I was diagnosed 47 years ago (When surviving a Type I Diagnosis by 25 years was considered remarkable!) and started with five drops of urine in the test tube to test my glucose levels. It was essentially useless, but it was all that was available. Then after several technological false starts, I started doing real-time "finger sticks" four times a day. This allowed much better control. Now I've been on G6 for the last 2 years and, while I do not like its accuracy variations, I have come to rely on it. It has awakened me with low-level alarms a number of times, and that, I really have to say, is what makes the system so valuable. Waiting for G7 with more than mild anticipation! Please tell me if and how frequently the G7 gives "Sensor Error -- Please Wait."
I am 65 yrs old and have been a type 1 since age 9. I remember also doing the urine test for sugar in the test tube. Crazy looking back then too what is happening now. It's like going from the stone ages to space age technology also remembering my mom had to sterilize a glass syringe with no disposable syringes at that time.
I have also been diabetic for a long time, just over 52 years, and remember the glass stainless syringe, and urine test, that test told you too late there was a problem, I got reasonably good at feeling the high so would just do a calculated guess to fix it. My endocrinologist then said I had better control than other patients. I went on to blood tests when they became available. I have been on Dexcom G6 CGM for 6 months and TSlim pump for a month, 2 weeks in bolus mode then iq switched on after basal rates established, Much less to carry around, but at considerable cost. Still worth it.
Quiet mode is cool! That’s a good feature for attending live performances like the theater or cirque du soleil where an alarm could be quite disruptive! :)
EXACTLY EXACTLY!!! It just gives you that peace of mind to enjoy things without the anxiety of disruptions which is a pretty fabulous gift! Especially for a musician!!!! And Cirque Du Soleil!! 😘❤️😍🎶 🎻 🤡
Agreed. I can think of many situations where a brief pause in the alarms would be good: wedding ceremonies, funerals, job interviews, etc. I keep mine on vibrate-only most of the time, and don't usually mind it, but even that could be awkward in a job interview.
Great information! Well done Andrea! But are there really no negatives (like tiny tiny little ones)? I don't hear about any anywhere! The G7 seems to be a perfect CGM and I thought noone and nothing was ever perfect:) I guess this is an exception confirming the rule!
Oh my gosh - you're amazing!!!!!! Congratulations and my hats off to you for living with T1D for so many years - give us your secrets!! You're clearly doing something right!!
Wow, you've really seen it all! What a legend! My late great uncle was Type 1 and he was born in 1913. I believe he was diagnosed around the advent of Insulin. I can't imagine what trouble he went through over the years just to stay alive, but he ended up living to a ripe old age of 93!
Wow! I was born in 1965. Are you still in good health? Did you get interested early on in maintaining the best possible control with a strict diet? I read Dr Bernstein's book many years ago. I don't know if you are familiar with his story of course. He got type ONE at 11 and is alive and even active here on UA-cam at 88! He follows a very low carb diet and has normal glucose all the time. He doesn't agree that an A1C of 7 is good enough. He eats so little carbohydrate that he doesn't even use fast acting insulin. He thinks the diabetics who eat just like everyone else/whatever they want do develop complications eventually. He says it's next to impossible to not have rollercoaster 🎢 blood sugars if you eat lots of carbohydrate and use lots of fast acting insulin. Others feel that now with pumps and CGM's it is possible to eat however you want and still maintain good control. Any thoughts about about any of this?
I am a 65 yrs old and was diagnosed td 1 in '66 at age 9 going thru the urine test in a test tube and my mom sterilizing glass syringes too now with insulin pumps and CGMs is crazy!!!!!!
@@barryreadeau9763 I often fantasize about having been born a few decades earlier ... except for the thought I having to manage my diabetes, back then.
Sounds great especially the smaller size because the G6 shows under light weight clothes. Also to be able to use your arm and allow your stomach to rest. How do I find out how I might qualify to switch? I am type 2 and have been on Dexcom 6 for approximately three to four years. 🙏🏾
I'm looking forward to it, especially the shorter warm up/no warm up time. We have a longer wait for it here in Canada, but I'm hoping by the time we do get it, it will already be integrated with T:slim.
6:29 When people voice these concerns about ignoring alarms, I think it is important to explain that after you took glucose to correct the low, the BG will not instantly rise. It takes about 10 minutes for the small intestine etc. to absorb that glucose. It makes no sense for the urgent low alert to keep shouting at you even after you took your glucose, *especially* during a bad low when you are already anxious and stressed out, so that update in the app is great. Also, you mention the much thinner profile. Does this alleviate compression lows? Those are an issue for me with the G6, but I typically am a side sleeper, so I just place the G6 on the arm that I currently don't sleep on. And speaking of arms, is it correct that for the G7 the abdomen is no longer an officially approved site, and you are supposed to only use the arms now?
With the G6 you have the option for the alarm to put OK in the app. And you can via the setup define how long he has to be quiet after that. So normally when putting the OK you can put it quiet for 15 minutes and when then it is still to low, you will got a new alarm. But you have no alarms during the time it takes normally to rise the blood sugar again. But I agree with this reaction that communication about what and why and how with your colleagues or others you are regularly are together is essential. It is the key issue to make it possible to treat your illness in the best way. In my experience it is either exceptional that then they do not understood. In many cases they are worrying that it is going well when the alarm came up again after some time. When they not do that in that case, that say a lot of their attitude, not yours.
I see most people using the G6 and now the G7 in the back of the arm. When I have tried using that location for my G6 2 things happen; 1. I get pressure lows from sleeping on my side and 2. I get notifications from my Tandem that it can't find the sensor randomly (too far away). Because of these issues, I wear my G6 in my upper thighs. Do we think these will be fixed with the G7?
Thank you so much!! I am absolutely going to make more videos more often moving forward - this is definitely my intention! I've had a bit of a break recently and am going to do an updates video - but I want to get back on releasing videos more regularly - so yes! For sure!!!
Really looking forward to the G7 getting here in the states. Probably not worth upgrading my son until they have integration with Omnipod 5 though. It'll also be interesting to see if the pump companies will need to update their PDM/app systems to be compatible with the G7 as well.
The smartest that I should be in the mind of all at this time should be investing in different income flows that do not depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver and digital coins (BTC, Eth ...).
My uncle of Luisiana won more than $ 3.7 million dollars directly on their wallet and the same as other members of my family who began to trade with Mr. Ernest Davidson services a few months ago.
Earlier this year, he said that Bitcoin was going to drop to $ 18,000, I never believed it until I saw him with my eyes a few days ago, believe me, was a great opportunity to buy the fall.
Can’t wait. I’m bummed that it’s not out here in the U.S yet. I’m definitely switching as soon as I can. BTW, I have missed watching your videos. Hope you are well ❤
Since December 1996, I have Diabetes Type-2 and then I am congenitally deaf since birth as I am extremely sensitive to the vibrating and visual environments in a fact. So that I don’t like the blood glucose meters with sticks that made me feeling uncomfortable. Recently I have discussed over issues about Dexcom G7 with Apple wrist watch with my nurse practitioner at endocrine clinic in URMC as my nurse practitioner really is supportive to me. She has sad that insurances are complicated by regulations and policies however I have Medicare and Medicaid benefits as I am now 71 years old. At honestly, I only speak in American Sign Language and Pidgin Signed English in full proficiency then I have my strong English language skills in reading and writing skills in my completed college education with B.A. in double-majors of Biology and Chemistry from Gallaudet University in Class of 1981.- I am interested about Dexcom G7 as I am new.- Well, I have heard that FDA approved Dexcom G7 in the United States of the America on March 2023.
WOW! How amazing are you!!! What an inspiration you are! Thank you so so much for sharing your story here! You are clearly super intelligent and an extraordinary human being! How inspiring! I hope you get to try out the Dexcom G7 asap! I personally love the Dexcom in general, but of course all these things are super personal so it's all about what works best for you! Thank you again for sharing and watching and being here! You are amazing!!
I think all Dexcom's sensors need an over patch for a good number of people out there. I work construction and without my G6 overpatch the sensor wouldn't last a day. 1 thing that does bother me is the huge amount of plastic waste. Long after we are dead, the plastic waste will still be in the landfills for thousands of years.
You can try also the tensospray. I have good experience with that. I have also fast lost of the sticker off the sensor but not when I use this spray before. I use that also for the infusion set. When you notice it fit not anymore like it has to do, you can still repair that also with the spray without to replace everything. I can do with one can of about 15 euro more then 3 months too. So I'm happy with that sollution and until know not need patch with for the dexcom while I needed them for the medtronic sensor before. So also less plastic then with the patch. Indeed the dexcom G6 has a lot of plactic garbage. The tandem pump also. I hope also that in future that garbage can reduce.
I’ve become severely allergic to the adhesive of the G6 having to use barriers which finally work. I’m hoping the G7 changes the adhesive. Also I wear the G6 on my thigh. Well hidden and never gets bumped off like my arm.
Yes , our 5 year old made the switch a month ago (in the U.S.) total game changer on the warm up time and the smaller lighter device for his tiny arms!can't believe we ever waited that 2 hrs in changeouts . We always use the overpatch. So far no issues with any of them coming off! We did have to call dexcom on first one, found out we hadn't removed the G6 app completely off phone and it waned to interfere with new G7 sensor....So heads up when switching u have to remove old app entirely off device.
Wow, thanks for the information. I recently dropped my HbA1C down from 11 to 6.8 using the DEXCOM G6. It gives me the confidence I need to use a bit more insulin because I know that the alarms have my back. That said, the greater accuracy, the smaller footprint, the faster warm-up, and the integration of Clarity into the app makes me very, very happy.
Thanks Andrea!!! I’m so excited for the G7 to be available in the US! Do you know if the G7 is officially approved for insertion on your arms as well as the usual places that the G6 is approved for (belly for adults and belly or lower back/butt for young kids)? Also, I love how slim it is! I do get self-conscious sometimes about my G6 sticking out…I also have had both my toddler and my dog accidentally rip the top half of my sensor off before, so hopefully the G7 isn’t as easy to tear off! (I’m also excited that over patches will be included with every sensor!)
It is officially supported for the arms. It even has a feature where it asks you where you're putting it on, and back of the arms is one of those choices.
The G7 does not work with the Omnipod 5? My daughter got the G7 only to find this out. What’s up? That is significant. New technology that does not deliver the experience of the old technology?
Hello, great video! I work as a dev for dexcom and it is always a pleasure to see people be excited about G7, reading through all the comments and getting to know stories of lots of people is a blessing and gives a lot more of inspiration to keep giving my best on the job. I hope you all like G7!! Great things to come in the future!
Any word if this will ever work with a Medtronic pump? Medtronic pumps are great but their sensors terrible, would be nice if these worked with Medtronic pump then we'd have the best of both worlds!
I have a question. I live in US and just last month I got my second G6 unit. When the G7 is released in US will they eventually replace all G6s or will I have to wait 5 years again for new unit.
I too have a quick question and that is in the concern of having sensor failures being replaced all day long as one dexcom employee stated …. is not an issue. But replacing the transmitter when there’s problems is a big issue. How does this reflect with the G7? As my child is hit or miss on a vein and the blood will come rushing out. So my concern is, will Dexcom still be as wonderful as they had been with a G6 with the G7 in regards to bleeding issues and failures with replacing right away?
This video is all my own, it's not sponsored, but I am a part of the UK Warrior Program which gave me early access to the G7. I promise I'm going to work to release videos more often!! Thank you for your encouragement!!
I’m disappointed. Dexcom isn’t going to upgrade the warm up time!! Ughhh. I heard the g7 is supposed to be cheaper too. I’m gonna ask for it when it integrates with the tandem insulin pump.
Yes it does! But I believe it works through your phone (as in, it's not a direct connection and needs your phone to communicate the numbers to the watch, if that makes sense)
I changed from my G6 to the G7 yesterday my first delivery will be in December when my G6 Supply finishes, cant wait! and already happy that i am self funding and the G7 works out cheaper by a small fraction!
Hahahaha!! OMG I know exactly what you mean!! I think silent mode might be one of my most favorite aspects!! No more scaries from anything other than the movie!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear this - I'm really hoping the more versions that come out the more the tech will become more affordable for all. I have high hopes for this ❤️
I'm not sure! I'm so sorry to say! I do think the adhesive is more strong, but I don't have that one record or anything! It's also smaller so less likely to get caught/pulled/put pressure on the adhesive anyway, if that makes sense!
Sounds pretty good. Addresses most of the deficiencies of the G6 software/firmware that pushed me to use xDrip and Anubis, with a couple of extra features. Looking forward to trying it out in a couple of years when it finally gets released here (probably around the time they start advertising G8).
Yeah, the shorter warm-up period, overlapping sensors, and grace period cover many of the issues, and probably were also put in place for better integration with closed-loop systems. With the G6, unless you do some trickery with older transmitters and such, you can't have an uninterrupted sensor feed, so the closed loop has to be paused for up to a day.
I’m liking mine too! But I’m back on the G6 because that’s what works with my pump - can’t wait to upgrade though once the FDA approves the G7 for use with the Omnipod and TSlim and all the pumps, really!!!
Great video, I have just started on the T slim but not quiet there on the dexcom. I’ll definitely look into the G7. Thanks and great to see you back, such inspiration!!
The G7 is a PROBLEM. MARD of 8.1??? How can you tell?? I feel lucky if my G7 is within 30 pts of my meter reading. Ive been using the G7 since 10/23 when I gave up my G6 for the "better" G7. No. It isnt. It is a POS. Can you calibrate the G7?? Maybe. It is about 50/50. The G7 often rejects my calib. attempt. Why?? No reason given. Yesterday the G7 was higher than my meter by 70 points. Tried 7 times, over 40 minutes, to recalibrate it. It rejected 5 and the other two did not change the G7 reading at all. Maybe it doesnt like the FACT that it is inaccurate. The G7 is "out of range" 90% of the time. I am often within 18 inches of the phone and the sensor is still out of range. BS. Does the G7 work with the INPEN??? Nope. Not. At. All. Does the G7 work anywhere?? Nope. "Only on your upper arm" say the Dexcom tech. support. They told me this is stated on their website. No. It is not. Watch the sensor before you put it on. Ive had 2 sensors that had the needle OUTSIDE of the proper injection location. Both did NOT work. Do you use the sensor tape thing they give you?? Another POS failure. What they DO NOT tell you is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. After removing it, I picked up the 47 little pieces of sticky stuff and threw them away. I wanted to toss the G7, too. Their sensor sticky things are like using wet tissue paper. When you try to remove it, it simple tears apart. You remove it tiny piece by tiny piece. Of course, you scratch your arm red with these 125 attempts to tear the fkg thing off. Utter BS. Often, the G7 will go from 130 to 190 to 250 to 320 in less than an hour. I check my meter and BG is 220. WTF?? No idea. G7 usually rejects a recalib. during these temporary insanity periods. There are SO MANY more issues with this POS G7. I am done. Going back to the G6. G7 = worthless POS that Dexcom refuses to fix.
The G6 has helped get my A1C to 6.4, and now using the Tandem X2 my bg's are continuing to improve. Yes, the G7 is a marvelous step up from the G6, as i especially like the shorter warm up and the grace period you mentioned. Bravo bio-tech and Dexcom!
80% I had with my medtronic sollution already. In my hospital there are about 3 patients with 90% in range where I'm one of they told me. So it is not the standard result and it still request some effort off your self and not alone of the close loop system. But seems to be possible. The Hemoglobine A1C of 5.3% was very exceptional they told me.
G6???? How many times have I wanted to throw my phone against the wall and then beat it with a hammer just to shut up the rude alarm (what I called it). Ate some carbs, drink a gallon of juice or a box of candy. G6 don't care its just going to keep blasting away until it hits 70. Disconnecting the Bluetooth wont help cause you get an alarm from G6 system the BT is off. So lets just shut down the phone.... there's a high tech way of doing business. I assume that mode of operation came from the attorneys. Screw your meeting, dinner out, with friends, at work. G6 don't give a F... its just going to keep blasting the rude alarm. Yah, G7. About time.
I'm one of those "clumsy"people. In the past 4yrs of having the g6 I walked off at LEAST 5 or 6 of them against walls and beds. Not too shabby IG, except for that I am Hypo-Unaware and thus feel fine in highs and lows, and have to rely on my cgm. Not useful to lose it then! Really cannot wait till I get the g7
Im just about to close our my 5th decade with Type 1 diabetes, and somehow, I managed to survive the first 4 without a CGM at all... I have no fear about going without blaring alarms for a little while when I choose. I do use patches over my G6 because, living in the desert, I can sweat a lot when exercising and adhesion can be an issue. The Tandem t:slim X2 has been upgraded to integrate the G7, so I'm excited to start.
G7. First I was told it'll last 10 days - well 2 out of my first 2 sensors died way early they have replaced them free and was very concerned. I'll take the heat because I wanted the latest and greatest.... Next I was told that my 2 year old android phone w/ an app would be able to be used as a receiver ( wrong) my phone I found out during app install is not compatible. Sucks. But, when it working it's GREAT! I Love it. However it's my first full time meter so take it for what it worth ( my opinion that is...)
I'm not too sure I want to upgrade now with the the Dexcom One being easy to get on a Green slip and if need be extend it longer than 10 days as with teh G7 this is not going to be possible and preventing tecnologies advancing! I have had a G6 on me 50 days yes 50 days an daccuracy was good too di dhave its moments but was still good enough if in a Desert :-) looking forward to trying the G7 though I think they forgot me! put me on a Dexcom one to test out so the fight is still not over to get us all on a G7 on a Green Slip liek it should be :-) thanks for another great info video info on a new Sensor I helped them figure to getting it to it! :-) with having th ebattery last twelve months we know it was possible to reduce the sizes to keep a G7 running 3 months! hence why its thinner and smaller!
Great review, I will be changing over to the G7 in about a month, I have been using the g6 for about three years and love it, so I look forward to the change to more accuracy, and a shorter warmup time, Thank you, and have a great day Ron
ha! UK regulators have STILL not approved G7 integration with pumps. BUT we got a message a few weeks ago asking for volunteers to trial it but unfortunately you have to be an adult so my 17 year old can't do it but hopefully it will be integrated soon. G7 is awesome.
I hear you on both those things - I agree, the white can look a bit medical with is kind of a shame, and hopefully they get these links to the phones and watches sorted asap!!!
Personally i like that it's only a 10-day wear. That means i can have a nice looooong bath soak and a good scrub every 10 days. For someone who likes a bath like atleast 3x a week, i struggle to get it to stay on without overpatching twice and it starts to look manky. Less scarring too! Every 10 days is great!
As ususal, a great review by Andrea. One question: In 2019, medtronic committed to allowing other CGM to interface with their pumps to allow auto dosing and corrections based upon CGM readings. In my opinion, Dexcom makes the best sensors and Medtronic makes the best pump. Anybody have any idea where this "integration: stands?
I think it‘s just marketing words, Medtronic committed that but never submits its pump as a I-PUMP lable…and never open protocols ,what was worse ,Medtronic recalled the loopable pump models
Just switched last week form the G6 to the G7, and so far love it. Other than laying on my Left side (Sensor on Left Arm) and the back of my arm is on the mattress, and I lost readings during the night. I'm mainly a right-side sleeper, worried about putting it on the right arm. I understand the back of the arm is the only approved site, have you used it any other places?
Thank you so much for sharing all this great information. I'm using my last G6 sensor now. I've gone online and believe I am reading that I can continue to insert the G7 in the abdomen. Please confirm. For me, it is a more private location, and much less likely to get bumped off. As I have not installed the G7 sensor or app yet, I am hoping the system will walk me through the procedure as efficiently as the G6 did. Also, I had a lot of skin irritation with the over patches for the G6, so stopped using them. I've had no difficulty keeping the sensor on. HOPING I wont need over patches with he G7. If anyone has comments or guidance, I would love to hear from you.
I know - I've totally been MIA!!! I'm doing really really well, just had to take a break becuase life got so chaotic but I'm hoping to get back into posting more regularly moving forward!! It feels so good to be back!!! ☺️
I am going to be getting an Omnipod five pretty soon, and luckily I’ve already had the Dexcom G6 for 8+ months, and after watching your video, I can’t wait until the G7 is compatible with the Omnipod five. Hopefully with this one we can put it on opposite arms or opposite sides of our body, and that way even our own body won’t be an interference between the two.
Hi my name is mo I am also a type 1 diabetic since I was 9yrs old I just turn 45 that g7 sounds better than g6 hopefully I get it soon lol like your honesty about your diabetes keep going my friend stay strong keep smiling an as always take care of yourself my friend 👌💯😎
I tried a g7 sensor and for two nights straight it would loose signal....frustrated me and I put the g6 back on....I still have like 3 months left of my g6 supplies left.... I'm still on the fence about switching...the adhesive is concerning too...the g7 seemed like it was sticking ok but I currently use the skin grip overpatches for my g6 and finding a patch for g7 is proving to be a challenge ....so did you have issues at night with the g7?
What failure rates have users seen for the G7? If I take a trip that lasts three months, I will use 9 sensors for the 90 days I am gone. Assume that getting a replacement while I am gone is impractical. Based on user experience, including your own, how many extra sensors should I take on my trip? 0, 1, 2, or more?
You cannot "restart" the sensor with the G7 as with the G6. I can get 20 days on a single G6 sensor with great accuracy. Dexcon should have made the G7 with14 days wear.
Thank you for this video. Does anyone have any experience of using the G7 with android 12? The Samsung site shows support for most android devices up to android 11.
Looking forward to this for my little T1D, sometimes j take him out of school when his chm expires mid -day.. and the poor teacher and staff having to interrupt class everytime his alarm goes off.. I can't wait for the upgrade
I'm so excited to try the G7 out eventually! I was wondering if you've noticed whether the first day accuracy is better with the G7. One of my gripes with the G6 is that sometimes the first day I put in a sensor is hellish when it comes to inaccuracies (to the point where I often have to turn off Control IQ), then it corrects itself by day 2. I'm really hoping the G7 is better with this.
I know EXACTLY what you mean - honestly, I've had the same experience and I had mixed results with the G7 regarding this. It's hard to know what causes the mixed results, given that we're always changing sites which each new sensor. I did however find better accuracy in the first day the longer I had my next sensor in (and before starting it) during that 12 hour grace period. Some people call it 'soaking' the sensor. I did however, on the whole, find it more accurate on the first day than the G6, I can say that, which is a relief because I too am on the Control iQ and need that accuracy desperately!!
After 24 hours I do also a finger measurement. In half the cases the accuracy is good, in the other half it shows about 30 mg/dl more then the finger measurement and then I callibrate. When not doing it at that time it happens more that I come later in problem with very low sugar.
@@ShesDiabetic I am a little confused when you say you had better accuracy on the first day by soaking the sensor during the 12 hour grace period before starting the sensor. I never start my G6 until it has been in my tissue for at least 12 hours before starting it, but with the G7, it starts automatically. Were you talking about the G6 or G7 ? Only the G7 has that 12 hour grace period.
I like everything about the G7 except for it needing to put it on the back of my arm. For a couple of reasons it is difficult for me to put it there. I put my G6 on my belly. I know that is not where the G7 is recommended but it is what I prefer. Any thoughts?
Why cant you set your dexcom after you go to the doctor and get your A1C I am always off by 1% - so right now the g6 says 90 aic is 8.6 but th real number from my doctor just today is 7.7 can they fix it .
I’ve used both the G6 and the Freedom Libre2. Other than not having to scan the G6 that’s the only advantage I saw over the L2. 10 days vs 14 on the L2 is huge. G6 uses 10 days instead of 14 days only as a ploy to increase sales as you need to buy the G6 and the new G7 more often. It’s not rocket science to go 14 days. It’s corporate greed.
Bless you Christine!! It's great to hear from you!!! I hope to be putting out more videos - really need to get my act together with the scheduling!!! I miss you all so much!! ❤️
@@ShesDiabetic so good to hear from you too!! Would love to hear what you’ve been up to and how you managed with type 1!! That’s always the big question!
Very dissapointed in Dexcom. My cellphone not work properly anymore after 5 years and of course you want a new one that can connect with the Dexcom G6. When you work with standards then you have to define all phones supporting this standards will work properly. So supporting a version of bluethoot minimum. That is not the case with dexcom. So when your phone support the standard they will not asure that it works. When that is the case legaly you cannot say that you work with that standard. you have to choose a phone where the constructor has paid Dexcom to test before the app allow you to use the app on that phone. And the manufactorers do not want to pay anymore for that so it work only on old phones. I bought a phone that was listed but only the specific edition was a bit different, the only edition still on the market. They just block the app working on that phone while all relevant hardware is the same. So spend a lot of money for notthing! That is not correct. Support standard and tell what you expect that is used by the phone, or do not lie by telling that you can connect the Dexcom with an android phone? Seems to still only with very old android phones. They reply that I have to buy an extra device of them in place. And a phone and a meter and a reader and a cellphone and your papers, ... Not much coats that you can take all that with you. I hope that fast tandem is compatible with the freestyle libre 3.
I have the dexcom G6 and love it but I'm in the USA so I can't get the G7 yet but I do want one I'm type 2 and don't use a pump just pens so G7 will work great for me can't wait to get it I hope
i can't wait to get rid of my g6 for the new g7, just need to wait for it to get to the u.s. and have the pump integration with my Tendum. thx for the great video 🙂
i started using G6 few months ago and found the accuracy very bad , the G7 isnt available on the subsidy here in Australia and had to wait for the G6 to be subsidised and this was about 3 months ago, as the normal price is too high and cannot afford it
I love my G6 and absolutely cannot wait for the G7 in Canada!! Fifty-two yrs as a T1D; back when dx'd we had glass syringes and pee sticks! Love how Banting and Best kept us alive worldwide and the G6 has kept my hBA1C in the 6's; can't wait for G7!! .
That would be cool! Last year I saw a video of a company in the Netherlands I think who was working on a bihormonal fully closed-loop pump that either doses insulin if you’re high or glycogen I think if you’re low.
@@icecreamsandman you don't really need a closed loop system. all you need is for the CGM to pump glucose when the number is low to keep it at the right level. then the CGM can work with any insulin pump. if the G7 took care of the glucose then it works with the Omnipod 5 that could take care of the insulin.
Great video. Thank you. I had heard that the G-7 would allow a wearer to connect directly to a smart watch vs. through a smart phone and the phone's blue tooth connection to the watch. This feature is what initially got me excited for the new generation. It would be nice to get blood sugar readings together with alarms in situations where you can't carry a phone ( swimming, surfing, etc.) . Is this possible?
They are working on direct to Apple Watch readings, and it's even rumored that this will be released later this year, but I think that tech is up to the developer/Apple side of things rather than Dexcom. I know Dexcom is VERY keen to make this happen!
Yay! I was so excited to see the alert on my phone with a new video from you. I’ve missed your videos. I’m so excited for the G7, it sounds awesome. I hope it’s approved in Canada soon. Thanks for the video Andrea. Much love to you❤
My hesitation is can't hack and restart like with g6. I do that often to help supplies last cause if you have one of these fail early, your at the mercy of dexcom to send you another, and that's if its not at the last one for the shipment period
yeah! or if you're a musician like me!! nothing like 'beep beep beep' during the quiet part of a song!
It’s amazing all the technology for t1d these days! I’ve been type 1 since 1965, you can only imagine…now I can’t wait to change my G6 to a G7.
Can you talk in Amanda Ripley's voice in your next clip?
Lol 😂
Sounds great especially the smaller size because the G6 shows under light weight clothes. Also to be able to use your arm and allow your stomach to rest. How do I find out how I might qualify to switch? I am type 2 and have been on Dexcom 6 for approximately three to four years. 🙏🏾
It’s different depending on where you are in the world, etc, but I think the first thing to do would be to speak to your doctor!
Hi Andrea. Would you consider doing videos more often? You speak eloquently and are so knowledgeable. Great job!
When its come the review of freestyle libre 3?
I will work on this!
The smartest that I should be in the mind of all at this time should be investing in different income flows that do not depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver and digital coins (BTC, Eth ...).
I am new in the trade. How can I make a more profitable investment in cryptomones without incurring many losses?
Great, I just looked for Google your information about how and everything about your courage and genius.
I'm so sorry you've had trouble with the adhesive - this is the absolute worst!! Interesting about the leg site! Thank you for sharing this with me!
Watching this from the US is just depressing 😭
The G7 does not work with the Omnipod 5? My daughter got the G7 only to find this out. What’s up? That is significant. New technology that does not deliver the experience of the old technology?
It does not at this moment, that is correct. And I agree, I'm bummed about this. I hope it gets approved ASAP
What's the difference with g7 and the other one that is out there
I've tried to cover as much about this as possible in this video.
Yay, you’re back!! I wish the G7 was available in the US 😩
Yay!!! Thank you!! It feels so good to be back!! Hopefully the G7 will be out soon in the US!!!! 🙏🏻
I believe that you can find here indeed interesting sugestions when you read the comments. Keep up the good work!
Any word if this will ever work with a Medtronic pump? Medtronic pumps are great but their sensors terrible, would be nice if these worked with Medtronic pump then we'd have the best of both worlds!
Thank you for all you do. Even when we complain about rashes or costs, I know that most of us are THRILLED to be out of Finger-Stick Hades. Ha!
I know we're probably only getting this sponsored video for now, but it's good to see you back Andrea! Hope you decide to return to UA-cam one day.
Good plan - and I'm with you! I'm waiting for the upgrade so it integrates with the Tslim and Omnipod 5 - I'm hoping this happens asap!!
This sounds encouraging in many ways. 1 question: does the Dexcom g7 pair with the apple watch?
Yes it does! But I believe it works through your phone (as in, it's not a direct connection and needs your phone to communicate the numbers to the watch, if that makes sense)
I can’t wait until I can transition from the G6 to the G7
Always enjoy your helpful words! Thanks for sharing your honest reviews. You are a gift to our diabetes family out here.
Thank you 😍🥹😘❤️
As a diabetic its important to keep up with technology so G7 worth it.
stay positive beautiful
You have had diabetes for 20 years? You don’t look 20, so congratulations
Ha - indeed I have! Why thank you!!! 😅😂
I changed from my G6 to the G7 yesterday my first delivery will be in December when my G6 Supply finishes, cant wait! and already happy that i am self funding and the G7 works out cheaper by a small fraction!
I like quiet mode, especially at the movies. Saw a scary movie and think my alarm scared more people than the movie did lol
Hahahaha!! OMG I know exactly what you mean!! I think silent mode might be one of my most favorite aspects!! No more scaries from anything other than the movie!!!!
I am 19 year i have type 1 diabetic since 2015 i am not use this equipment because this is very expensive in my country
I'm so sorry to hear this - I'm really hoping the more versions that come out the more the tech will become more affordable for all. I have high hopes for this ❤️
When will the G7 be coming out. No pharmacy Carrie’s it yet.
It depends where you are. It's only been rolled out in the EU and UK so far - hopefully other places will follow very soon!
When will Dexcom G7 will be Canada? Has the adhesive changed?
I don't see any advantage over Xdrip+, which will run on 99% of all phones running Android 8+ with a smaller sw profile.
I just received my dex com g7 today it's good so far. Let me know how you llike yours
I’m liking mine too! But I’m back on the G6 because that’s what works with my pump - can’t wait to upgrade though once the FDA approves the G7 for use with the Omnipod and TSlim and all the pumps, really!!!
Did you experience any itching with the G7 after using it for several days?
I did not, but I know they've been trying a new adhesive formulation, so it could be that's not agreeing with your skin? Gah...so annoying!!!
I’m ready for the silence functions. I can tell when I’m going low.
Couldn't agree more!! This is why I'm so excited by it!!
My 9 year old was just diagnosed with type 1 and insurance approved G6 and G7 so we picked the G7. Does the G7 work with the Omnipod?
Great video, I have just started on the T slim but not quiet there on the dexcom. I’ll definitely look into the G7.
Thanks and great to see you back, such inspiration!!
Sounds like you are on a very excellent track (fellow tslim user here!) thank you for your kind words and for watching!!!
Great Video. Looking for connecting to my Tandem 2X.
I agree! I hope it connects to that and the Omnipod 5 ASAP!!!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and learnings.
You're so very welcome! It's my pleasure!
Incredible review, well done. Can’t wait for this!!! It will be life changing 🙌🏻
I agree - and thank you so much for watching and for your kind words!!!
90% in range 😮 wow!
My doc told me that my 80% was the highest she ever saw 😅
80% I had with my medtronic sollution already. In my hospital there are about 3 patients with 90% in range where I'm one of they told me. So it is not the standard result and it still request some effort off your self and not alone of the close loop system. But seems to be possible. The Hemoglobine A1C of 5.3% was very exceptional they told me.
The reader stays charged and has an alert alarm for low battery. That’s cool!
Indeed!!!
over 20 years.... pfffft... I've been T1 for over 50 years! My doctor even suggested I switch from the Minimed pump to the Tandem X2!!!
Yah, G7. About time.
Hey, quick question. I have swaped to CamAPS, Dexcom G6 and Pump. When I get the G7, can I still use the closed-loop CamAPS?
Great review, I will be changing over to the G7 in about a month, I have been using the g6 for about three years and love it, so I look forward to the change to more accuracy, and a shorter warmup time, Thank you, and have a great day
Ron
Oh I’m excited for you too Ron! I hope it all goes well (pretty sure it will!!!) and thank you so much for watching and for your supportive comments!
ha! UK regulators have STILL not approved G7 integration with pumps. BUT we got a message a few weeks ago asking for volunteers to trial it but unfortunately you have to be an adult so my 17 year old can't do it but hopefully it will be integrated soon. G7 is awesome.
I wish the G7 had a clear over patch. And that it linked to Samsung watch 5 (so you can see your current blood sugar on your phone)
Would love to see you do a video on how you put on the over-patch. I have yet been able to do this without help.
Oh good idea - thank you for this suggestion!!!
How are you? Haven’t seen you for a long time! Thanks for sharing your experience! Take care.
Hi Andrea,
I would like to ask you if the Bluetooth communication of the G7 is worse than the G6? Thanks
As of today, I have had type 1 for 64 years. Without the Dexcom CGM, I know I could not keep up the fight.
Great improvements over the G6 I have been using! But I still want dark mode for the app!!!!!
Where are you located? I cannot find the G7 anywhere in Washington State. Online says it's not available until early 2023.
This is a great question that I was wondering about too.
After 24 hours I do also a finger measurement. In half the cases the accuracy is good, in the other half it shows about 30 mg/dl more then the finger measurement and then I callibrate. When not doing it at that time it happens more that I come later in problem with very low sugar.
@@ShesDiabetic How has Control IQ been since the last time you reviewed it BTW? Did it increase your time in range?
I just switched from the libre2 to the dex7. It holds a charge so much more than the libre2
Sometimes it's the little things - just having a battery that is reliable and stays charged is just...top notch!!!
@@ShesDiabetic I think it’s because it doesn’t scan the sensor like the freestyle. That seemed to suck a lot of battery life
I’ve used both the G6 and the Freedom Libre2. Other than not having to scan the G6 that’s the only advantage I saw over the L2. 10 days vs 14 on the L2 is huge. G6 uses 10 days instead of 14 days only as a ploy to increase sales as you need to buy the G6 and the new G7 more often. It’s not rocket science to go 14
days. It’s corporate greed.
Sounds awesome just have to wait till the 2x tandem can upgrade to the g7
That's going to be a big step!! I can't wait either!!
Nice to see you again. When my diabetes isn’t behaving I rewatch some of your videos for inspiration on get back on track. Thanks!
Nice video. Nah to quiet mode for me I just turn my phone down, have it paired to my Garmin watch that shows up highs and low alerts plus vibration.
Very Very Happy That You are back Andrea!!!💞🤩 I missed you so much 🥰 btw, great video!👌🏻
Is there any additional pump involved with this? Or is this only the patch, and your cellphone app?? we are new to this.. thanks for the Video.
I just watched film Paganini what I wanted to know is that was Charlotte real characterl in Paganini's Life ? So I didn't find any info about her
I came here for who voice on nomad female on breakpoint/wildland, and she is actually nutrition expert lol
i can't wait to get rid of my g6 for the new g7, just need to wait for it to get to the u.s. and have the pump integration with my Tendum. thx for the great video 🙂
How did you get the G7 tech support told me it was only available in Europe because the fda will not approve it in the usa
i started using G6 few months ago and found the accuracy very bad , the G7 isnt available on the subsidy here in Australia and had to wait for the G6 to be subsidised and this was about 3 months ago, as the normal price is too high and cannot afford it
I love my G6 and absolutely cannot wait for the G7 in Canada!! Fifty-two yrs as a T1D; back when dx'd we had glass syringes and pee sticks! Love how Banting and Best kept us alive worldwide and the G6 has kept my hBA1C in the 6's; can't wait for G7!!
.
Have you considered reviewing and comparing with the Libre 3?
Wake me up when yhe decom Gs cam pump in glucose to prevwnt lows
