Luna Diabetes is moving ahead with something completely new - automated dosing overnight for insulin pen users. This is an add-on therapy - a tiny pump designed for use only during sleep, you keep using injections during the day. Sounds like extra work and extra gear, but the people behind Luna say the benefits speak for themselves and that the idea is extremely well received. They’ve just move...

Is there a blood test to see if you have mono genetic diabetes?
"Such a helpful video! 💉🌟 Love how you keep us informed with the latest updates. 🙌💙 Keep it up!"
After haveing low bloodsugers 4 or 5 hours after my pre bed snack nearly every night for a month strate, i think smart guard is trying to kill me.
I just got it and it is totally awesome! I'm hooked. Much more accurate than Dexcom & Libre especially when my levels are low an no more day 1's the entire year - Yahoo!!!
I love the dedication and day to day real life experiences
“Such great insights on the latest updates! 🙌 Thanks for keeping us informed! 💙”
“Such an inspiring story! 🙌 Gary Forbes is a true hero on and off the court. 💯🏀”
I dont think the stelo will tell you how low your glucose is. It stops at 70. It is made for people thay do not go low I think.
Useless video! Just a graphic! Asinine!!!
It’s an audio podcast. The picture doesn’t change but the audio does. Some find the info helpful.
Great show
The biggest problem with Stelo is that there is nobody supporting the product Dexcom has rolled out this product but they don't have any infrastructure in place to support it if there are any issues or questions. All they provide is a Bot on the Stelo website that creates a case but never gets back to you. You can't contact anybody. Dexcom customer service refuses to assist any Stelo requests. Very poor launch. All Stelo youtube videos have comments turned off and contact information on Facebook is Dexcom and they refuse to help Stelo questions and Issues.
This is super exciting. As soon as Tandem allows this I am in!!!!
The Stelo app is incompatible with Android 15 causing problems with sensor pairing. My last sensor expires in 2 days. I have placed my sensor reorder on hold with no idea when the app will be fixed. Stelo customer service is non-existent.
I’m a type 1 and always understood flying was out of my reach, this is so inspirational!! Considering my pursuit of a helicopter license now!!!
I am a type 1 I been type 1 since I was 16 years old and now I am 43 years old now
Hi
Are there any diabetes psychiatrists in Pennsylvania?
I take care of a type 1d special needs guywho wears a Dexcom & omnipod 5. What suggestions do you have because the Omni gets changed every 3 days, cgm every 10 days. We wear them both on the same arm. Because they come due to change on different days we will run short on dexcom if we change it a day early to keep up with the pod placement. Does this make sense??? What do other people do? He is so thin & can only wear it on upper arms.
Thank you for this interview with Dr. Alonzo. His perspective is refreshingly flexible and understanding with regard to the mental health challenges of living with T1D. I especially appreciated the section from 11:45 - 17:25. “Big picture goal,” “Don’t have to win the A1c sweepstakes,” “We can soften our attention to diabetes in a safe way so you can live the happy life that we are actually shooting for.” After 46 years with T1D, I can attest to how rare this attitude used to be. I am glad I've lived long enough to see the change in approach.
Ummmmmmmm We DADS night out (golf, bowling, etc) thanks for your work listen on my ride home
DO NOT RECOMMEND. First sensor wildly inaccurate, second sensor died after one day and multiple sensor issues, and no customer service contact number so if you can't get help or have trouble logging on, you're out of luck. Just canceled my subscription.
2 weeks into Stelo. Very educational. I will probably keep using it to keep my glucose in range so I can get to normal from prediabetes. Watching my daughter deal with type 1 means I am very motivated.
Unfortunately not all insurances cover CGMs. So this is the solution I've been waiting for since being diagnosed 2 years ago. So far 5 days in, its been accurate to finger stick readings within 10 points.
I hope Dexcom will remedy the failure of the Stelo app to point users to Clarity.
This is really good info, lots of interesting insights and info. Looking forward to ketone monitors (but not holding my breath).
I tried. Stella seems to be accurate for me, but the most disappointing part is customer service. The first unit didn't work it went too 70 low and and stay there, I filled out the forms on the website to get a replacement twice, but never heard back.
I'm having keeping the G7 on. They never last ten days. Last night while I spelt the sensor fell off and I can't get a new one till monday! I never had this problem with the G6 but I can't get that now. The glue just does not hold when I sweat and I sweat a lot here in Florida. Last month I had one only last four days. I have tried to complain but never get an answer. What a waste of money, great product electronically but physically they are poorly made. I've seen crap from China with a better track record then the G7.
I put mine on the inside of my thigh on a tip from another user. Seems to work better than on the arm.
I am using the Stelo and very pleased. Medicare would not cover a CGM because I don’t use insulin. This GGM gives me an opportunity to monitor my health.
If you notice a pattern of lows while using the Stelo, the new Medicare rule will cover a prescription CGM. The Stelo app is not helpful but it integrates well with Dexcom's Clarity app, which can generate multi-day records and will show actual glucose levels below 70 (I had them in the low 50s).
they totally ripped me off buyer beware.
in what way?
@@归来少年 i paid for them and they did not send them to me. they do not have a phone # or a email to communicate, had to fight with a bot. they can"t help me unless i provide a serial number, how is that possible? after fighting with the bot they finally send me one. i paid for two of them. just not worth the aggravation. i have to file a claim with the credit card company.
No details probably didn’t even get one.
I'm pre-diabetic. I'm finding the Stelo is very helpful. However, two of three sensors failed or didn't install properly. The customer service bot is very glitchy and not always helpful. Dexcom needs to work on this. No way to talk to an actual person.
I'm not quite sure where the existing news is about. Nothing new and nothing for type 1s, which is the important part. I thought about some new technology they are adding.
Another great episode. The Stelo was released just as I decided to take my diabetes management to the next level. It has been a real eye-opener. I am so thankful for CGM in general and for Dexcom going straight after the market segment with T2 and poor or no insurance coverage. As the first Stelo users approach one month of use, I would like to see a deep dive into Clarity.
Sometimes when you’re looking for back-up plans is me right now, my current cgm is back ordered at the moment, and my primary physician quit the practice so I don’t have a Dr to get me prescription for a different cgm, and here is an over the counter cgm that’s in the affordable range, but it can’t connect to a pump or won’t give me alarms, oh no I guess I’ll just have to open the app and manually check my blood sugar a couple of times per day
No longer in the “dark” being T2 & non insulin user❤ I love knowing what spikes my BS🎉
Been looking at switching to G6 or G7 for phone use. How do these work if you have a phone and apple watch? I don't have apple watch, but would guess it'd be same issue, lose the app on phone, it would immediately not work on watch?
as a T2D, not on insulin, the inability to calibrate is a non-starter.
11 years T2, GLP1 Rybelsus & Metformin, diet & exercise. This is a game changer for me! 6 days on it! Works great!❤
I’m 36. I’ve been T1 since April 2001. I will get on my knees and cry tears of joy if smart insulin ever becomes a reality. I’ve worn a pump for over 20 years and it now feels like a ball and chain. I can’t express the mental burden this would relieve. Best of luck all involved.
Yes
Translation ... Medtronic is so far behind in their CGM technology they have finally realized in order to sell more pumps they need a better CGM to go along with it. I bought my first Medtronic pump in 2009 (remember, they were the primary pump choice back then) and I bought it because of the "new" CGM technology at the time - a sensor that would send readings automatically to the pump, plot them on a chart and you could download for further tracking and analyzing - pretty cool! I LOVED the Medtronic pump but hated the sensors which were inaccurate, bulky, needed charging, only lasted 3 days, required constant calibration and were so expensive! So I used the pump but not their CGM and entered finger stick reading manually. Fast-forward 15 years Medtronic sensors are still the same profile shape/size,, still need charging, very awkward to insert, now last 7 days with better accuracy but not the best out there, AND are still expensive! Meanwhile, Abbott Libre sensors came along (among others which are good but I have only personally used Libre sensors). Libre's are small, easy to insert, accurate, don't require charging, last 14 days are are less expensive - everything Medtronic's weren't! To be fair, Medtronic is not only a diabetes company, they manufacture other medical devices but as such I believe they lost their focus on CGM's over the last decade. With the great strides in CGM technology over the last few years they can't catch up so good on them for finally realizing they should partner with a company that actually makes fantastic CGM's. I'm very much looking forward to using a Libre sensor with my Medtronic 780G. BTW, the 780G is a fantastic pump but the whole experience will be so much better with a fantastic CGM to match!
It can’t be calibrated. It won’t give readings below 70 mg/dl or above 250 mg/dl (just “low” or “high”). It transmits data to the app every 15 minutes instead of every 5. And the only notifications are for “spikes” and “daily insights” so if your glucose is dropping fast you won’t have any idea. I really feel like this is a fine product for pre-diabetic people and “fit-fluencers” and people who think a CGM is the next magic bullet for weight loss. For diabetics people… not so much. I would definitely not use the Stelo if you’re using insulin.
Non-insulin users for sure! 😊
No one ever, it’s about the sensors that have issues with medication’s. I can tell you I take a medication that that interferes with Dexcom and Medtronics sensors the ones it does not interfere with is Libre and Eversense. Just thought I’d throw that out there. No one ever talks about it. It’s a big big deal for me.
this is why healthcare costs so much. goverment meddling. they are marketing the same product differently just to get past the crazy hoops fda forces them to comply to.
I have type 1 and I will try this.
Same, had to order a pair out of necessity, but I’m excited to try it
Do you think fast acting insulin once a week will be available soon ?
Does metformin works for lada?
It can help your blood sugar not increase as much when you eat (not meant for when you wanna eat foods high in carbs/sugars. Even though I know many w/ diabetes who do.) It made me sick and the dr's wont admit that long term use can cause kidney failure. My dr tried to push me to continue to take it saying that I'll get used to the "uncomfortable" side effects (chronic fatigue and digestive issues). I refused. Also it depletes your B12.
Would it be possible to be negative for islet cell antibodies and gad-65 but still develop lada later on? My dr told me I don’t for for type2, I was tested for type 1 and kada but Dr said results came negative… I was tested for mody too and negative.. I am lost. Now we are going back to recheck for lada again 😢
