    I picked mine up, a 2013 with 20 miles(!) in last February. When I saw it on the web the first time it yelled at me and I fell in love. I was lucky to find that beauty and mechanical perfection for just $9950 out the door from a small dealer. It rides like a butterfly, sounds like a bumble bee!

    Hi & thanks for the good review. I’m in the UK & I got myself the RS model back in January & I’ve so far done 2000 miles. And I have to say I absolutely love it - I also was looking at the RnineT’s or T120 but went with Honda because I prefer the inline 4 engine & the finish is sublime too. It’s a shame you don’t the RS spec in the states because it instantly solves the issues with tyre choice but the EX is still a cool looking machine 👍🏻

    Love your work man. I don’t think I’ve ever heard people talk about maintenance intervals on bike. Cost to own is NEVER covered. Really straightforward and great info. Excited to see what bike you do next! Ducati scrambler?

    Informative videos. Can you tell me about the carrier base attached to the luggage rack? Who makes it and what attaches to it? Was it a direct mount specifically for the Honda o.e.m. rack or universal type adapted to fit? Thanks for the well edited and first class productions.

    Great bike.....I have had mine over a year and very happy with purchase. The cb is plenty fast for me and handles great with wonderful balance. The build quality ,fit and finish is very impressive and justifies price imo. My main complaint is wheels with the odd size tube tires...I wish it had lighter aluminum wheels from earlier cb.

    I have been following your channel for a while but must admit just subscribed today.
    Personally I am interested in the cb1100 and been reading a lot on the cb1100 forum as well. Doing that a few things stand out to me, one is that those that have the bike and are doing videos are raving about it. However the second thing I observed is that the forum is quite full of owners having issues with it. That being said I can't judge by reading how mechanically inclined people are or how the bikes have been treated by the owners.
    I had hoped that you still had the 2013 cb only to learn about the crash, bummer. Anyway glad you're ok and also that you did stick to the cb1100. Your experience seems to manifest that those bikes are actually better than the forum experience makes them seem.
    That was a lot of jada, jada......sorry.
    Thanks for sharing your experience.
    Safe rides and travels 👍🏍

      That's funny, my experience has been the exact opposite with regards to the forums! I very RARELY have seen posts where people have problems with them and by all accounts I've read people (like my own anecdotal experience) just put tons of miles on them totally problem-free. Of course, my definition of a problem is something that would affect ability to ride. You know I think everyone has like squeaky clutch levers or something but I don't really count it if you can fix it with some lube or a quick turn of an adjusting screw etc.

    I've had 2 cb 750s and really loved them, I hit a deer on the first one so no more dark night time riding. Now I am planning on buying an 1100, I wish they would sell the super 4 1300 here.

      @@iamheero I'm close to securing a 2017 CB1100 EX and wanted to ask which rear rack and which mounting plate are you using. I have a GIVI dolomite top case that i like to transfer to this bike if possible. Thanks in advance.

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  3 роки тому +2

      @@GBeWinginIt Hi, I just use the Honda OEM rack and a mounting plate specific to the Bestem box I bought on Amazon- no longer in production. I really do like the Honda rack, it's more expensive than some aftermarket ones but very sturdy and I'm much more confident using it with heavy stuff in my rear case.

    I love the looks of this bike! I have a ‘78 XL125... wish Honda would bring back a retro 250cc. It’s crazy to think the first Civics in the ‘70’s were only slightly more powered than this bike w a 1400 cc engine.

    Only thing i dont like about the EX or the standard models is the color scheme. Not a fan of the two toned cylinder heads or even the side covers being silverish. Absolutely IN LOVE with the spoked wheels though. Would prefer to turn my 2014 dlx into a 1969 version with the spoked and all the other gadgets but cant seem to spend 5000 usd on a trim package and some aftermarket pipes. Love these bikes man. Love the vid!
    If you know anyone thats selling a DLX seat hit me up with a comment - currently own a corbin and cant stand the way it looks with mine.
    Im sure youve figured this out already, but checkout samurider for some aftermarket parts and the cb1100 forum is also good. Thanks again, stay safe out there!

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  4 роки тому

      Absolutely agree with you on the colorways and I miss my '14 very much, I had it all blacked out except some gold mag alloy wheels (from Samurider!). Unfortunately they're not compatible with the '17 model... so I basically have to find a '14 and swap all the brake parts out, put the spokes on the '13/'14 in order to put my alloys on my '17.

    I love the looks of this bike, but I can see why it wasn't a big seller in the US. It's typical Honda--does most thing well, but nothing really outstanding. It's built well and is very reliable. I have a 2010 Honda NT700VA, and I would not consider replacing that bike with this one, even though the CB1100 EX is much better looking. The NT is just much more practical.

    What tires do you recommend? The oem Dunlop’s are very difficult to find . Have you used tubes in tubeless tire for an option?

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  4 роки тому

      That's what I do- I have used several different brands of tires and I just select any tubeless tire that fits plus I do use a tube. I know there are conversion kits out there to go tubeless too with sealant for the spokes but that has its own set of problems. I believe I'm currently running the Bridgestone BT45s, they're fine but I prefer the Metzelers I had previously.

    • @RM-tn4lo
      @RM-tn4lo 4 роки тому

      @@iamheero Thanks -- good info. I understand that using tubes in a tubeless tire lowers the speed rating by one class due to heat generation ,correct?

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  4 роки тому +1

      R M I'm no expert, but I haven't noticed any heat or wear issues. Besides, the CB is limited to 108, many tires exceed that with more than enough margin of error that I'm not personally concerned.

  • @markjohnson7997
    @markjohnson7997 Рік тому

    You need to be changing the oil every 3000, with a wet clutch application because that motor is lubricating both the transmission and the engine. Plus it will last a lot longer you keep your motor clean and don’t let sludge build up, you start letting sludge build up then you’re just gonna really shorten the life of that motor. But I love your video you have probably one of the best videos for this bike and I subscribe to you because of that reason, thank you for making a good video!👍🏻

    Which tires have you found to work well with CB1100?

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  Рік тому

      Depends on the riding you'll do! I think the Metzeler I think Roadtecs(?) were a good compromise between grip and durability. I put a lot of miles down so I didn't want super sporty tires.

    Transverse 4 cylinder not inline but whatever everybody gets that wrong...

    • @iamheero
      @iamheero  2 роки тому +1

      Well, maybe it seems like everyone gets it wrong because you don't know what you're talking about. Transversely mounted engines have the crankshaft running perpendicular to the direction of travel. Inline engines have the cylinders running in-line along the crank. You can mount different types of engines transversely. This one is an inline (or straight) 4 cylinder, mounted transversely.
