favorite roller coasters at Six Flags.
Thank you so much for making this video! Me and my family are going soon and I wanted to know what I would expect, and this video did just that!
Wow! I had No idea Molly was a Georgia girl! I loved the viper coaster when they had it!
Love all your videos. Would be really neat to see this type of video shot on a 360 degree camera. Watching in VR would be awesome.
Please do more of these videos
My thoughts exactly.
Thank you this style of video helped me out!
Thumbs up on park walkhoughs.
Robert Wright c
thank you! i am not new to six flags but each time we go there, we always couldn't find the entrance to the other coasters. your vid helped a lot!
i haven’t been to this park in so long since i moved :( i really wanna go tho. hopefully this summer

Idc what anyone says, the great american scream machine is a classic and is quite the experience to ride
@@geetarplayer3611 its like an art-house horror movie. not necessarily the most comfortable thing to sit through but man is it nuts to experience
Great review. This park is on our wish list to go to!!! We enjoy the full park walk-throughs, but your ride reviews are great too!
The first butterfly loop on blue hawk is 1 of 2 in the world

Very enjoyable and well done. I liked the commentary and the point of view.
Love this video need to do more parks . Six Flags is my home park went this past Saturday. Twisted Cyclone is NUTS!!! Wow

The 2nd six flags I been to. Loved it

Great vid it’s smaller than Six Flags in Denver but I still wanna check this park out thanks to this walk thru style !!!
Thank you for the video! It was very informative.
Damn six flags is so thrown together compared to Disney or universal..
yeah its not even in the same league
The park initially had a mostly-coherent theme of local Georgia history, but it's gone downhill ever since they started wracking it with corporate IPs in the eighties.
Yes!!! I like this style of walk through!! Do more of these!!! You need one of Kings Island and Cedar Point!
Omg we just got back to the UK from here, what a depressing park, the rides were fun but the staff were so miserable and rude and the place was soooo dirty. We luckily didn’t need the Flashpass. Ops were pretty awful but I did love the rides.
Loving the molly commentary !!! She is the best
I miss shake, rattle, and roll and Free Fall. And I the Great Gasp was the parachute. Looping Starship was Goliath's extended cue. Airplane ride (forget the name) is where Achrophobia is. I also miss the Wheelie, which is where Sky Screamer is.
C Frank B II when I was little the wheelie was my absolute favorite ride
I like this style of video's with your opinions and thoughts and also sharing the history of the park. And i love the tips and tricks.
Please do more of these this was a really amazing video
I'm so glad someone besides myself thinks Monster Plantation is one of the best rides of the park. I live in CO now but I miss this ride for sure.
For sure! I heard nothing has changed on it except they have new LED lights. I hope the voices are the same but who knows?
Loved the video by the way. This is my home park. Live and work at parks in Orlando now, but I worked here when I was in high school. I only go now every couple of years and I'm over due for a visit. Brings back a lot of memories, especially when you were talking about the changes. Keep up the good work. Hope to run into you guys in Orlando.
Love these type of park videos. Also "love" the fact that it's 90 plus degrees and yet Splashwater Falls and the Log Jamboree are both closed.
There’s a brand new ride, Pandemonium!!! It’s awesome
Do more of these videos. This was great.
Great view. Thanks!
The Looping Starship and the Great Gasp sat where Goliath 's station and queue are. They were actually removed to make way for Goliath. Love the guy hiding stylish from the camera at 35:30 Thanks for the ride thru the park!
Thanks for thgreat review! Going to Georgia this week so definitely looking forward to go here!re
Hey Legend that first bridge is used by the railroad as well. SFOG is my homepark...great video
You guys are such great hosts!
love to do a video with my memories of 1968 until today at six flags ga
Love these full theme park walk tours. Especially someone who plays a shit load of Planet Coaster
Brian H I agree
They didn't do a good job with the layout but I'm looking forward to going there hopefully this spring to ride pandemonium. ( good job on the vid )
The Funhouse is the original horror I cave the haunted house that open up at Six Flags Over Georgia 1968 through 1982
I really enjoyed the full park walkthrough it was nice and you really got to take it all in
There was a looping starship in the area with the the great gasp.
Liked this style of video! Loved the full walk through.
Great vedio of my home park. I actually prefer going on week days like you guys did. Next stop Twisted Cyclone.
The NINJA and Mindbender are classics, they turned Mindbender into a Riddler ride. Also Great American Scream Machine
I love it at Six Flags.
6:11
They had a space shuttle somewhere
yo he was so right about them adding something where deja vu used to be but maybe not about the coaster but the area because that’s where they’re putting the new pendulum coaster
I haven’t been but I’m dyeing to go but I’m going July 13 I’m so excited
I love six flags I’m going today lol. This is my hometown park
Darrell D I believe the flying Dutchman was Down close to where the Batman ride is
Dahlonega is a town in north Georgia that had a gold mine in the 1800s
She was right it was called looping starship
Thank you for this, I loved this walk through video, it’s really helpful and entertaining too. We’re going in September and this has helped us plan our day :)
also did they take out the bull that use to ram the door in the kids part of the park? That was a highlight of my childhood.
I believe so
Back in the days of HR PuffnStuff, the Chevy Show, Okefenokee Swamp Ride, and Jean Ribouts River Boat Ride.
I always miss you guys when you come to my park!😂
One of the real and best review of SFOG. Good knowledge of history and good review of the rides. One of the best parks in the country with lots of vegatation and clean now. Yes they use YOUNG teenagers to run the rides so your dispatch times and rude level of the young folks need work.
Molly for President 2020
😊~ _Such a cool video! This is my Home Park and I miss it. Are the Drunkin Barrels still there?_
They are not
yhe back gate used to b where gocarts are now n thats where looping star ship was also the sky buckets used to go to that area of park in early 80s n they had 2 log flumes
The looping star ship was also over there where Goliath is. It wasn't a pirate ship
Fab video chaps. We’re coming there next year, can you use go pros on the rides please? Cheers
Not at this park
Loved the video this is my home park
Are you guys Atlanta natives? This video is well anticipated by many. I'm still stuck in South Carolina without hope of leaving soon. I'm caregiver for my uncle and his daughter; however, I was hired in Buckhead 2016---but couldn't leave. Thanks again for this video.
Molly grew up in the Atlanta area, we both live in Orlando now
Orlando is nice for living---but travel with lots of ice.
Looks more like a state fairgrounds than a theme park
The axis chemical plant (Batman stunt show) is now used to host competitions.
evan lohbrunner yes. For example, earlier in the year there was a cheerleader competition and they also use it for fright fest. They make it a maze where zombies come for you
Mathew Cruz wait, you watch etn
evan lohbrunner yessssss
I want Nikita to win but what she did to Colleen made me hurt
I need to go back to six flags over Georgia, I been there 2013 lots a things have changed, I only rode sky screamer, defunct Georgia cyclone, and wild e coyote blaster, ninja change to blue hawk, kings island is my home park
Cool they have thunder River six flags St Louis has a thunder River ride on a hot day in St Louis it's a great cool off ride
Good video. Please do more.
What's the name of the song at 6.55 playing. Just curious
Six flags over Georgia is a great six flags I haven't been since they open up deja vu roller coaster ride
Is their water slides and pools here ?
Yes
Are you guys going to have any Hersheypark Videos?
Look for some from both me and Clint this month
Last time I went, I walked around with beer and cocktails with no issues.
It was like the larcen looper and they had a swinging pirate ship too
my bad on starship it was up with great gasp parachute it was the wheelie on lickskillet n z force was where blue hawk formerly ninja is now
Six flags needs a giga coaster, but I don’t think this one will ever get one due to height limits 🙁
