Can we just talk about how a few years ago she could have never seen herself getting a dog ever and now she is a full blown dog mom. Love it!! You go girl!! Such a great mom for everything!! Love you!!! You are stunning!
That’s so interesting! Any vet or animal I’ve had has always recommended being fixed around 6 months and preferably before they have their first cycle.

Highly recommended getting either a car crate or a crash tested harness/fastening. Free dogs can become projectiles in an accident or run into roads, etc. Also, it will allow you to relax a bit because she'll be fully secured x

I came here to say this! I was about 7 when I saw firemen pulling a dead dog from a vehicle and another dog on the side of the road that was ejected! It's traumatized me and I remember that clear as day almost 20 years later!!
The doorbell is great for inside. My dogs just camp out by the back door until someone lets them out (even the puppy eventually). I personally would NOT put one outside to come in. I’m pretty firm with my dogs and don’t like when they decide it’s time to come in (no barking, no scratching at the door). There is going to be times she CAN’T come in and it will drive you crazy that she’s asking.
A lot of insurances also don’t cover if dog is free in the car x
You def want to get her fixed before she starts her first heat. Recommended dogs get fixed at 6th months of age, also at that age they can start going into heat. They come into heat every 6 months. From what I understand the reason why you want to fix them before heat starts is every heat cycle increases her chances of mammary tumours later in life.
Large breeds they say hold off so they're bones and ligaments have time to fully develop
Nope. They said to wait till 12/18 months now. Better for development. Hormones help legaments to develop

Agreed do some research. I’d probably wait longer for a male, but with a female I wouldn’t wait till they go into their first heat. Only maybe if they’re a giant female.

the second honey's first heat cycle starts, make sure u got doggy diapers on deck. IIRC, they bleed like they have their period but its been EONS since i've had to deal with it so i cant remember. so much love and luck and thank u for making sure to fix ur pets when its safe!!

Doodles absolutely love hugs, our oldest doodle is a hugger and he is almost 3. And our youngest is almost 10 months. They love hugs !
We've had our older dog for 12 years and he still gets excited when we come home! Don't worry, it never stops
I help feed and care for the feral cats around my house, I loveeeeeee it. I put a little heater in a small hut for them during the winters bc it gets bad here. I am told not to adopt any other cats and we have 2 that dont get along as it is lol... I try to also help socialize the outdoor kitties :) and if they come during the day and are adoptable I take them to the shelter... I also enjoy keeping an eye out for pregnant cats that have kittens, which has happened twice so far lol... And I either get them fixed or put up for adoption (working with local shelter and/or places to get them fixed for free). Anyway, you're not doing anything wrong IMO - you're just helping the little guy out.

I also have a dog seat belt in the back seat for Brodie. It looks around the head rest and still provides him enough room to walk the backseat. Just provides him to protection (knock on wood that it never happens) in the event we are in an accident.
I LOVE, love Honey!!!😀🐾💕 She is sooooo cute and very smart and fun!🎉🐾💕 ~ It’s not extra at all to carry Honey into the vet. It is normal. They do get so anxious. It’s nice for them to know you’ll take care of them.💕 That’s high for her to jump out of the van. My dog, Daisy, is going to be 9 years old this month and she always goes crazy whenever I come home. 🐾💕 ~It s the best! Such beautiful love!😀💜🐾💕 We mix wet food into the dry food. There are so many kinds of wet food to give them variety. Yet, if you only give wet food, it can deteriorate their teeth. Enjoy your four legged friends!🐾👍🏽💕
We have a stray that adopted us. We built her a house out of a side table & put a chicken coop heater on the back & a heated outdoor pad for in the winter. It sits on our porch & she stands guard at night running off the other strays & a random fox. ❤
every dog i’ve ever had has never lost that excitement when you first get home reaction. i had one dog growing up who would only not greet us at the door when he did something he wasn’t supposed to while we were gone. it got to the point where if we didn’t see snoop in the window as we drove up we knew there was a trashcan knocked over somewhere inside 😅😅 he passed away at the end of 2021 and i’d give anything for one more snoop greeting at the door ♥️

Farmers Dog!!! Our corgi has been on it for almost a year and got a clean bill of health recently from the vet. He was VERY picky with kibble so that’s why I swapped him over to FD and it’s been wonderful.

Hey Jess! I would recommend getting your pup spayed BEFORE her first heat cycle! It prevents a few different cancers that they can develop later in life! This is coming from someone who has worked in the Shelter world for years and has seen the cancers coming from Heat cycles! Just a recommendation!
How you're garage is, is how my house is rn. We had a house fire last summer and so we finally after like 10 months, just got basically what you said you got done to your garage, done to our house. It's finally moving along quickly and I'm sooo excited! Hopefully we'll be moved back in before the start of this summer in a little less than 2 months 😁❤️🙏🥳
Brodie was trained by the word “let’s roll” is his command for a car ride. “Let’s go” is his command to know that we are going for a walk. His bathroom command is “pop a swat” and he knows “nigh night” means it’s time to go to bed. “Leave it” is the very first thing he was taught to not be tempted by the litter box. He also knows “gentile” when he is receiving a treat.
I did unique commands so he wouldn’t get confused by someone else saying them and do that command.
I don't recommend doing that ... if for ever reason someone watches her it's confusing

Please check that your dog has water in her bowl before you go to sleep!
If you take your dog out on outings please bring a disposable water bow, l with a water bottle so that she has access to water!

In my town there are a ton of strays but they are scared of everyone. This one cat showed up he's a mix of 4 dif breeds. We fed him for awhile and when he let
S us carry him around we found out he was an indoor cat from a previous home that threw him to the streets. He's a very smart cat. He can open kennel doors. When he showed up he was neutered and declawed in the front. (He's a mix of sphinx, Persian, and two others. Sphinx are known for being smart. Persian are known for markings. But we've had this cat for two or three years now and we love him so much. He now lives with 4 other cats. We call him ✨Tiger✨❤🥰

Before our cat passed away there was a cat that our cat didn’t scare off. Our cat kept scaring the other cats off but not this cat. So we took it as a sign that this will be our new cat to help us heal from our cat’s death. So this cat might adopt you guys as his new owners.

Any kitty fur babies I had they got fixed as soon as they were up to weight. With our most recent one 2LBS at 7 weeks. All vets and rescues around here tell you not to have them go through heat cycle.
My sister has a plug in cooler. Plugs into the car and the house/hotel so you can keep stuff cold for yourself. If we don’t want to plug it in we used freezer packs and it stays pretty cool for the day.

My childhood dog was a chocolate lab/Australian Shepard mix. He would jump on the trampoline,go swimming in the Puget sound or rivers.....he also would play tether ball,my dad made me a tether ball pole using a old tier and cement!!

The Farmers dog is great. It’s healthy for dogs! And You don’t need to worry about how much you’re feeding them each meal you just have to do one packet a day
We got our puppies fixed before they had a heat cycle so it was never something to worry about. It was 4-6 months is what I told would be a good time. Any humane society may be cheaper to get it done also.
Kurgo is a good harness. Dogs can wear it 24/7. Is strong. Easy to clean and comes with a good latch for the car for seat belt safety
I mean if she eats the kibble and isn’t picky then you could just stick with that. Things like farmers dog with fresher ingredients are always healthier for your dog. Healthier options can make it more likely for your dog to live longer too.

Since you’re feeding honey very well and you’re looking into better options I recommend looking into better options for your cats. Fun fact, cats are carnivores they actually supposed to eat meat so wet food or raw but a great option for both cats and dogs are freeze dried chicken hearts, or fresh chicken hearts that you can get at your local store. Really good for the teeth. Also, cats need fresh running water and they’re you have health issues with being fed kibble, their whole life probably same for dogs as well .
All my animals eat hard food and it doesn’t affect them , they are super healthy. A Raw diet can be good if you can afford it but there’s also health issues that can develop from raw food. Wet food Is great to feed on top of hard food . Not all hard food is bad

My dogs devour it up
I normally make my own wet food in a crock pot for my dogs on top of regular kibble to mix it up and help one gain a little weight bc he’s a little guy for his size. But I normally just do beef, brown rice, peas & carrots, sweet potatoes, apples(no seeds, cut in pieces) and water. It seems to be cheaper than all those brands and lasts a while. You can also do research and add more or change stuff. After I make it I put it in bags and freeze and take out a bag and put in the fridge for the week.

I had that exact doorbell ringer for my dog, and she constantly hit that button because she always wanted to go outside. 😂 I ended up having to unplug it at night because she would literally ring it all night long when she didn’t have to go pee. 😂
I recommend practicing having her get in and out of the car without closing the door and then driving somewhere. Once she gets in easy then sit in the car with her. Then progress to closing the door and practicing getting her connected to a crash tested harness. Love on her. Then move to short drives before long drives. It’s a good idea to progress slowly and make the experiences positive or she will hold onto that nervousness. You want her to start associating the car with fun places so she can forget that car means vet.
There are places that do puppy swim lessons to teach them how to get out if they fall in without making them fearful of the water. I puppy fell into our pool and hasn’t gone near it since because she is so afraid. She fell in while playing at the side and wasn’t paying attention then missed a foot
I never heard of letting them have a heat cycle first. My dog and cats got fixed at 3 months

I guess each vet is different because I was told for my Bichon frise to get her fixed after the first cycle. But then that was 13 years ago things have probably changed since then
It depends on the dogs adult size. For larger breeds they now reccomend waiting longer.

Boots is NOT feral in the SLIGHTEST. A feral cat would NEVER accept a pet unless it was put under INTENSE therapy. That cat is just a stray who had a family before who knows that humans aren’t bad

One thing that would work for your fur baby would be an elevated food bowl. It’s like two dishes in a stand because she is so big and will be bigger. It helps with digesting the food.
If I walk out to the mailbox and come back, my dog acts like I’ve been gone his whole life. They never grow out of it.
My dog has no care in the world when I walk in my house. He loves new people and people he doesn’t see often. We have feed our dog a raw food diet for a year and a half, and he’s never been healthier. You can change it up all the time the meat base stays the same, but the veggies and fruit that you put with it we constantly change. He loves it

I have 3 things to recommend 1 don’t let her jump in and out of the car and beds because she can dislocate,damage and/or brake her legs or hips so just be really careful about that. 2 I recommend not letting her have more than one heat because it puts her at more of a risk of cancer in many different places. 3 I would also recommend getting her kidneys,liver and spleen. just recommendations from a person that has had poodles their whole life and breeds poodles to just be really cautious with these things.😁

I have been involved in feral cat rescue for years ,feeding a feral is definintly not a no no ,you are likely saving his life by doing so ,and yes setting up a shelter would be a great thing to do for him ,we also feed a feral in our area ,after 5 years of feeding him he now lets my husband pet him ,,,

A lot of my friends who has dogs they really like farmer dogs but because its pricey they mix a portion of the pack with their dry food to make it last longer.

You can also give honey as a substitute of the kibble u can give her tomatoes 🍅, bell peppers 🫑 any color , and scrambled eggs 🍳 I give my dogs that for lunch every day.

final annoying comment i swear lmfao but be sure to get a fence around the pool specifically if you can. dogs can and will fall in there so commonly and it only takes a split second for the worst to happen. basically just need one so the dogs can go straight into the pool from the backyard. my dad had a pool in his backyard and he also had two big leonburgers and i can safely attest to that fence from preventing issues; before he had it installed, one of the dogs hopped on the pool cover in the off season and popped a hole in it and almost drowned. she did not, thankfully, but it was a big ol scary wakeup call
I highly recommend looking for pet doors that have tags that open them And I might be mistaken, but there might be ones that you can get that. Go off your pets and microchip
We got all of our doodles fixed before they went into heat. Around 6-8 months. I highly suggest getting a second opinion and fixing her before her heat.
I’m actually glad they recommended you too wait to get honey spayed because a lot of vets don’t wait and it is actually recommended for them to be fixed after they at least have one heat cycle

It is actually not recommended to feed fresh like farmers dog. They really need the different grains in kibble. Highly recommend getting a high quality kibble like Purina pro plan, science hill diet, or royal canin. I personally I feed Purina pro plan and I use bone broth to rehydrate and give extra flavor. I also give water sometimes and I have a variety of meal toppers with different flavors( just make sure it’s a good brand) she gets a multi vitamin treat in her dinner and salmon oil for her skin and coat

For cats this is true. It cuts down on undesirable behavior. With boys you try to get them fixed asap because otherwise they could get used to spraying and continue to do it even after they are fixed. (With dogs I was always taught it was after 1 cycle)
Good luck with your eyelashes. I've done an at-home lash lift and it fried my eyelashes 😭 they were so dry and brittle and some broke off on the ends.

i feed my dogs stella and cheweys wild red dog food. rehydrated with bone broth and topped with the dinner patty’s of the same brand and the magical dinner dust food topper and an egg and salmon oil. i also add berries sometimes but i really like that brand.
We just switch to Farmers dog for my dog and she likes it.. WE do dry in the morning and the farmers dog in the afternoon
We feed my dog twice a day. It’s more natural for them. Dinner he gets pork round slice. I cook a big roast for him. Slightly under cooked. Cut it and freeze it and then he gets it sliced up with his meat first kibble. He loves it. Sometimes in am he gets a whole uncooked egg from the chickens.
