  • Medicare has now expanded coverage for CGM use among people with type 2, in part because of studies by companies like Dexcom. We’ll talk about those findings and learn more about the US release of the G7.
Dexcom Chief Operating Officer Jake Leach gives us information on app updates, talks about CGM for people with type 2 and gestational diabetes, pump integration for the G7, smoothing - and what that means - and a lot more.

Great updates!!! Super excited for the future roll of them! Also, Garmin recently partnered with Dexcom to provide updates through the watch. So we are definitely heading in the right direction to allow people to be informed of their health!

You're already talking about the G8!
When the heck will the G7 be integrated with the Tandem t:slimx2 pump??
    First things first!

Thanks for this informative video. I can't wait until Medicare covers the DEXCOM for those not using insulin. A CGM has become important in my life to understand what works best in my life.

I’m having enough trouble trying to find the sensors in stock in my rural community. I need it so I don’t die in my sleep.

I'm just getting started using the G7 since my Medicare now covers it. I was very annoyed and disappointed to find that the G7 app only works with a limited number of Android phones. I have a Motorola phone that's only 18 months old. Why is compatibility is so limited and when will compatibility be expanded? The little receiver is so primitive and hard to use. I'm disabled and on Medicare, so I don't have the $$ to replace a perfectly good phone with $1,000 iPhone or Samsung or Google phone? Help?

Why do you think people aren’t adjusting their insulin to counteract high BC readings?

My G7 is so unreliable that out of 4 sensors, I had 4 sensor failures! I am afraid to keep my numbers low in the evenings, because I tend to go low overnight. Without a dependable CGM I am afraid to treat!!! I have to leave my high numbers for safety.

After I started using the CGM, I discovered my levels were dropping drastically at night. Sometimes down to 50. when it starts going down, I immediately ate a piece of fruit to raise it out of the danger zone. Then I realized this was raising my overall average. I get fairly high readings in the afternoon. I now wait awhile before trying to bring my level back up. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago. Everyone told me what a great job I was doing. Turns out it had very little to do with my effort.

I don't understand why it couldn't be adapted to androids as well. Iphones are so expensive.
I am grateful for the updates.

Your videos are so informative. Thank you for spreading awareness. I would like to share what is currently happening to me. I am a D2 . Have been on the Dexcom g6 for a year and would like to upgrade with the g7. Medicare is refusing to cover my g7 because they will only cover the reader every 5 years. My only option is to pay out of pocket for my reader even though I never use it ( I use my smartphone)and also the g6 reader will not work with the g7. This seems a big mis step with Medicare. Any ideas or suggestions?

They are never going to pay more than they have to.

I have a hard time with the fact that medicare only covers people who are DIABETIC and not people who are just HYPOGLYCEMIC alone. So because of that, I have to pay about $200 for the cgm and $100 for receiver. You guys should adjust that.
